I updated my 3d card now my av is so shiny.
June Starlight replied to Coraline0802's topic in Your Avatar
Can you post a picture of what this shine looks like, so we would be able to help you better? My first guess would be materials of the mesh body and/or head you are using. In their HUDs look up materials setting and set it low, see if that helps. In my HUD settings called "gloss" and "environment" but it might differ. -
Thank you, that broken bridge was my nightmare for a while.

Communal sandbox? A place for helicopter or hot air baloon landing?

Went to S&H two times so far, one before the opening with Birthday group early access, another one after. Regions by themselves seem to run MUCH smoother, avatars though still crash my viewer (mid-range gaming pc and BD). Turned graphic settings down, view distance to 40 - still got crashes. So reserved to going around with avatar rendering disabled and it "magically" solved the problem. Too bad, I wanted to ogle everyone's outfits. Stores with gifts hidden or gift cards that don't cover a single purchase - why? Just earning some bad reputation for themselves. Themed grouping of stores I really like, especially since it is hard to cover whole event in one day. I can pick a vaguely themed area, look around, grab demos, shop a little, and next time start with exploring another themed corner the other time. Themed builds are cute. Closed off builds that make shopping a camera handling gymnastics still annoy me.

You don't need a group to rez in Backdrop City. In destination guide a lot of places listed as photogenic are good for photography. Many of them let you rez without a group or will have a land group with no fee.

I am having fun playing with this head so far. Very strong features, which is always a positive for me. Eyelash length slider is very neat, and I am once again reminded how much I like AK animations.

This was on my flickr feed. Full list of items here, I believe at least some haven't yet been mentioned in this thread - https://bitsandpiecesofsl.com/2022/06/15/lush-colors/

Onsu has apartment skyboxes with multiple rooms, probably some other stores as well. And yes, you should be able to put a house on a platform high up in the skies, if you so desire.

I love this shot. Great pose, nice us of depth of field, and a really beautiful avi! Yay you! Thank you! I admire your pictures both here and on Flickr, especially the way you play with lighting. It's very flattering to receive a compliment from you. 😁 Depth of field is tricky, mostly in how it can make a picture just a blurred mess. But it's so satisfying when I manage to make it work.

June Starlight replied to Chic Aeon's topic in General Second Life Tech Discussion
Your youtube videos were vital for me figuring CTS Wardrobe out. And now it's an inventory sorting tool I can't live without. So thank you! -

What is the least sucky browser for SL?
June Starlight replied to Misty Rookstown's topic in General Discussion Forum
My personal favorites are Catznip and Black Dragon. Lately been using the latter mostly, since I am having a fling with SL photography and Black Dragon has nice shiny toys to go with this hobby. But if you have troubles finding where things are in Firestorm, Black Dragon will give you a headache, its UI is very different from the standard viewer. And Catznip is just great. I rest my case. -
Josh Strife Hayes and Second Life

I like his videos a lot. Charismatic guy, a lot of wit, gives credit where it is due, his criticism is mostly constructive and based on very real problems he comes across when playing games. Some MMOs I love dearly has been on this series, I didn't leave with a broken heart after watching them - he pointed same problems I already knew existed and my nostalgia was very much tickled. He actually mentiones SL quite a bit when he needs an example of a sandbox-type expirience. Granted, he doesn't seem to like sandboxes, but he has never been disrespectful towards SL. That I know of, at least. -
Pride Month -- Got An Email From SL
June Starlight replied to Luna Bliss's topic in General Discussion Forum
Putting shops first in the list of things to do is a little cringe of LL, but hey, it is SL, people love shopping. Pride month is my favorite time of the year in SL, less for shopping though and more for parties, atmosphere and people mingling. Somehow I feel like everyone is more approachable during festivities. Or maybe it is me relaxing and being more eager to reach out. LGBTQ+ groups and communities are easier to find during Pride as well - many of them have booths or boards around event regions. -
What don't you know about in Second Life?
June Starlight replied to Bree Giffen's topic in General Discussion Forum
Making videos. I only know very basic LSL and always meant to look deeper into it - keep avoiding it still. Man's fashion. Scripted weapons and combat systems. How do people find active roleplay regions (to be fair, that might have to do something with me being in EU timezone). Probably there's much more, but I know nothing to the point of not knowing those things exist in SL. This thread has been great for ideas of stuff to try! -

What don't you know about in Second Life?
June Starlight replied to Bree Giffen's topic in General Discussion Forum
Deformers are also used for tiny avatars - dinkies, pixies, all sorts of bite sized cuteness that wanders the Grid. In this case deformers wrap standard avatar skeleton to make it smaller than sliders would allow. Animal avatars that run on all four use them too, and I think giant avatars as well. General idea is - if sliders can't do it, deformers probably can! -
I wear Ives Beauty skin for my face, it is made to go with Velour's Ipanema body tones. It is BOM and made for EvoX heads. Checking the market from time to time, haven't found anything I would like more since winter.

Help a girl out ... what shoes with this dress?
June Starlight replied to Katherine Heartsong's topic in Fashion
Gladiator sandals maybe? The pair that came to my mind is from Addams.
