  1. I'm one of those who prefer my stilt home to be touching both sand and water. While both Stilt on Water and Stilt on Land have parcels that let you have it all, you likely will have to search a bit to get one. I limit my searching to the Stilt on Land theme, as the Stilt on Water homes that touch sand are oriented so the front door of the home is on the water side. Some simply get a Stilt on Water and add their own sand, but I have seen very few examples where this actually looks nice, and even fewer that make any effort to accomplish it in a realistic manner (the sand is always magically floating in the water instead of rising up from the sea floor). Yes, I'm extremely picky.
  2. There's no need for that. Only the houseboats have new models so far, unless you want to count the open floorplan versions of the Traditionals.
  3. I just clip and paste directly into the thread. No file saving, Gyazo, or internet hosting needed. case in point: Granted, that doesn't help with expired Gyazo links.
  4. I tried Mesh Studio for a bit, but found that that it was not as good at reducing LI. In my experience, it was no different than manually exporting a collada file and reuploading as mesh, which generally reduced LI by half from what the prims were using. I was probably not using it correctly, but the time to learn all of this more extensively just isn't there for me.
  5. I have not made the time to properly learn Blender, and likely never will. I build my add-ons from prims, and then use Mesh Generator to convert them to mesh. It isn't perfect or cheap, and because I am a relative mesh novice, I run into a lot of problems when complex items need to have physical properties (walkable surfaces, impassable walls, passable doorways, etc.). Still, it does a really decent job reducing LI and keeping the textures properly scaled.
  6. Also, note that some themes are in short supply, and availability for them fluctuates. Thus, don't assume that a given theme will be available to your premium account avatar just because it was available when you checked with your alt. As always, if the theme you want is not available, keep checking. Any theme can be had if you are patient and persistent. Themes that tend to be infrequently available: Traditional Houseboat Victorian Stilt Home on Land Stilt Home on Water Stilt Home on Pier
  7. I can't imagine that they will add any additional fantasy theme regions in the foreseeable future, so unless it is practical to add new models to the existing parcels, I don't think it is likely that we will see what many of you want. That said, predicting what they will do is a fool's game. They were able to add new houseboat models, so I suppose there is some hope. When deciding on a new version of Elderglen, I think they focused so much on the landscaping, that they overlooked the fact that they were replacing multiple home themes, each of which had unique appeal. No other Linden Home theme (new or old) has the variety that you see in Elderglen. I suspect that it was rare that someone who wanted to live in a castle or stone manor would also want to live in an earthen dwelling or giant log. Choosing between them was no different than deciding between a Tahoe and a Meadowbrook. They are completely different things. The new Fantasy Homes only offer different floorplans of a home that only pays a small homage to any of the Elderglen designs. For some, that is enough, but obviously if you liked the hobbit dwellings, there's currently nothing close in Bellisseria.
  8. This is only true when the older themes are sold out. I'm not suggesting that placement on the theme selector is a the sole reason why some themes are less popular, but I do think it is at least a minor contributing factor. Many owners don't care what theme they have, and they will select whatever is first available and immediately rezz a skybox.
  9. She's talking about this. There is only one way in and out of the Fantasy Homes landmass if you travel by vehicle. The void regions you mention will likely stay that way. It was always the intent to have the Fantasy Homes continent feel more remote and isolated from the rest of Bellisseria. Some consider this to be a feature, others a flaw.
  10. Don't let the often referenced name "Fantassaria" fool you, the Fantasy Homes are part of Bellisseria. They simply occupy a an area that is more isolated. If you have not looked for a Linden Home in the past year or never scroll down to see the entire list, I suppose you might have missed them. Other than placement on the theme selection widget, they have had every bit as much prioritization as any other theme. I have to wonder if being permanently stuck at the bottom of the list is contributing to the less popular themes not being selected more often. Perhaps people simply don't notice the easily missed "View all houses" button. That said, all of my least favorite themes are the ones at the bottom of the list, so it's probably not that. I do agree that it appears that the theme's appeal was likely overestimated. There will likely be some increase in demand if the residents of the Elderglen regions are ever forced to relocate to Bellisseria, but how many of them will opt for a different theme or a mainland parcel? As for me personally, the Fantasy Home theme is a genre that holds no appeal to me at all. That's not a commentary on the work done to create it nor on those whose SL is spent in that area of interest. As always, I'm glad that there is something for everyone in SL, even if much of it doesn't interest me.
  11. I don't see how any of you can have the perfect Houseboat, Stilt Home, or Log Home locations when I have all of those. I have keepers in the three themes noted above. I have a fourth Premium Account for hopping, trying new themes (or retrying old ones), and grabbing content packs. I also use it for major remodeling add-on builds when I don't want to tear down my keepers until I have everything finalized. I have had as many as five Premium Accounts, but don't see myself going that high again. Four is already more than I need, but it's hard to let them go once I have put so much labor and love into a build. Everyone has a different situation. I don't consider mine addiction. It's more of a difficulty in letting things go. As long as I can afford it and I get enjoyment from it, I see no reason to change anything.
  12. That explains the big green square on the map. I was wondering if someone had done that, but wasn't curious enough to go looking for it. The world map is great for identifying platforms that are below the covenant limit...and in this case ones that extend beyond the parcel boundaries.
  13. This assumes that they could do so without significantly increasing the LI. The Traditional Homes areas of Bellisseria were constructed in situ. The balance between the LI used for the homes and the surrounding landscaping was not preplanned to the extent that the other themes were. That's not to say that it couldn't be done, but it's not as easy as it sounds if the initial models prioritized low LI.
  14. Just let its next door neighbor go. http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/San Jocoso/184/166/23
  15. I assumed this was an intentional fix. As a general rule, exterior doors should open inward, otherwise, the hinges are exposed, making breaking into homes a fairly easy task. Of course, RL consequences don't always apply to SL, and Linden Home doors don't even feature hinges, but from an architectural point of view, inward is correct. I like the sliding doors idea, especially if they are pocket doors so the opening can be as large as possible...all the benefits of open doors without the added clutter. I make all of my add-ons with pocket doors for this reason.
  16. Nothing like consensus to bring us all together. I personally find the barn style to be a little too similar to Log Homes. If they were to add some barns as new model options for the Log Home theme, then sure, go for it. As a new theme, I would likely pass, but would be happy for those who really want one.
  17. To add to the excellent information already provided, there are other security systems available on the market place, but using the Linden one ensures that it is configured correctly per Linden Homes covenant. Additional details including an explanation of why the settings are what they are can be found here:
  18. I do not think we do, or at least I don't. Log Homes already support custom colors, so the need to update them isn't as pressing as it was for the Traditionals and House Boats. I do know that a lot of people would love to see some new Log Home models, so I guess time will tell.
  19. You are likely aware, but this reads as though you aren't, so it's worth mentioning that the new houseboat models are in all houseboat controllers, new and old alike.
  20. The roof snow for the various homes has the same issue. I also ended up just manually placing it. I really wish they would consolidate all of the content creation packs into one. I'd much rather have a pack that includes things I don't need or want than to have to hop around to different themes to make sure I have the latest and greatest of everything. And from the mole perspective, it has to be a chore to update a bunch of different packs anytime something needs updating.
