  2. you can ban anyone for anything. If i wanted to i could ban you from my land and there is not a damn thing you could do about it. i pay the rent there, my rules.

I need 50 people to answer and all of your answers will really help for me to get a better insight to SL. I refuse to help anyone that has been in SL for 5 months and has a blank profile. Try spending some time in SL, talk to people inworld and make some friends.. experience it for yourself and then ask for help with a dissertation. If you want insight, immersion will give you great insight. Go to a few clubs and talk to people, you wont get a diverse group in the forums. most SLers dont even know they exist.
  4. pssst.. they arent offering a cash incentive. they just want us to share RL thoughts and info out of the goodness of our hearts. i thought we got rid of all of these "college student surveys" @OP try spending some time inworld and asking people questions. ya lazy bum.
  5. omg.. i just got this message in response to my ticket.... "A comment has been added to your Case.. Case: 01343972 Avatar: Drake1 Nightfire Type: Failed Marketplace Delivery Status: Waiting for Customer Acceptance Hello Drake1, Thank you for contacting Linden Lab Support. I want to apologize for the delay in responding to your ticket. I know it is frustrating having to wait on a resolution, but we are working hard to improve the response time. I'm sorry to learn of your delivery problems! Second Life Marketplace deliveries can fail to appear in inventory for a variety of reasons: 1. While shopping and inworld, you either minimized your Second Life viewer or were inactive too long, which put you in "away" mode. All inventory transfers are auto-declined while you are in "away" mode. Declined inventory can sometimes be located in the "Trash" folder. 2. While shopping and inworld, you put yourself in "busy" mode. Again, just like being away, all inventory transfers are auto-declined while you are in "busy" mode. 3. While shopping and offline, your IMs were capped. The Second Life system gives the same treatment to all inventory transfers and offline communications (IMs, notices from scripted devices, etc.), and will turn them off after you reach a certain number of messages. 4. The Region you're in is having problems. This can affect deliveries even if you're logged out of Second Life." Seriously!?!?!? you guys screwed up the marketplace and somehow its my fault i didn't get my items?!?!?
  6. hiding in the grass... Waiting for a lost wanderer. :matte-motes-big-grin:
  7. I would love to see some actual numbers for yesterday. I want to know: 1. How much was spent by customers on the marketplace yesterday. 2. How many merchants were actually paid. 3. What the difference between the two sales figures are. IE what cheating profit LL has made. 4. How many of those products were actually delivered (my purchases are still pending) How a company can decide to ruin the most romantic holiday is beyond me.
  8. Its not just us merchants that are getting screwed. I ordered a new bed, so i could spned some quality time with my RL/SL wife (i am away on business) and guess what, never delivered, money gone from my account but never delivered.. OVER 24 Frickin hours!?!?!? i still show the "1 item has not yet been delivered This item is queued for delivery. Merchants cannot redeliver the item at this time, and have not been paid. If the item is not delivered within 8 hours after purchase, you will automatically receive a refund to your account. If you make a purchase while the transaction is in progress, the refund credit may be applied to your next order." So when does the 8 hours expire and i get my $L back? Way to ruin the number one most romantic holiday LL.
  9. Seems to me this is a discussion on cookies, not biscuits. Both of which are really good btw.
  10. Speaking as a content creator, I think if they chose to market SL with other thins than "Be a Vampire" it would go a long way to helping. As to the inworld search, it's a joke. The MP search would work well if there were no keyword spammers.. just my humble opinion.
  11. Phil Deakins wrote: If sizes in the SL world matched sizes in the RL world, that wouldn't happen, and it's unfortunate that it does happen. It's the "others" who are at fault though, and it's not particularly commonplace. However, if that small minority of people in SL wouldn't insist that things should match the real world, bearing in mind that SL is actually a different world, it wouldn't happen at all. In other words, if everyone fitted in with SL as it actually is, instead of trying to have it as something that it is not, it wouldn't happen. Who says they don't? Every viewer has a height slider that shows your height in appearance. You say that virtual furniture has to be enlarged to fit the larger rooms. Wouldn't that necessitate larger avs? Why not keep the furniture smaller? LL labeled it a meter. They have inches and CM listed in appearance for height. Are we supposed to ignore the measurement tools they have given us and make things based on the gargantuan avs that stand 8 feet tall as males and 7 foot tall Amazonian women? The maxed out avs are the problem not the "realistic" sized ones. You keep saying that the wording should be ignored. I say we should go back to making things sized accurately. By your logic then, all avs should just be maxed out and we should not be able to change our size.
  12. This is the mentality that kills me. Spend $10 USd and get some $L. I can understand wanting to get free stuff, but have you tried LOOKING for it? Go in the marketplace, type child in search and set the cost to 0-10. If this is the mentality of new SLers we are doomed. I never even entertained the thought to ask for free stuff when i signed up.. i spent $20 and bought some clothes and a skin and hair. If you can't afford to make evne a small investment in SL.. There are more and more threads asking for free stuff. Without some paying Slers we wont survive. just my $5L
  13. Phil Deakins wrote: In view of my previous post, I'm gojng to reply to the OP's post again. Does it matter how tall SL avatars are? SL and RL are completely different worlds, and the heights of their inhabitants can't be compared. yes, it matters.. when i get called a child av and booted from a furniture store at 6'-3" there is a problem. People see a (by the measurements) normal human sized av and call them children. If SL and RL were so different why is there all of the bruhaha over whether someone is a teen av simple based on height?
  14. Club looking for Djs, Dancers and Hosts/Hostess. 100% tips No hard core gangsta rap, Sorry. avs must be over 60 days in age and age verified. please contact Drake1 Nightfire in world or leave a reply. offline IMs get sent to email. Thank you. We also have a small mall that has open stores. 35 prims for $200L a week.
  15. OK.. I opened the MP and just hit search.. No keywords, just search.. And it came up with 37 freebies out of 96 on the first page. You can blame the merchants all you want, personally I would cast blame on LL. My ideas on "fixing " this. 1. Freebies and Demos have their own category that will not show up under search. You have to search that category. 2. Discard the whole Direct Delivery idea. Without the need to pay rent for a magic box there will be zero reason to have a store or even a home. 3. Give incentive to police keywords. There are so many lazy merchants that have the same keywords for all of their items it sickens me. You may sell swords but your dresses shouldn't have sword as a keyword. 4. Register every merchant with RL info. We had to give it to verify as adult, apply it to the MP as well. 5. Let people flag items as Copyright infringement again. Why is it OK for someone that breaks the TOS to profit from it? If you wont do it yourselves let us do it. ETA.. spelling
  16. I seem to remember a certain creator of asian style things constantly complaining about the "freebie" and "low cost" items creators not being "serious creators" and "they should be banned from creating." Xstreet and SLEX had the same abundance of freebies. they just werent as front page as they are now. I remember the camping problem (i did say i have been around as long as you) i just never camped for things or money. Why would anyone want to have campers back if they do nothing for the owner? I am going to pay someone to sit on my land for .... what? Freebies are the new camping. Back in the day every club / store/ mall had campers. now they give away freebies and or MM boards. Big whoop. if camping didnt kill SL why would freebies?
  17. IM me inworld, I may have a Hostess job for you depending on your availability.

