That's a lovely location. It's so popular, other campers come visiting.
That's an awesome spot.
Visitors are high on my home location wish list. I like feeling like I'm part of a neighborhood.
I moved to a little trad in Miller's Pond on 3/31 and logged in to see the Apartment block on April Fools' day. I hadn't even had coffee and asked about them in group chat. Patch trolled me and pretended it was an accident and that 'theme' wasn't supposed to be released yet. I apologized profusely for letting the cat out of the bag, then felt like such a doofus when I remembered what day it was and how unlikely it would be that apartments like that could be a real thing.
So many people came 'round looking at the apartments- Moles, Lindens, the Slenderman, It's the most fun couple of days I've had in SL in a really long time. Unless one of the upcoming themes is sleek modern homes, I'm staying here for awhile.

I'm so psyched. I upgraded an alt and she got a chalet in Alpinecrest. I'm at work now- I can't wait to see it tonight.

Ooooh, my bad. Yes, Kustom9 (didn't it use to be Kustom8? I guess I need to pay attention more.)

It's on the wall on the right hand side (landmark will take you to the entrance).
You might be thinking of Collabor88, one of the early sales events that's still going strong.

Back in the days of the old Linden Homes I would only go premium when they had a sale on, and I think the initial rush on Meadowbrook had subsided by the time I got one; the choice of styles was still limited, though. I would just pick something and stay there until my reduced-fee membership was up. I had a nice Tahoe next door to a park once, but apart from that the landscaping was much the same everywhere, so no real incentive to move around unless the neighbors were unusually obnoxious. It doesn't surprise me that some people haven't budged in a decade and show no signs of doing so.
Same on waiting for the sales. I wanted a Meadowbrook when they were difficult to ge and discovered GOH even back then. I tried the other styles while I waited on a Meadowbrook and finally got one on a transition border into the Shareta homes so I had a pretty view and at least one nice neighbor. I really hope one of the upcoming themes is modern. I have many 50L fridays worth of Fancy Decor that I'd like to showcase.

You can make your own mailbox with a "receive notecard" script. IM me for a free one, or they are in the "Alchemist's" site in the SL Public Lands Preserve where there are a bunch of free scripts. There are also these devices sold by several makers which send postcards or anonymous crush messages. I'm putting this in one of my Victorian homes.
I will Prok! Thank you for the offer. I turned my stilt into a little yoga studio and left it public. It would be nice to know if anyone stopped by and liked it.

Hi, I'm Sid. I has been almost 11 years since I posted something on these forums.
Main reason was that I always concentrated on posting on SLU and later VVO.
The last years VVO turned more and more into a political forum with less and less attention for what is happening in SL.So here I am, testing the waters in this forum again, because SL still is important to me after 14 years.
Sid Nagy, a 14 year old forum newbie with more than 100 posts. 😅
Hi Sid! I used to post on SLU occasionally too! I might have your 100 beat, but not by much. I looked at my history and apparently I was pretty active in 2011 which is the last time I changed my profile pic. Good to see you fellow renewbie.

I'd like functional mailboxes for Bellesaria. It would be neat to be able to drop someone a note when you looked at their open house home, let a friend know you stopped by, or send holiday or rezzday cards. Or to rp as mail carriers. I'd also like to be able to rotate a home in 90degree increments so I get the best view.

Forgive me if this isn't the correct location to ask for this sort of thing, but I am totally new to renting & how to go about looking for rentals so I figured to just post what I'm looking for and someone may know?
I am a furry avi looking for an apartment of sorts to rent! It can come pre-decorated or whatnot if needed as I am not much of a decorator myself, so long as I can play my own music and perhaps a few of my own photos 🙂 - if it's unfurnished that's cool too I can decorate myself !
I am looking for something relatively smaller, would super prefer a city-ish view but in all honesty I'm just looking for a place to finally call home haha!
I saw something recently that sounds like it would be perfect for you. I was called 'Ontiville' -here's a link from the FabFree blog:

Im a bit new and I dont have actual money to spend on much but I was wondering if there is a way to get a free home or something along that line..... I was abit scared to ask this question due to being new and all... but um it would be much help if there was a free home/apartment or something
There are some newbie friendly places that allow you to set home as long as you join their group. Greylady Gardens used to do that if they're still around. Also try the group 'Carribean Homes'.

Apple Fall has the Lily Seating. Comes in sofa or chair. If I remember correctly, the wicker has 3 or 4 different wood tones The print I love is the "Vines" that might work for you, also has a sailor stripe which is adorable. Might be worth checking out!!
That's gorgeous! Thank you. I'll take a look at it inworld this evening!

Anyone have recommendations for makers of floral or tropical print living room furniture?
I've found plenty with menus to change the accent pillows, but the main part of the sofa or chair is solid or a subtle tone on tone stripe or something. The bolder prints I've found were plaids. Great for a woodland but I'm really feeling a floral or palm print for my altie's stilt. Wicker or rattan would be a bonus but I'll take any leads I can get. Thanks in advance.

