  1. If I upgrade to premium and purchase a name change, will my new name be reflected here if I do not login? I read from some posters here that their names were not updated until they logged out and signed back into the forum. I am planning to go premium to get a last name but do not want people outside SL viewer knowing my new name for reasons I cannot disclose.

  2. Not sure if bordering on caricature, but I intentionally made my avatar obese because I am roleplaying “that fat Korean girl.” Think of my avatar like Gwyneth Paltrow in Shallow Hal but Korean-American. Now I was not joking when I told the last guy I dated that I could swallow him whole and still have room for fries. Burp!

On a less self-deprecating note, my SL became more interesting and enjoyable when I purposefully deviated from what was considered conventionally beautiful in the pixel universe. Besides, I am a hot supermodel in real life so I must hide who I am in this fat suit!

I quickly learned there are lots of predatory men who will try to push past those boundaries and into your real life where they do not belong if you let them. I have had bad experiences with women too.

I learned this the hard way. This is why I have a “don’t ask, don’t tell” policy and the only thing that I divulge, and is consistent between both lives, is my timezone. It is the only thing outside SL that I believe affects my experiences in-world. Nobody has the right to know anything else. I am who I present to be, and you ARE who you present to be: representatives of characters whose life stories are authentic and legitimate in SecondLife but never in Real Life, if that makes sense. So keep it that way, please. If someone hounds me with questions about the person behind my avi, I reserve the right to lie. Not really sure what kind of trophy or validation the OP was seeking here.

Yes, for me too, hearing someone's voice really changes your perception of them.

Same with RL pics. Do you know how vile and disturbing it is while in the throes of kinky unrestrained passion with an avatar who looks like Keanu Reeves, then its puppeteer goes on voice and shares a picture of themselves to reveal that they are not Keanu Reeves but Ralph Fiennes... as Voldemort! And their moaning sounds like someone hit Mickey Mouse in the balls! Que horror! Now don’t ask me for mine, I can’t bear being discovered and unpartnered with just because I am an overweight middle-aged truck driver from Placer County. C’mon, it was our avatars who were inseparable and madly in love! I can’t raise this Zooby alone!!!

I would say yes, they do. (At least for me)

My avatar is asian, and I usually like to talk to asian avatars, that's my preference.

Everyone has their preference, and for some people it is based on the avatar looks.

oh, same same my AV is inspired by kpop idols and I seem to attract and be drawn to other avis who have a similar look

I am fairly new (2 months) but my small circle is made up of mostly kpop fans and other like-minded koreaboos lol

not gonna lie, but I tend to avoid avis who are non-mesh or non-human no matter how nice and friendly they seem