Also, didnt someone (possibly you, there are too many posts to check) say that most campers were bots back in the day? and they just camped to cash out? how does that help the SL economy? No, i was talking about the original form of camping for money prior to the Camping bans. Noobs are more reliant on Freebies nowadays, whereas before they could earn money to buy half decent products In-world. Actually not only noobs, but plenty of seasoned SL'ers also derived spending money from camping. It wasn't me.....however it was proper Avatar camping to begin with until late 2007. Like all profitable events, it was gamed by individuals loggin in teams of camping Bots (a bit like Chinese Gold farming in WoW).....followed by Merchants replacing actual Avatar campers (saving themselves a lot of money in the process) with their own army of Bots. I'm sure you don't mean to, but they way you respond you sound very condesending.. Speaking as if you are talking to a noob. I have been around SL as long as you have. I seem to remember many many freebies on SLEX and Xstreet. And if it was gamed by bots, how is that a good thing? Why would anyone want that back? I would rather have noobs meet the few actual people inworld than non responsive bots. Noobs have always been reliant on freebies. the freebie warehouse has been around since forever and most merchants back in the day gave a few select freebies to avs less than 30 days old. Quality stuff too. Nowadays they just get the first freebie they find.
  20. I just had a thought when i was explaining this issue to my wife.. When LL switches over to the "direct delevery" method it will open the doors to anyone in LS to sell whatever they want to, without having to pay a dime. No land needed for a magic box. no rent needed for a store. No need to put a single $L back into SL. This is a bad idea. LL needs to make some changes before they implement this. they will have alt after alt selling the same stuff just to maximize profits. Maybe we doo need to register as merchants before we can set up a store on the MP. Possibly have a 60 day age as well. just my $5L :matte-motes-confused:

I agree that getting rid of camping was a big mistake. /me slams on the brakes...... Camping is ok but freebies are evil?!?!?! umm, you might want to check your statements for consistency and logic. It recycles "money supply" which is good for the economy and provides it fluidity (turning over money supply)....Shop A pays Individual B to camp....who in turns spends his earnt camping money in Shop C. That money is moving around and circulating...otherwise you'd be soley reliant on fresh money being brought into SL (BUY Lindens)...offset by the amounts taken out of the economy i.e cashing out (SELL Lindens and Tfr USD). Most of the camping i have seen is for items.. how is that different from freebies? OR to create a select group of people who will be automatically favored in any such dispute. Such is not exactly historically unprecedented in other contexts. Nope...if you want to list on Marketplace one should have to register at a minimum providing real name and address. If you can't make that little step.....then continue with your anonymity selling your products In-world. LL already has my name and address.. I am adult verified. I have no problem with sending in my full info to be a merchant, just like if i had a RL business. which i do. Am i the only one that noticed the huge drop in the value of a $L? back on Xstreet i was getting them $300L for a USD, now its 230. anyone think that has something to do with lower sales?
  24. If a merchant on the MP has a link to their inworld store, that is where i will 99% of the time buy an item.. 1. I don't have to wait 3 hours for my item to be delivered to me. 2. They don't lose 5% to LL. 3. I'm more likely to buy more items if i can see the actual item. 4. I like to explore SL. Going to new stores is fun.
