Oh look, it's the generic 'we never expected this' response lol -

Yes. A very vague privacy agreement. But we all signed it so. -

I'm just going to say that I absolutely agree with you. -
Open letter to Linden Lab: Enforcing policies?

I just thought it was a website to show where all the real avatars were on the grid. Or that is what a lot of people made it out to be, initially. So bots were collecting all this data and then publishing it automatically? The whole thing was being automated? -

That's a really stupid comparison. -

Needing to use a script just to see that information doesn't make it "public", just means it's accessible to those who know how to get it. If it's so public as claimed, but there's no option to display it anywhere, it's not public but instead hidden. -

So who are the "recipients"? Bots? Anyone with lsl knowledge? -

I just assumed all that info stayed within SL boundaries though. -

I consider ones account status (premium, plus, basic) to be private since there's no way to able to show that on our profiles or anywhere else on any SL website so it's basically hidden information. But apparently Lindens made it public info via a script so it doesn't violate their privacy policy? So bots can just harvest it and post it on a 3rd party website? I'm really confused. -

That can be exploited so easily. Create 3 accounts in your house. 5 at the local library. 5 more at a friend's house. 5 more at a Starbucks. Etc etc etc. -

Everyone can have as many alts or bots as they wish regardless of what the TOS says. There's literally nothing stopping you from using different emails and having 10 alts per email. The honor system they apparently use is seriously flawed. They should absolutely police the grid like they do these forums. But maybe they won't....can't even...the cleanup job would probably take decades. -
And since no one can tell the difference, and LL doesn't care enough to do anything to show the userbase the difference, oh well. I don't care. Ban them.

Both the TOS and and privacy policies are complete jokes. If bots can gather all our information and post it all outside of SL and that's totally fine then there's no point in having either. Mind you, LL can change and update their TOS and policies at any time to accommodate whatever they want. That said, bots should be banned considering all they do is datamine.

Sorry. This is not OK. B bots profile scraping.

Again, if its openly available for anyone to view, where is the option for me to make it publicly viewable? If its only available via a script, that makes it hidden. -

and yet, security breaches still exist. You know 100% is unrealistic.
