  1. It's funny you should say that about the shape, because I'm kind of making it up as I go. I completely agree about the oversized Hulk avatars, though. I'm at 35 on my muscle sliders, with just a bit of stomach, saddle bags, etc. added in, because it feels more real. Even that high is feeling a bit bulky. As far as the hair color, my RL is such a dark brown that it usually gets mistaken for black, so I was sticking to something close to it, but I know what you mean. 90% of the guys I see in SL are black hair. So, if I can go dark brown with an aesthetic that stands out and appeals to me at the same time? I'm all in. Now, if I could just get a Viking/Norse tattoo somewhere in-between what I'm wearing in this pic and "I just Google image searched Norse symbols and pasted them all over the body", that'd be great. 😅
  2. I really liked the black and had no plan to change, but decided to try the dark brown and.. you know what? I like it better. 🙂
  3. Indeed, and I'm already progressing beyond that. It may take a bit for me to understand something, but I hit the ground running once I do. 🙂
  4. I'm still struggling. I honestly thought I'd finally wrapped my head around it all, bought the Gianni body and Skyler head, thinking that was all I needed. When adding the Skyler head left me with just floating eyes and a mouth, I assumed Skyler must be a skin for the Gianni head. No. Bought the Gianni head and can't get that to work, either. So, fine. I go and get a demo skin that's supposed to work with Lelutka heads, except I still can't get it to be anything other than floating eyes and mouth. All of this then leaving me with this: If Skyler isn't a skin, WTF is it? Sorry, but my frustration is starting to get the better of me. Update: Avatar resolved. I still have some tweaking left to do, but this is what has come from the patience and information supplied by everyone (if the image cooperates):
  5. My favorite skin before I left was Signature. It was unparalleled in quality IMO. So, part of me really wants to stick with the group I'm familiar with.
  6. Firstly, thank you all for being so wonderful and helpful. I've read and looked into every bit of advice given here, plus I've been reading over some of Skell's information and it's well organized, but it still feels like a lot to take in. BOM does sound like the easiest transition from old style, but I had a few shirts with appliers before I left, so it wouldn't be a leap to get into ones for skin. Also, I'm going to ask this here because you've all seen the qualities in-world first-hand: How does the visual quality of BOM compare to appliers? It seems an applier would be better designed for 3D viewing than something made for system layers. (Let's face it, old system layers were great for their time, but are absolutely awful by comparison now.) Sleeper, that sounds exactly how SL's always been. 😅 Fashion has always leaned in favor of feminine style. Regardless, I greatly appreciate the insight into the options. That's going to help loads toward my decision. I think you're probably right and the extra $1000L will be worth the investment, banking on SL to get on board and make more clothes for it.
  7. Thank you, TrophySpouse. I should clarify that I don't currently *have* a signature look, after doing a very lousy job of trying to cheaply update to mesh (I won't be making that mistake again). In general, I'm looking for a caucasian skin tone, with a long goatee, and buzzed (not bald) head. Moira, thank you so much. I'll give that a read and see if I can make heads or tails of it.
  8. I've been gone from SL for a number of years, but I've kept *just* informed enough to understand that avatars have gone full mesh. I've spent the last few hours trying to figure it all out and I'm physically getting a headache, being so very overwhelmed. I don't know if this is the proper place to make such a request, but I essentially need a (very patient) walkthrough of the process, or someone willing to take the time to guide me to the places I'll need to buy from. I don't need more than one "look". I prefer to have a signature appearance and leave it at that, at least until SL advances yet again. I understand Signature offers the easiest option for clothing compatibility, but I also don't want to look like everyone else. Am I hopeless?
