  1. A region which I discovered soon after arriving in SL (seems it was created as a land within a few months of my rezz date) is Fire Beach, an island occupying the whole of the private region Fire. The best place to start is the landing point for The Lava Pit, a fire-themed pub (the owner is clear to define that it is a pub, not a club!) beneath the volcano which forms the centre of the island. http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Fire/150/110/49 The pub is well worth exploring, and look for the stairs to the lower level as well. From the pub landing point, you can then move out to the whole island, which has all kinds of areas worth exploring. The thing is that the whole island is rezz-free, whether or not you choose to join the island's group Fire Beach Hangout secondlife:///app/group/4d445e6b-07b6-5f92-bdb6-fa356b0b88dc/about However an additional advantage of joining the group is that you can set Home Position there. For many years, until I got my own place, I used Fire Beach as a home and an unofficial sandbox, setting my home position at a little isolated cove on the east side of the island at http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Fire/247/124/26 where you will meet a couple of the island's (rather fragile, click with care!) citizens. Many was the time I carefully took there one of my treasured boxes of almost-noob clothing to try on happily, in the days when all boxes of clothing needed to be rezzed. And unlike so many beautiful regions in SL, you will sometimes meet real people there! The group has over 700 members. Look for the dance locations at several points, the shopping district, the wedding venue and so much more! This is a fine build from over 10 years ago which stands the test of time!
  2. I haven't really looked into the use of bots etc and the rules around them. Can you please point me to whatever there is about that? Maybe there is the possibility then of an AR after all... would be good if there were!
  3. This is a problem in a lot of Zindra regions. I bought land in a Zindra region on a Tuesday afternoon SL time, the place was deserted, but within hours there were 30+ avatars back at an AFK place occupying a 2048 parcel, and my land was useless. I put it back on the market, and sold it for the same as I paid for it a few weeks later - I was lucky! I learned never to buy land on reset day again! But the AFK clubs are a problem that way. If you see lots of land for sale and at a cheap price in a region, take an especially close look at why that might be, and often it's because there are times when the region is overstressed by one landowner's operations. This doesn't happen so much in other parts of the Mainland, but it does happen. For example, there is a discount clothing store at http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Magenta/133/122/22 in the old Sansara Colour Sims, an area with many old builds and generally free from too many issues, which for some reason since a few months ago has operated about a dozen bots in a restricted-access skybox way high above the actual store. It does degrade region performance somewhat, not as much as clubs with 30 to 40 avatars there, but it still put me off buying the land currently for sale there. I have no idea what those bots achieve... anyone with any ideas, I'd be interested But as @Prokofy Nevahas said, LL will never do anything about this, so just be as wise as you can about land buying, and if necessary cut your losses, abandon and learn by the sad experience. Fortunately there is LOTS of nice land out there... except, in Zindra, I wouldn't bother looking for 'nice land', like water edge etc, as even in quieter regions, the lag is huge... I'm guessing because of all the scripted sex furniture
  4. How old was it? Not old enough for LL to consider it for preservation as a legacy build, apparently? (Even if it wasn't to be accessible for residence and landholding)
  5. I love that the highest point of Mainland, in Campion as mentioned above, is a standard small 1024 sq m parcel which the owner has kindly left open and accessible! It is so high that the view is just open air, though you can see some of Mar's wonderful park immediately below. But I do love to drop by there occasionally and meditate. I hope the owner doesn't mind, there are no alarming notices or anything. I believe there used to be a castle up there, and I'm kinda glad to see it's gone now... unlike the dreadful pink one to the north of the main ridge up there. Also good to see that old threads, like old avatars, never truly die
  6. Thank you for the link, Rolig... I will read it carefully. I have no issue with verification per se, but the present execution of it by LL seems to be flawed somehow. I guess I will have to try to work it out with a CSA
  7. Actually it's the banker alt account which has been ID verified in the past, and I have never bothered to ID my main (this one) as I don't use it to buy or sell Lindens. So I'm just puzzled why it's now wanting more verification apparently, but not giving me a way to provide it.
  8. I have an account I use as my 'banker' which has long done all my USD to L$ transactions through my PayPal. I now want to do some Process Credit after not doing that for a year or so, and I find that when I go into Process Credit, I get this: "There is a problem with your account Before we can proceed with your Process Credit request, we are required to collect some information from you as detailed here. Please click Provide Additional Information button below to proceed to the submission form. This information will be used pursuant to Tilia's terms of service and privacy policy to process your future credit requests." If I click on the 'here' I get a detailed FAQ explanation of Tilia, which however never addresses whatever 'KYC' might be. If I click on the button to 'Provide Additional Information' I get the above message, "Your KYC application is being reviewed", with no way to actually provide any further information. My question: has anyone had that message result in your Process Credit being made available again, without requiring you to seek help from a CSA? Is there any advice anyone can offer about this please? (I seem to recall that I have submitted various ID items some time back when Tilia first came up, but seems they now want even more!)
  9. @Prokofy NevaThank you for another amazing recap of SL history and some powerful insights into present motivations. It's all a bit discouraging though, and makes me wonder if I should just end it all and head off to RL instead, hehe. I guess I knew it is mostly about money, but you have confirmed it all too convincingly! I do have one specific question: Bellisseria I think I understand as a concept (though does it properly include ALL of the Linden Homes areas between Sansara, Jeogeot and Satori, or is it properly only the really well designed bit between Sansara and Jeogeot, with the large accretion towards Satori then being a sort of cancerous growth? ) ... but what is 'Blake' as a real estate area, as distinct from the actual Blake Sea navigation sims?
