  1. Another word for monkey is simian, which can also refer to an ape. To ape is to mimic or imitate something...a simulation, if you will. Clearly they are creating some sort of simulation.
  2. Yes, I have not enjoyed this part either. I assume the rezzers are supposed to make decorating easier for those who may struggle placing things...if they can figure out how to properly use them.
  3. I was about to post the same thing. What an odd decision by the creator. Very disappointing, as I tend to love KAZZA. At least I didn't pay full price.
  4. That may be caused by the shell, not necessarily the wallpaper. Not all shells are equally created. Some creators take the time to make their shells seamless, others don't (and it does take a fair amount of time to do correctly). If the shell was originally made to use with a specific texture, shiplap for example, It may have appeared to be seamless for the creator's original purposes, or they may not have bothered to make it seamless from one surface to the another (corners). Many add-ons are made by residents who just want to share their creations, but aren't necessarily great builders. I include myself in that statement, which is one reason I don't sell anything. I'm not saying that is the case here, and I certainly am not criticizing anyone who does share their creations, but I wanted to inform those who may not have purchased many add-ons and aren't aware. Also, changing the texture scale can result in the same issue. Here's an example. Here you can see a texture that seamlessly wraps around corners of this Log Home add-on: You may decide to slightly change the horizontal scale to make the texture more pleasing to your eye: Suddenly your texture is no longer seamless: You can usually safely increase the scale in whole numbers (2.0 x 2.0, 3.0 x 3.0, etc.) but not fractions. There are exceptions, but it depends on the texture. Some vertical scales can be safely fractionally changed, depending on how the shell was constructed, but not if the texture is only seamless horizontally (seamless wall textures that have shadows for trim, for example). Somewhat related, if you ever resize a mesh item, and don't configure the texture stretching option correctly, you may end up with a table that looks like it was painted by Picasso. This is easily fixed by changing the texture scale to 1.0 x 1.0.
  5. I don't currently have a Victorian, but all of my homes usually have wall additions of some sort.
  6. Sometimes removing limitations (walls in this case) gives you too many options. Don't think of it as "open floorplan." Think of it as "moveable walls." Rez a wall or three and move them around. Consider half or upper and lower walls, so you have an anchor for kitchen cabinetry without completely losing the open floorplan feel.
  7. I'm not one who would find the addition of sandboxes to Bellisseria to be a positive experience, and I definitely would not want any of them to be visible from my Linden Home, but having them reachable by vehicle, yet somewhat isolated (like the Fantasy and Sakura themes) would certainly be acceptable to me.
  8. I know that you mean that you can't sail to the Chalets the way that we all want, but in case anyone is confused, technically, it is possible:
  9. That was more hyperbole than sarcasm, but to answer your question, no, I definitely don't know what sarcasm is.
  10. Wow. I knew that SLs appeal covers the Baby Boomers, but you have been waiting for Premium Plus homes for over 656 million years? Since that predates SL by a fair amount, that must mean you can see the future...so can't you tell us when the new homes will be released? And what was it like watching life evolve? Did you get to hang out with any cool dinosaurs? One thing we have learned is that patience clearly does not come with age.
  11. I did state that it wasn't easy. Yes, there are definitely sacrifices that must be made, and it absolutely is not possible to treat your Linden Home as a Nutmeg showroom. Changing one item to a lower LI alternative so you can use another item that fits the space and design so well is part of the challenge, but don't you need a reason to shop more? I can totally sympathize with re-reusing items in multiple builds that are of reasonable quality but have low LI, though I do try to limit that. I'm glad you got to experience a more generous LI allowance, even if briefly. I think everyone should splurge and do that once, just to see what you can do when LI isn't a consideration.
  12. Also, this is some general advice on being thoughtful, not directed at you specifically. If you are going to use your Linden Home solely as a skybox parcel with no intent to ever use the home or ground level, please consider moving to a less occupied theme, such as Chalet or Fantasy. This maximizes the inventory of the more popular themes for those who really want them. If you intend to use your home at all, or think you might at some point in the future and really like the theme and location, then by all means, hold onto it.
  13. <== The pipe dream thread is over there (but I really really really really share your hope).
