  1. You are but the discipline is kundalini tantra so you are constantly having to fend off people expecting...something different. I wish I wasn’t catching a cold.
  2. Isn’t the voice morphing a free extended trial of a service from another company? So just a feature they thought the premium accounts might like to use and that they partnered with to hopefully get a commission from? Lots of companies offer these related perks, coupons or trials but we don’t make that kind of assumption.
  3. But that is your definition, or their definition, not mine. Thats LL’s definition, the only one that really sticks. So any other definition or usage is a construct of the individual user and other users are NOT bound or in any way obligated by it. No one is saying you are ‘wrong’ for wanting what you want, but I’ll venture to say that you are going about it the wrong way to actually achieve success at it. As you’ve painfully experienced. I’d estimate that you were deceived largely because you were not at all clear at the outset what the true requirements were. Since you said that the intimacy was already happening and the emotions were already engaged *with the current criteria being A-OK* before the verification card was played, WAS it fair? Or did you move the goalpost? When I meet someone, I assume they are here for their version of ‘their world, their imagination’. But if you haven’t already noped out of this thread @Beth Macbain, I know several of us who are weighing in here *have* quite successfully mixed SL and RL. So we might know a bit about the topic. Just saying.
  4. This whole thing feels kind of dumb and conflated somehow because to address the first part, I’ve never seen ‘voice verified’ on someone’s SL profile unless they were working in a financially compensated job or seeking a situation where that will be a benefit to their clientele. in the relationship arena, I think it’s up to the one who already knows they likely may want to take things RL to disclose THAT info up front, that RL info is going to be an expectation somewhere down the line, not put the onus on the partner later, once emotions are engaged, to ‘verify’ something that they never even presented as an option in the first place, that being any of their RL information. It’s kind of a trap situation, and I bet it’s far more common to see it as ‘they tricked and deceived me’ than it is to realize (and own) ‘i set myself up to expect and require something that they never agreed to give’. We all know to go by face value in SL and what we do here really applies for SL only unless it’s mutually agreed to be otherwise before-hand right? I sure hope so! But that of course requires a person to be honest and up front with the fact that they are using SL as a potential RL dating search and acting accordingly from the start. No coyness or fooling yourself. I think that’s more where the honesty and disclosure needs to happen first. But if your MO is to fling and play first, then start bringing in the requirements, that’s going to fail 99% of the time and yes, you’ll be opening yourself to the probabilities of many partners’ typists not being in RL what they portray themselves to be in SL. They never claimed to be.
  5. The Community Forums are run with a 3rd party service, Invision. I’m assuming the enterprise plans are also time-based leases like the regular ones so I’d expect the forums to also go poof.
  6. Nuuuuu, that’s just evil. She just wants to ‘get the Resident off’. I, I mean she...hasn't even thought about a new first name if that’s part of the package.
  7. This is depressingly true. I’ve started stopping in at a convenience store and getting 2 hard boiled eggs, flavored salt, a cheese stick and a Lära or Rx bar. Less greasy, no wheat, better carbs for me...I don’t get re-sleepy.
  8. They had over 6k submissions, wow! Three names per entry were the stated rules. How many entries per email address/avatar weren’t specified. But you could submit more than one entry, there was a link on the end of the submission to ‘submit another entry’, in fact! Everyone had the opportunity to submit to the competition equally. Speed might have actually been a big factor because the first person to submit a certain good name will be the one considered. Subsequent duplicate entries would just be weeded out by a ‘duplicate word search with a date modifier’ sorting before a human eye ever sees them. Certain types of creative fiction writers probably have an advantage because having a ‘name book’ is a thing, and it’s not hard to tweak a big existing list of RL character last names to better resemble the quirky style of last names LL seems to like, check them against the existing name list and submit them 3x3. That’s already kind of a game a writer plays with every story. I’m assuming each person submitted not only names that would be unique and useable but ones they don’t mind having themselves since I wasn’t sure if the entry you win with is the one you get in the prize. Also not specified. So LL got lots of potential names to use, even if my ’Resident cousin’ doesn’t win. I figure that she supplied a goodly list of maybe not top 5 names but some useable, surely. But watch, there’s going to be some fussing for sure if they still do use the non-winning submissions too, even though entrants agree that LL can use the names as they like, (that was specified) but I can hear it now... ’oh HO...good enough to use but not good enough to win, eh? I see, I see.’ There’s no help for that either, some people actually go around looking for things to be offended by and highlight things that will make them feel slighted. Even in a virtual world where the basic rules apply to all of us and the perks are pretend and most are available for micropayment and additional purchase to everyone. But the people who live by it are always going to be looking for the corroborating evidence for that imagined slighting...sometimes perpetuating the stereotype upon themselves. For instance, all of the Firstname Lastname people have actually already been given one gratis choice of a last name from a list when they signed up.