  10. As an aside to all the excellent thoughts here, I am more and more loving Sansara. I have a small property in Miru which includes now an LCC launch point, and really love sailing the various waterways. I love how close I am to the San Francisco sims, and only a water passage through to Bellisseria and beyond is lacking for me. If LL can see their way to adopt one or more of the ideas here, I am sure there will be many grateful Mainlanders. While I have no interest at all in living in Bellisseria, I am very thankful that its expansion has joined some of the real continents at last
  11. That would be wonderful, but there are hordes of private sims already in the area that would cover, so I would doubt LL would be so ambitious. But there is a large triangular void north-east of Van Gogh which at least could link the east coast of Sansara with some of the central areas of current Belliesseria. Heterocera would then be covered by any route facilitating travel from central Sansara to Bellisseria and beyond. The east coast of Sansara is really the only obstacle to linking the whole Mainland apart from Gaeta I and the Sharp Continent (and of course Zindra which will be forever beyond the pale!)
  12. Where do you see Bellisseria expanding to, in relation to where it is already? Is any of it potentially to the east of Sansara so they could use it to fix this navigation issue?
  13. Thank you so much @Rolig Loonand @Quistessa ... This is so appreciated to have such a script available, works perfectly!
  14. @Lankarion LockThank you for this script, it is right along the lines of what I need and works just fine, though I am hoping to then use Rolig's mod as I want to use another clickable script (an item giver) in the same object. But scripters like you and Rolig who shar your expertise freely are such a blessing in SL. (I do my little bit in other ways *giggle* ... but scripting will never be one of them ) @Rolig LoonThank you for providing an alternative version. Although your edit says it clarified the dialog nesting, in actual fact for me it still shows up here as one long line. I would love to use your mod, but not sure how to fix that myself (I am afraid I am NO scripter, not even close).
  15. @Eddy OfarrelThank you SO much for picking this up and doing all you have done. Surely your skills can lead to a job in some lucrative enterprise, or maybe they already do *smile* Words fail me in regard to just how much benefit I have already gained in just the last couple of days. Just another huge fan here!
  16. So the last post on this is now weeks ago, and the thing STILL is not fixed. I want to resurrect this thread for further discussion, because as a Premium member with actually several Premium accounts (for land ownership access, not playable avatars) I do feel extremely let down after now 4 months of no map tiles except at maximum zoom in. It's all been said already, above, by much more erudite persons than me, but how long IS this going to go on. Heck, I can go into the most lowly OpenSim grid and get working map tiles of the entire grid. But for me, land acquisition especially has been extremely tricky - I just found a nice parcel in southern Satori, and the only way I actually knew where I was was because I came across the bottom end of Route 8 in Bagheera. Sailing and driving is also a total pain and not really pleasurable as it used to be. Don't get me wrong, I love the Lindens. They work darned hard for us, and respond to tickets as quickly as possible, with good humour and patience. I love SL and although I do peek into OpenSim grids a tiny bit, the quality of the SL experience is generally superior - I am not much of a builder so I need access to the best creators, and they are basically working where they can make some money out of it, and who can blame them. BUT... as someone who has been in SL for many years, though only quite recently finally accessing Premium... this right now is the single worst failure by LL that I can recall. And finally, the worst part for me is not even the failure of the map tiles. It's the failure of communication by LL. As far as I know nothing official has been said about this since the official update on Jan 21, over two months ago. https://status.secondlifegrid.net/incidents/cgpt13b12sry Please, LL, provide members with some sort of explanation... take us into your confidence, let us know a bit about what is happening, what the issues are... many of us are sympathetic and understanding people, we are "on your side" when the chips are down, but we do deserve to know what the actual heck is going on. Please.
  17. Thank you Rowan! It answers the question I couldn't find easily in-world so I did my homework and decided I could help others in future. It ends up being the first result in a Google search for 'Maitreya store credit', so hopefully anyone else who Googles that will find it. I think I did make a few posts here years ago under my old name, but like everything else, it was time for a fresh start!
  18. To use Maitreya store credit: If you don't have enough store credit for the item you want to buy, firstly go to the service desk and pay the silver Store Credit notice the extra amount you need, like this: https://gyazo.com/50337e826b50e94ffccc6fe0cdf0286d Then click that notice again, it will confirm how much store credit you have left. Then to use the store credit for your purchase, right-click the vendor for the item, and choose 'Menu' on the top of the wheel thingy which pops up, like this: https://gyazo.com/07a77579e35d5f455d8f4e4640f63215 When you click menu, you will get the purchase option for store credit, like this: https://gyazo.com/8011ba3500d54b4d37a1eeda5b8a7db8 (This is the same if you wish to gift an item so someone else) Finally, don't be a dummy like me and forget to wear your VIP group tag before you buy *anything* in store, so that you do earn your store credit! Thank you, CSR Gryphon Ronas, for all your help with this... hopefully this post will save you answering this question in the future! Happy happy Maitreya-ing, ladies and (in my case!) wannabe ladies *giggle* EDIT: OMG! The forum tagged me as a newbie! I'm 12 years old. But there's a reason for that *giggles* Go here to find out what it is: https://gyazo.com/69ae2442d3b658827df42320f07140c1 (My account was deleted for years, had NO remaining friends, and it was time for a fresh start *giggle*) Oh, you have to be a Premium member though!
