mmh one of my friends friends has a 1080 and uses it in sl and says its great, what operating system are you using 'windows 10' by any chance? Btw did you know MS consider Win 10 home users as beta testers ^^ yep it says that on the MS website!

I just ordered an MSI Gtx 1070 gaming today, should be here this Sunday so i will report back^^

FPS depends but with draw distance out quite a bit with plenty of textures around i get about 40 fps,(with lots of AV's around you would never get near that) I dont often use advanced lighting unless taking photos since i am normaly building or in my club, normaly around sl with advanced lighting off i would get about 120fps but i use vsync to my monitor so its throttled to 60fps. Internet i get about 51 meg on fibre my max is 52, cpu is a i5-4670K CPU overclocked to 4 gig M.2 ssd in a pcie adaptor makes a bit of extra speed over a normal ssd, my mother board does have an m.2 slot but its limited to 2 lanes so i moved it using the adaptor card.

Interesting question, I think the main bottleneck is the SL servers, over the last couple of years I have been on a mission to get more 'speed' and I have come to the conclusion that its the SL servers that limit performance when it comes to rezzing speed. A faster better graphics card will rezz things a bit quicker and will cope with lots of textures, mesh and avs like in a busy club etc much better. After Sansar has been around a while some of the graphics pipeline tech may be implemented in SL if it can be. I am going to wait a while to buy a 1070 until the price drops, they are playing silly games using shortages of supply to keep the price high at the moment. I am looking to get an MSI gtx 1070 gaming at the moment I have a MSI gtx 970 gaming and its quite good in sl runs nice and cool since i up the fan speed a bit never goes over 40 degrees C in SL but i also have a very large tower case with plenty of internal space and nice quiet airflow, the reason i up the fan speed with afterburner is fans are cheap and thermal shock kills lead free solder i.e. it cracks^^

Your alt need payment info on file or payment used and the alt needs to do and pass the mesh test.

Yeh I understand, I used to have a GTX 660, I updated to a 970 and it is 'faster' in sl a bit its def better with more avs in sight etc. The main thing i was thinking about was the price of second hand cards will drop and some times its better to sell your old card sooner than later a gtx 970 sells on ebay for about £170-£200 at the moment that's half the price approx of what a 1070 will be, in 6 months i can see them selling for about the £100 mark. So I am not sure at the moment, the 1070 may not be that much better than what I have now because of the way SL works and does not use the feature set that modern graphics cards have built in. I would have to sell my current card very soon and go back to my laptop for a month or two before getting a new card^^

Anyone thinking of buying a new graphics card should maybe wait a while since Nvidia are going to release some new cards, the GTX 1070 and 1080 they look impressive on paper. GTX 1080 will cost $599 and launch May 27, with GTX 1070 following June 10 for $379.

Thx for your reply, I had thought of that but since we get a lot of new residents and many of them stay and become regulars I didn't really want to do that , our club is famous for being a very friendly place for everyone, its been going for 7 years now and we never had much problem up until a few months ago, but we made some changes, more sets more staff and really worked hard to make the club better than it was and it has worked very well. I guess its the price you have to pay! we also have some problems with rp hud users, one of the makers of a rp game actually modded his system so it wont work in our region and that was very nice of him, He said he didn't want his system to get a bad name and that's great. others though have not been so nice^^ lol.

I had another question I know there is little point in posting it here but..... before anyone says Lindens dont look at these forums I know they do! ^^ For weeks now my club since it has become more and more popular is getting the attention of griefers several a week, they using graphics cards crashers but last night after some one used a graphics crasher and was quickly caught out before my host crashed and banned the person, they came back later we assume with alts and friends this time spammed the chat and then used a sim crasher this time. When is LL going to do something to stop this? griefers drive people out of sl and effects bushiness etc not to mention crashing sims could damage that sim if it happens a lot? I dunno if servers crash a lot can there be data corruption/loss? Phoebe Avro

Not being funny but unless you buy several second hand parts I don't think you can build a pc that's 'good' for SL and or Sansar, newer 'gaming' graphics cards are longer so you may also need a new case.

