If anyone inquires about something that could easily be found via a scanner or inspecting, I wouldn't be opposed to answering.

Skin and shape are a little different - can't refer them to the creator of the shape as that would be myself (and I'm not selling it, it's mine!), and skin just feels a little too personal. Same with BOM clothes, if someone asks where my alt's knickers or bra are from it would be kind of creepy as that's an inferred confession of peeking up her skirt or down her blouse.

I agree about the skin and shape. This is the only thing I feel personal and private with my avatar. I make my own shape and it is a work in progress since I started Second life. Finding the skin I really like is also not easy as getting a new hair or a pair of shoes. Most of the time I only say the brand 'cos I also have to accept the fact that what I am wearing is a ready-to-wear skin that also worn by a number avatars around the grid.

I hope this is the right place to open this topic.
I don't know how SL is different from other virtual worlds out there. But there are games like VRchat that gives the player an option of a house to return to.
In SL everything costs money (a lot of money) and in-game currency is not really a thing, unless you have a job or successful business.
Since my first day in SL I don't understand why we didn't get a private place that we could call home. A place to rezz things in instead of looking for a sandbox. Change clothes, work on our shape freely instead of looking for an empty place to do so. And so on. The minimum is to get a completely empty place, not necessarily a furnished house. Just a place that will only be yours.
Why do you think free houses don't exist in SL?

Just put it this way. Having your own place in Secondlife is like maintaining your own website where you can put anything you want for other people to see and experience. Running and maintaining a server cost real life money

The PBR viewer is NOT the official viewer – it is a beta viewer and all kinds of issues can emerge on it. Meaning YMMV

The latests official viewer is the 6.6.14 version.

This is the one I'm currently using:

    7.0.0.581684 - GLTF Material Import

    Release Notes

    PBR GLTF Materials Project

Second Life is excited to take the next step and ship the GLTF PBR Materials viewer as a Release Candidate, offered to a small group of Residents, but as an RC anyone may install it. At this time the Second Life main grid does not support GLTF PBR Materials... yet. Watch this space for updates.

UPDATE: PBR Materials now has limited availability on our Main grid (Agni) as a Beta Project and may be previewed on specific regions:

    • Rumpus Room (and Rumpus Room 2, 3, 4 and 5)
    • Preflight0 through 8 (Limited access)

Previously it was, and still is, available as an early Alpha Project on our Beta grid (Aditi) and also only on specific regions:

    • Materials1
    • Materials Adult
    • Rumpus Room (and Rumpus Room 2, 3, and 4)

Refer to the “Known Issues” section for more information.

  4. Because Piggu is designed as 1 whole avatar unlike the stand alone mesh body that doesn't really match the fat level of the stand alone mesh head. Most or maybe all mesh head brands has well defined head structure, from super model to Instagram model aesthetic and when it pair to a plus size mesh body, it doesn't look right. You are only plus size from the neck down. The only down side of Piggu avatar is the limited choice of apparel and customization  https://marketplace.secondlife.com/stores/59536

If you use Firestorm, simply hover your cursor over a random fashionista wannabe and watch the IMs roll in with "wHy ArE u LoOkInG aT mE!! StOp LoOkInG aT mE!!!!eleventyones"

Omg I encountered someone like this a couple of days ago in a busy club. I always position my camera to my own avatar to watch my dance anims but sometimes other avatar will block the view because it's tight and crowded. A polio survivor looking female avatar messaged me out of nowhere "Did you get what you want? Do you want me to help you with your avatar?"... 🤣🤣🤣