Oh, that might be it - I was about to call you out for cheating, as you have a post count of 1, and a reputation score of 4 - without that one post having any reactions to it!
I'm surprised I have that much. I wasn't very active when I WAS active. But yeah, I think I faded out around 2011, popping back in for an hour here or there every few months just to see what was new.

I'm a 'renewbie' & I'm so pleased with most things about the new homes. I bounced around catching & releasing for a couple of days and have wound up with the sweetest houseboat with a view of a lighthouse in 'Aboat time' region. Love it.

Very nice, Nimue! Reminds me of that bit from Meatloaf's Bat out of Hell album, "The Wolf with the Red Roses".
I love freeform poetry as well, e.e. cummings particularly. My brain just goes toward limericks and traditional rhymes though. ;-).

Loving everyone's creativity! Here's an SL poem I wrote a while back (you can see how long a while by some of the designer references.)
In every club you'll see her,
Standing tall and oh so slim.
She's a hostess, maybe model,
Knows the owner of the sim.
And she'll get your butt ejected
If you don't bend to her whims.
She's the picture of perfection,
From her Truth down to her Moodys,
With her League jeans sitting low enough
To show her Redqueen booty.
She's a pixelated goddess
But inside, there's something wrong,
Because no one ever friends her,
When her clothes are on.

I definitely notice male avatars. Aside from just looking nice, quirky or interesting details on your av are excellent ice-breakers for conversation.
-
Not that surprising really. Some of us consider newbie male makeovers as a sacred responsibility. ;-)
-
There are some very nice male outfits in the group gift areas at Ydea & at the mensstuff lounge @Maverick designs. :-) try Santo for sneakers and the lucky chairs at Deathrow Designs for boots.
-
Belleza has gorgeous male skins. They have two (maybe3) male skinpacks out as group gifts right now. The join fee is 250L, but they send out gifts at least a couple of times a year.

Tamara Artis wrote:Are you asking this question because you're an 'old creep' who likes to use curse or sexuall words in front of kids, so you want to be sure SL can't detect them automatically?Your account is 4 days old and allready you have your groups hidden. Are you an alt or just some really fast learning noob who allready managed to find secret groups and the option to hide them lolPeople said it allready, SL is for grown ups and kids should try to play RL!
-
True, good point.
Sevrer didn't give the actual age, though, and the amount of concern over him possibly hearing curse words made me think he might not be 16 or over.
Of course, hovering parents will hover even over grown children.
I don't know, I just dislike the influx of very young people lately & it's making me testy.

Sevrer wrote:I'm a parent, and my underage teen would like to use Second Life.Since he is underage, does Second Life Monitor chat logs, so no old creep harasses my son?If someone speaks to my son, uses curse words, or sexual words or sexual harassment, it seems like this should be reported. If my son does not report to me himself, I would at least like this to be monitored. Seems like a very simple feature. Detect sexual words or curse words, report to Linden Labs and ban...Is this possible?
Question 1: Do you use SL? If not, I suggest you sign up and spend a few days here. Then decide if it's a good place for your 'underage teen' to spend his free time.
Question 2: You obviously know the likelihood of your son being approached sexually by an adult. Are you also aware of the likelihood that your son may be interested in SL partly because of the readily available sexual content?
Question 3: Why do you expect Linden Lab to assume your responsibilities as a parent when the platform they designed is not even remotely a platform for minors?
Would you sneak your son into a strip club or a bar but expect someone to tell you if he looks at the strippers or tries to have a drink? Speaking for myself, I'm trying to have fun in here, not babysit. "Gether kid outta mah party!"
This is ridiculous & I call troll.
ETA: Just in case you weren't trolling, on the "seems like it would a simple curse/sexual word filter" issue. It wouldn't be. For one thing, besides the fact that 'sexual words' is kind of subjective and would differ by context. There would be the matter of whether an old creep went into a G sim, chatted up your kid and said inappropriate things, or whether your son wandered into the Old Harassing Creeps-R-Us sim and managed to overhear them while they were minding their own creepy business.

The last thing I want SL to become is Facebook. The second to last is 'normal'. ;-).
Top 5 Linden Home Models & Landscapes?

Difficult choices! A lot depends on the location. I've gotten bland homes in every style and a few spectacular ones that made me like a style I thought I didn't care for.
A lot also depends on the home controller choices too. If the Trads had the redecorating options that the Vics and Stilts have, it would be Trad for me hands down.
Without considering the great resident made addons:
For homes:
For landscapes:
There's also the season to consider. I kept a woodland from fall though the new year because they look so cute done up for Christmas, February had me craving the beach and then I got a yin to play with retro/mid-century modern and the Trads are perfect for that. I'm having a ball with all the themes really. Kudos to Patch and all our hardworking Moles, even if they did tear down the apartments.