1, Is there a rough idea on pc system specs for use in Sansar i.e mid range / recomended for cpu and graphics card for people not wishing to use oculus rift. 2, what sort of bandwidth will Sansar have, I realise Sansar will be using 'substance like tech' and if thats anything like allegorithmic substances that use a compresion method to allow fast downloding of textures/maps etc?

I have an i5 overclocked to 4 gig and a gtx 970 msi and I have to throttle my graphics card or it goes up to 100-120 fps in quieter places

LL now have a picture on the MP with a snowman scene saying 'Have some holiday fun shop for all your favorite winter decorations' with a button that says shop decor that takes you to home and garden decor section of the MP, i see people have started moving Christmas items to that section already! Why is it not linked to the celebrations--->>>>Holidays------->> Christmas listings? I ask you are these people in the LL commerce team just nuts or stupids? Maybe I should start flagging items that are now in the wrong category^^ Edit to add, I have opened a support ticket I recommend anyone that thinks this is an issue also submit a support ticket!

This is also what is happening in the real world where large billionaire corporates are sucking all the money out and not paying much back in by employing new workers or wage rises. At the end of the day there is only so much money.

I am not replying to you Pamela, just your the last poster, LL have done this because they wish to be associated with shiny stuff, this shows big time with the Editors picks on the login page, they like stuff that looks cool in the photos, it does not really matter on what the actual destination is really like in SL just the Image it presents. In the past I have reported a place in the Destination guide because it had camping and was full of bots etc but that place remained in the editors picks for ages. All LL care about is Image. Now to the comments about Sansar, LL are aiming at Pro content this is obvious, but the thing that made SL great was that amateurs could chuck together some prims and sit back and be proud of them! LL are going to walking a tightrope with this. and i predict .... Fail I have yet to meet a single person in world that is even thinking about going to Sansar, not a single person, yeh there are some on some forums that are trumpeting it but that's it. LL are building Sansar for one reason and that is 'More Profit' or so they think. I predict some very disappointed people in the future.

OK lets make this basic, Amazon own a 'Market Place' where they sell items made by 'manufacturers', they also allow 'Merchants' to sell items (made by the same) manufacturers' when Amazon send out emails for special offers they are linked to the items that Amazon sell not those that 'merchants' that use amazon to sell. LL say they don't compete with residents so they are saying they do not make or sell items themselves and only have the LL MP to sell ' other Merchants' Items.

As far as I know all those Amazon deals are from Amazon only and not 3rd parties.

"Rosedale at one point even partnered with a few people on breedables" Yes i read years ago on another forum an Ex Linden stated that LL make more from the MP and Breedables than they do from tier And LL have said time and time again they don't compete with residents! So they have been lying all along!

I have been quiet so far! LL like the 'gloss' now days, many years ago LL had a 'Halloween Spotlight' on the MP or it may have been Xstreet then (BTW LL bought SLX and renamed it to Xstreet, then rebuilt it to the current LL MP) LL sent out emails asking for merchants to submit an item to be considered for their Halloween Spotlight! I looked at the application form, It had the general things like stating your RL ID etc and stated they waned certain sized photos that had no additional graphics and text etc. At the time I was working on my Christmas region/shop and thought my time was better spent working on that since i had a few Halloween items that were selling very well on Xstreet/MP at the time one of them being one of the top selling items on the whole of the website (on the first page of best sellers of the whole of the website)! A week later i received an IM from a Linden saying If i wanted to have my best seller in the Halloween Spotlight with LL I didn't have to fill out the form etc just reply saying 'yes' ^^ I thought about it for 30 seconds and decided no, why should I its selling very well and I am busy working on other things, also it bugged me a bit that LL asked me only because it was one of the top selling items on Xstreet/MP at the time! So i can see why LL want to be associated with merchants that are high profile but at the same time its very poorly thought out! Its typical LL! How many of he the chosen have given feedback on the Search Beta? err NON! Are any Lindens from the Commerce Team gonna comment here i see tumbleweeds!