  9. You do know you can just actually cancel your account(s) and delete it/them completely, right? Would that make it easier for you to just leave SL behind, if the only way possible to ever come back was to start from scratch and sign up again?
  10. Cash out and Vegas, Baby? Weekend trip, prolly. You didn’t say I had to spend in in SL...
  11. I agree, it’s fun how so MANY things can ‘become a hat’ in SL...if you’re so inclined. 🤣🐰
  12. “I’ll briefly speak on voice with you so you can be sure you don’t catch the gay” is probably a thing...but I think it’s more to cut to the chase and say,”I’ll give you a taste of my lovely voice but prepare to offer up your wallet for more since I’m the real deal”. If it was just one short voice verify ever necessary, then sexy text forever...an enterprising person with a good female voice would likely have found a way to be offering that as a custom service as well, as an a la carte script reading.
  13. Complete with bad costume poke-through (yes, fixed)😅
  14. Are you free Thursday next? Just wondering...🤣
  15. I believe it’s most commonly used by people with a vested interest in verifying that they are not a wombat...erm, indeed a ’female’, for reasons various but not maybe 100% nefarious.
  16. It’s not about your language skills, it’s about your lack of comprehension and circular logic, false analogies and the way your storyline quickly devolved. Like Jar Jar’s. 😉
  17. Is anyone else kind of ‘hearing’ OP’s posts in a weird sort of Jar Jar Binks ‘voice’? Or just me...perhaps I just need to go have lunch... Meesa a vampire, and yousa know dat wesa aren’t all mighty bad peoples, yesa it’s true, disa fact... but it’s really a bad shame dat wesa getsa treated so bad by da people who don’t getsa our big and important message, right, so i’m just hair to tell yous these tings...
  18. Also, in case you haven’t heard...video killed the radio star. 🤩 I heard that “SL was dying” very soon after I arrived in 2008. I thought, “well d@mn, I’d better hurry up and start enjoying myself before it goes away”.
  19. Once again you are confusing optional things and preferences that you choose to pretend about to trivialize other people’s real life situations. You can choose to play a vampire in what for many has yes, been a sh!tty and spammy game...gay people (not ‘the gays’, thanks) don’t ‘choose to be gay’ or merely ‘have different likes’. I’m calling troll at this point and nope-ing out. But please know that with this thread you probably confirmed many opinions against allowing the game and probably even convinced a few more people that yes, many bloodlines people do act badly with little regard or respect for those who simply wish to be left out of their game. Blocked and banned.
  20. vampires are not a race, it’s a fictional construct of your purely optional game that no one has to tolerate if they don’t wish to have any game-play actions within their lands. There is no moral debate here. Using racism and then backpedaling to ‘muh preferences’ is a weak argument, and Morals have nothing to do with it either. but continue as you will, you evidently don’t realize that your continuing posts are having the complete opposite effect of the one you say you want?
  21. Do not go there with your pretend ‘vampire race’ RP crap. It’s clearly a game and a choice. With this statement, you trivialize a real and serious human rights issue that so many people have no choice in and are seriously disadvantaged by. Your credibility balance just became 0.00% game over.
  22. No, because no one cares that much. I don’t see any current relevant conversations about this. Play your game with other players, have fun with your in-game friends. Where’s the issue? If you do that then there aren’t any issues. But if you choose to openly play a character out in the general public, in a game that has a deservedly bad reputation from the widespread bad behavior of many of the players, and evidently it IS a game with people still going around asking non-game-players if they can bite them, (so that IS being a spampire) then yes - you can expect a consistently negative reaction just by your presence. You will not change public opinion on this topic, that battle was over before I got here in 2008.
  23. I took it as a stellar example of the type of scintillating conversation one might expect to have were one to play this game. Not helping to build their case much, is it? 🤣
  24. I don’t think there are misconceptions. Many people who play this game have intrusively bugged way too many people who had no wish to be dragged into some spoopy RP game so that bad reputation was earned. You can say ‘not all vampires...’ all you like but the most common reaction will be twofold... 1) who cares and 2) shoo, bat, shoo.
