  1. Sorry to bring this back up, but this misinformation is bothering me. You can play Call of Duty and Black Desert on mobile. Black Desert has a 10GB install. Mobiles designed to accommodate modern graphics are old news. The main issue with mobiles is the limited control system. You've only got a screen and gyro, making complex interactive systems difficult to implement. But Second Life isn't about gameplay systems or mechanics, for most players it's essentially a walking simulator, building/housing/decor simulator, dressup game, and social/chat client - all of which are ideal for mobile play. Second Life is actually, in theory, a great mobile app. If they can get it functioning in a reasonably useable state is a different question entirely, however.
  2. For me at least, it's because creating the promo image is the very last step of my process. Usually I'm creating for an event and working against a deadline, so I want to make sure all of the important parts are working first; which means the items are already packed, vendors setup and tested. Then I can use whatever time I have left to make the promo image as nice, or as quickly as I need to. And honestly, even if I have time left, the last thing I want to do is repackage everything/update the vendors/test once again. You make a good point, however! I also like to see the preview image. Would putting the promo image into the demo be a decent compromise? I don't package those (because I find it terribly annoying as a customer), so it wouldn't be any trouble.
  3. People generally join chatrooms with the intention to chat, there isn't really much else to do. What do people come to SL to do? All kinds of things. A chatroom encourages chat not only by virtue of being a chat room, but also because it generally defines the subject matter, or purpose of the chat. Look at any Discord server and you'll find some base level of organization. Each channel has a purpose which directs the conversation. Look at guilds/freecompanies/linkshells in WOW or FFXIV: there is usually some intention, be it raiding, hunting, socializing, roleplaying, etc. And even then, in a chatroom you only see the chatters, because that's all there is to see. You don't see the silent group - without avatars they're invisible. Strangers stand around in silence because they are strangers with no common goal or purpose or reason to interact. If you want to chat with people, you need to find people who share your purpose of chatting. But in SL people can have all kinds of purposes. You can't force socialization. Regardless of the environment, people who want to socialize will find a way to do it. And people who don't, won't.
  4. Is the bot open source? Imagine if we could convince shopping events to each put one up and collect all of that sweet sweet data... But until then I'm doing what your friends did and making my next event release legacy only to see what happens.
  5. I understand the technical and ethical reasons for some people not liking it, but I have to wonder if the "whales" (players who spend considerably more than average) in this environment really care all that much? At the end of the day they're usually the target demographic for this kind of thing.
  6. Is Legacy not a viable competitor to Maitreya? In my experience I've only ever had people ask me to support Legacy, so I'm switching to it. Is the bot that goes around checking what bodies people are wearing capable of reporting the region the bodies were located in? I think we could extrapolate more useful data on the subject if we knew what percentage of bodies were found at events vs private homes, for example.
  7. It doesn't really matter how many people wear mait in general, it matters how many people who wear mait regularly purchase clothing. It just makes sense that people who wear the newest bodies are probably the biggest consumers.
  8. you teleport in VR because walking makes many people feel nauseous.
  9. I guess I was lucky, I filed a ticket last night and it was resolved by this afternoon! I don't know if this makes any difference, but I filed it under Account > Viewer Login. There wasn't really an appropriate category, but I figured it was an account issue more than anything and the other subcategories seemed to regard more serious issues. I wrote "I'm filing a ticket to get my IP terms flag set on Aditi, as the button to do it myself on the mesh upload status page appears to be broken. Sorry if this is the wrong category. Thank-you!".
  10. Didn't want to make a new thread, so I'll post a question related to the beta grid here if that's okay. I'm having an issue where I can't upload mesh models because the "accept IP terms" link on the aditi mesh upload status page doesn't seem to do anything (aside from refresh the page). This is the webpage the viewer redirects me to accept the terms: https://secondlife.aditi.lindenlab.com/my/account/ip/index.php?lang=en-US I am able to upload mesh on the normal grid. Should I file a ticket? Or am I missing something? Thank-you!
  11. Thanks for responding! I don't have devkits for any popular bodies, so I'll have to make some things for standard or open source bodies first anyways haha. I found your post in this thread: Is the Ruth 2.0 still a decent option? I'm not particularly worried if it's super popular, just something easy to work with that I can use to show off my designs/apply for devkits.
  12. I've been learning how to create mesh clothing and was excited to make things for Second Life, until I reached the point in development where I would need to do test uploads. I submitted a support ticket for access to the beta grid (as per the wiki guidelines), but just found out they haven't been able to sync accounts for 7 months. https://lindenlab.freshdesk.com/support/solutions/articles/31000156725-accessing-aditi https://status.secondlifegrid.net/incidents/q3mnxnpys7dt To say I was disappointed is an understatement. Isn't this a core feature for content creators? I know it doesn't cost very much, but it's more the principle of the matter. Are there any other alternatives? Thanks for your time.
