  1. LoL at giving away free chandeliers .. I cannot wait to claim mine because I only made one so far and need more of those for my many unfinished houses. I wonder if they are Copy Mod Transfer as such items should be? Maybe they are doing this to eliminate the Drama ? If everything is free who cares which breedable rat system is sueing the other breedable Lag bomb makers and other IP drama tat results whenever a money value is associated..
  2. more deliveries of free and super cheap items = longer cue and congestion = delivery failures en masse oh and more people on vacation theory possibility... in order to go on vacation you need money.. so therefore.. the rich people hire a poor housekeeper and while they are away the housebitches sign on to SL and see all the free and super cheap stuff pretty stuff and buy it ALL. This in return causes massive congestion and therefore more delivery failures. whatever happened here is totally on purpose and since they do not listen they will see that this , coupled with the devaluation of Land prices will send them all to the unemployment line sooner than later.

Mickey Vandeverre wrote: yo VonG - went to check your mix and when you type in DATS building supplies into store/merchant search your store doesn't pull up. it pulls up in general search though. might want to add link in sig because VonGklugelstein is hard to spell lol @ mix.. I thought I mixed it up pretty good.. and.. I just noticed what you were talking about regarding the inworld search..its so trashed that is almost funny.. It sems that Search now ignores all Content and only ranks the title and parcel description. So.. a Dork store with 2 Door textures for sale can now be # 1 in ALL search over a place that has thousands of them ...
  5. volume up, average price per item moving further down to where they want it.. free. August 8 .. the Date that lives in infamy...
  6. haha my AV is not far beyond that stage except for the thing driving it is far more advanced, wicked and evil since it started.. sorry to hear about that.. it Irks me when I see people who put in a ton of effort have to take steps backwards because of circumstances beyond their control. you still have your main store though , right?
  7. Chelsea Malibu wrote: Another example would be items like I sell. You really don't get the benefit seeing them in 2D as others make similar products that are what I consider 2D. However, what you sell is mostly 2D textures for 3D models. In the end, (and please don't take offence to this) you have to better then your competition to succeed. Just having stuff and offering it at a low price does not mean it will sell. You are competing with the likes of TRU which is run by professional Photoshop artist and 3D Concepts which most don't know is actually Marlin Textures, one of the most successful texture companies for 3D modelers and architects outside of SL. If you can find a niche that you know you can outdo everyone on the grid with, then you pour everything you have into it and then push, push and push. It takes time and moreover, talent. Use both to your best, understand retail and seo and then market the hell out of yourself. I guess what I am trying to say is just this.Sometimes it just mean trying harder and stop blaming the MP. :matte-motes-big-grin-wink: This has nothing to do with competition btw.. and my product line is also not a factor. I am sure this affects other types of product types as much as it does me. How would you feel if somebody came around and started dumping sculpt or mesh chandeliers that are better than yours for 1L to the point where nobody had a reason to go look at yours in world anymore because who cares about losing 1L? oh and.... neither of them 2 ding'a'lings are my comptition , just a FYI.
  8. Darrius Gothly wrote: VonG, I think the best answer for you would be "it depends". If you are selling a type of product that is easily examined and evaluated from just a website listing page then I'd say you'd be best to dump the in-world store and focus on website sales. But if you sell things that need to be "touched" to get a good feel for them then you should not abandon your in-world outlet.. I found that the majority of recent sales on MP are the lesser priced items now. People do not even get to see the better items unless they want to scroll through a hundred pages of cheapos including my lower priced items. There has been several significant changes in this pattern since I started but definetly the change on the 8th of this month has had the most dramatic effect. Until now whenever they made such a drastic change to the SLM they reversed their mistake a day or 2 later but this time it seems that they actually are meaning to finish off all merchants that pay tier. Back in the SLX days my inworld sales were 90% now I do not think its even 1%. So there.. "it depends" on them more so than me.. I have done all I could to promote the quality of my product by making better stuff, displaying it in world, buying feature ads and inworld classifieds etc.. and as it is unless I make it all dirt cheap it will never be found or sold.
  9. Since its obvious that nothing is being done about the horror scene you created for In world stores with your new shiny freebie gift giver you call the Marketplace, I am weighing the options of abandoning my store land and setting all my items to 1-9L on your marketplace. I promise I will keep my free 512 full of magic boxes until you enable DD. Since the marketplace opened virtually all my store owning neighbors have abandoned their land and or set it for sale for really cheap hoping that I will buy it. I am the only one left with a functioning store in my area but sales in them are so dismal compared to SLM that its not worth the effort to maintain. What do you think I should do?
  10. what are you exactly trying to say? That you are the ruler of all cartoon world commerce or just Come buy my chandeliers now because sales almost stopped because everything is now free?
  11. I never said "leave the marketplace". Just to clear that up.
  12. it needs to stay rezzed permanently to comunicate with the website.. yes

  14. Clyde Lindman wrote: However, as with the delisting of or listing fees on freebies, LL ain't going to let that happen. It will be their ticket to the unemployment line. This is all I am stressing in the other thread.. they are cutting off their own income by allowing it. Any CEO that catches their employees hack at the profit margin of a company in this blatant manner would go ballistic and fire everybody involved. Free items belong inworld only! This way there is incentive for people to spend time in world instead of laying on the couch on their dingleberries while not even logged on, buying stuff they will probably never even use just because its cheap. Clyde Lindman wrote: So while the SL marketplace is far from ideal, LL is being very careful not to give its merchants any real reason to leave in any great numbers and thus anyone trying to start up will have a long uphill battle to win over customers. It wouldn't take much to convince some major merchants and if a few of them make a move, the rest will follow . I am still cleaning up the catastrophe they caused me during the merge from SLX to this thing. If I am going to be rewriting listings for the third time, I may as well do it elsewhere too. if my suspicion is correct.. DD will require an insane amount of work as well. Come to think of it... screw DD.. I have never not received an item I bought on either SLX or SLM so as a customer... besides waiting for a few hrs at times, I never had a failed delivery that I can recall.
