Yes. A very vague privacy agreement. But we all signed it so. -

Open letter to Linden Lab: Enforcing policies?
TimKoul replied to Sid Nagy's topic in General Discussion Forum
I just thought it was a website to show where all the real avatars were on the grid. Or that is what a lot of people made it out to be, initially. So bots were collecting all this data and then publishing it automatically? The whole thing was being automated? -

That's a really stupid comparison. -

Needing to use a script just to see that information doesn't make it "public", just means it's accessible to those who know how to get it. If it's so public as claimed, but there's no option to display it anywhere, it's not public but instead hidden. -

So who are the "recipients"? Bots? Anyone with lsl knowledge? -

I just assumed all that info stayed within SL boundaries though. -
Open letter to Linden Lab: Enforcing policies?

I consider ones account status (premium, plus, basic) to be private since there's no way to able to show that on our profiles or anywhere else on any SL website so it's basically hidden information. But apparently Lindens made it public info via a script so it doesn't violate their privacy policy? So bots can just harvest it and post it on a 3rd party website? I'm really confused. -

That can be exploited so easily. Create 3 accounts in your house. 5 at the local library. 5 more at a friend's house. 5 more at a Starbucks. Etc etc etc. -

Everyone can have as many alts or bots as they wish regardless of what the TOS says. There's literally nothing stopping you from using different emails and having 10 alts per email. The honor system they apparently use is seriously flawed. They should absolutely police the grid like they do these forums. But maybe they won't....can't even...the cleanup job would probably take decades. -
And since no one can tell the difference, and LL doesn't care enough to do anything to show the userbase the difference, oh well. I don't care. Ban them.
-
Both the TOS and and privacy policies are complete jokes. If bots can gather all our information and post it all outside of SL and that's totally fine then there's no point in having either. Mind you, LL can change and update their TOS and policies at any time to accommodate whatever they want. That said, bots should be banned considering all they do is datamine.

Sorry. This is not OK. B bots profile scraping.

Again, if its openly available for anyone to view, where is the option for me to make it publicly viewable? If its only available via a script, that makes it hidden. -

and yet, security breaches still exist. You know 100% is unrealistic. -

Oh, ok. Where is the option for me to make my account status public then? I would like everyone to see that I am currently on a freebie basic plan without the need for scripting (which does seem stalkerish) to find that out. -

I would say its not easily accessible. Its not displayed on your profile or even the web profile and you would have to know how to code (utilize that function as you said) or whatever to find it. That, to me, is hidden. So whats stopping a bot from grabbing your actual account information like email and password? -

So the only way for someone else to see it is by using a script? I wouldn't call that public info, exactly. -

That is what I assumed too. I'm just now reading about it. I was wrong. It looks like they are pulling from profiles, whats already public. Except the account status info: basic, premium, premium plus. So my point about the account info is still valid. -

If you choose the option "nobody" or "friends" to show your feed or any other part of your profile, its no long public (DUH). Some bot comes along and posts literally everything about you, on the internet, for all to see, without caring for privacy settings, that is a privacy breach. -

TimKoul replied to Coffee Pancake's topic in General Discussion Forum
So basically....the "privacy" section in everyone's web profile isnt really private? Why have the options to choose who we can show it to then? So the "nobody" option is just a sick joke then? The whole "privacy" section is a sick joke? If a bot can grab ACCOUNT DATA thats supposed to be private and post it on some random website thats supposed to be about....traffic?...., whats stopping them from also having our passwords and emails and posting them too? Why does LL allow this? I would absolutely sue. This is so wrong. The shady practices that the Lab does is the reason they are a private company. The amount of lawsuits that would spring from this if they were public would financially ruin them. -
Difficullt start for new participants?
TimKoul replied to Robsfl's topic in General Discussion Forum
Is there really no teachable method on how to buy and wear a piece of clothing for new people? It's not so complicated once you get used to it but SL has always had a bit of a hard learning curve. -
Lack of Customer Service by Linden Lab/

It's a subscription to a virtual world. Any issues can wait two days. It's Christmas, people don't generally sit and stare at a computer screen all day this time of the year. -

What is so important that you can't be bothered to recognize the importance of spending time with real life families on Christmas vs a virtual world issue? My god...your issue can wait till Monday.