  15. WADE1 Jya wrote: Nope, marketplace is the only game in town. All we can hope for at this point is Linden keep improving marketplace to make it work awesome. I think it will keep slowly getting better, it has improved a lot already There is a couple alternate web stores existing. Against forum rules to mention them by name I think. Anyways, they are tiny & if someone set up another one today, it would struggle to capture even a fraction of that tinyness. Remember Linden are doing direct delivery soon too. How does any new alternate compete with direct delivery + there is 99% of the market already captured by Linden? Its been a year + and I still cannot sort my featured listings by date or sort my sales by item.. not to mention the huge gaps in category lists or the fact that people are blatantly gaming the site's defects without any consequences. Nobody ever thought that google would kill yahoo's search engine market.. and the reason LL has 99% of the market with their busted up excuse of a webstore is that passive people and pesimists keep preaching that it cannot be done. oh and another merchant neighbor of mine bit the dust, almost half a sim abandoned and for sale.... no more need for inworld stores anymore I guess since its so easy to just sell everything on the marketplace for 1-9L
  16. Sassy Romano wrote: Developing something that uses the equivalent of a magic box will only result is something that ends up in the same problems as you experience right now. Who pays for hosting, who manages it and would they sell out to LL when LL wants to kill off the competition for a 3rd time? I assumed that Apez was bought so that it could be fattened up in the hope of it being bought by LL but it never happened. It worked for SLX , Direct delivery is far from important enough to let it steer the functionality of the actual website I would pay the hosting but it would require a team of people to build/manage. Its too much for any single person. Selling it is also dumb if it were very profitable. As to Apez... that is a bad choice for a name and that is probably why it never caught on with the masses. I wouldn't buy it or use it.. that is my test.
  17. Are there any independant web stores left? and if not why don't we make one? Considering that the current setup scrams for a " If you want it done right, you have to do it yourself " approach.
  18. I once had about 4-5 free items on my listings. They made up 25% of all transactions while I had over 1100 regular listings.. extrapolate those numbers across the entire market place lol.. Ouch! Also note to Mickey.. My sales have not gone back to normal. Over the last week all my really cool items moved away from the top of my store, and now I have the items that are supposed to be my junky ones and sales items (low priced) on top. A 1L item I have that hardly sold at all is now # 1.. I did change the price after seeing that..
  19. Darrius Gothly wrote: How many from L$10 to L$1000? L$1000 and up? 1.5 Million from 11-1000 65000 over 1000L
  20. There are currently about 65000 Items listed between 0L and 1L There are now almost 100000 listings where merchants do not pay any commsiions. (0L-9L) Now go out and compete ..lol Chances are these items make up the bulk of all traffic and you wonder why there are delivery problems?
  21. I like the 1L charge per free item and 1L Item delivered rule I proposed in another thread here better lol.. 1L fee per free item delivered and 50% commission on all items between 2L and 25L would be a nice touch. 25L is 10 cents.. where I live you'd have to sell 45 units at 25L to buy a decent cup of coffee!
  22. Darrius Gothly wrote: Freebies serve a very important purpose, they provide entry-level users with a ready resource of unknown quality stuff .. but it's STUFF. Stuff they can wear, use, rez and learn all about Second Life. Zero risk learning too. All they have to invest is some time. SLM knows how much you have in your L$ account. If you have zero L$ on deposit, then put the Freebies on top. If you have a decent balance then pick some fraction of that amount and center the search around that value. So if you've got L$200 on deposit, then weight items that cost L$100 higher than those that are more or less expensive. In short, you create a result that is much more relevant to the shopper's "buying power". They also need to calculate the "Price Curve" for a Category. Just like most distributions, I strongly suspect that the prices for any particular category could be accurately represented by a Bell Curve. If someone's L$ balance is below the peak of the curve, weight the lower priced items slightly more "relevant" than the higher priced ones. If they have more in their balance, rank the other way. true for the first .. but WAY too complex for the second.. we really do not need a more complex weighing system because the one they have now is inadequate. A simple master category for Free and Items below say 25L that is EXCLUDED from search unless you are viewing the category. In the beginning the free items page on SLX was a help to most of us. Considering that the current marketplace is Killing in world sales and forcing store owners to give up their stores in droves is a clear indication that something drastic must be done. I had no problems finding free items way back.. you just had to look for them. One thing is for sure, they were not handed to you on a silver platter. Maybe they should take all free items on the market place and bulk deliver them directly to every memebers inventory so that everyone has one.. a great way to test their ne direct delivery system.
  23. In case they need a reminder.. the change that made this mess was done on 8/8/2011.
  24. Ciaran Laval wrote: The marketplace continues to grow, the size of the world is falling, there are bigger issues with the marketplace than freebies and low cost items. they are related. The marketplace as it is now has caused the demise of many merchant, as well as virtually eliminated the need for a in world store unless you sell houses for more than a few hundred L$'s. Most people on the marketplace just look at pretty pictures and click buy on the prettiest ads because the average price of items is falling rapidly so its not a big loss if the product is less than expected.