  14. If the LI limit is not adequate for how you like to decorate, then a Linden Home may not be your best choice. You are going to get a lot of push back on your claim that decorating with 351 prims is impossible. This linked thread is full of examples to the contrary: I'm not going to claim that it is easy. It is definitely challenging, but some of us actually like that. You are welcome to visit any of my homes, none of which feels bare or empty, and all of which are decorated with quality items, personal tastes notwithstanding. http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Hardtack/225/114/22 http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Brichester/16/232/54 http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Visser/233/213/26
  15. That could just be a quirk of the queue and inventory availability. I have not been hopping lately, so do not know whether there is an abundance of houseboats, but if they release multiple regions at once, your scenario could certainly happen, and be considered normal.
  16. This has been answered by Lindens and moles, and is supposed to be "no." Any home available to Premium Plus members should also be available via the Linden Home queue for Premium members. What type of home did you request?
  17. That is a great location, and it looks like someone did grab it, though likely through luck of the draw or used the Premium Plus concierge service. Trying for a specific Log Home parcel via conventional methods right now is going to require patience, as there is quite a bit of available inventory, including some really spectacular locations. It's a great time to house hop if you like the Log Homes and want a preferred plot.
  18. The economic harm would primarily be to those in SL who offer rentals. One of the primary benefits of renting parcels on mainland or private estates is that the LI allowances are often very generous. If the LI allowances in Linden Homes reach a point where they are directly competing with rentals, then it potentially impacts the SL economy and eventually, the LL revenue stream. There were already a lot of complaints from some land owners when Bellisseria opened because so many people decided that a Linden Home was finally nice enough that keeping a rental on the side was no longer necessary for one's Second Lifestyle. For LL to make money, and thus for SL to continue existing, all forms of land ownership need to remain economically viable. As others have stated many times, the Linden Homes available to Premium account holders were initially intended to be starter homes. The overwhelming success of Bellisseria has called that statement into question, but the sentiment remains that they are not supposed to be the pinnacle of SL home/land ownership, even if they fill that need for some.
  19. You can call it whatever you want, but it doesn't change the reality of the situation. It took several years for them to increase LI on regions across the board. They didn't just decide one day to do it. It took a lot of improvements in server and viewer code, hardware upgrades, technological advancements, such as mesh, and countless hours of testing to make sue the grid could handle it. Adding LI to a region doesn't come without consequences or costs that some residents don't consider or refuse to accept. Do you actually want to be able to walk around your home, drive your vehicle from region to region, have items and textures rez in your viewer in seconds rather than minutes? Some of these things are already a challenge in certain areas due to concentrations of residents who use too many poorly built or heavily scripted items. Doubling everyone's allowance would only add to the problem. That would be a big "no thank you" from me. Eventually, additional advances on the technological side or an unexpected drop in server costs may allow them to again increase the limits, but it won't be anytime soon. There is no harm in wanting a private estate experience for the cost of a premium account, but there are reasons why different tiers of land ownership exist. Just as in RL, "more" usually isn't free.
  20. Even if you were to take out the technical and administrative challenges of adding LI based on membership level, it's still a daunting challenge. In Belliseria, there's a delicate balance in the way LI is distributed to maintain an acceptable level of performance. To add LI for everyone without creating a huge impact on performance, they'd need to upgrade all the servers, which costs a lot more money than you probably think...a lot more than PP would generate. If you want to add LI without impacting performance, then say goodbye to all the beautiful landscaping and shared spaces that make Bellisseria so appealing.
  21. This thread is about pipe dreams, so there's no harm in wishing for things that are not likely to happen. Increasing the land impact allowance for existing Bellisseria parcels, but only when owned by a PP member, may make the most sense from an end user perspective, but from a technical and financial perspective, it is completely impractical and would cost way more money than they could hope to make from PP.
  22. This thread is long overdo. It's a shame that those with negative things to say tend to be the most vocal, but this is the case with almost every forum I have ever read. I think the anonymity that the internet provides results in people expressing themselves in ways that they wouldn't if they were having a face-to-face conversation. That does not mean that we should not provide critical feedback, but we can probably all do a better job of doing it in a manner that isn't insulting, entitled, or ungrateful. I'll also say that it's not just the Lindens and moles impacted by the negativity. It affects most of us. My likes and loves have essentially been expressed by others, but there is no harm in piling on, especially if it helps offset some of the negative comments that are so prevalent. I love to decorate, and the Bellisseria homes provide the perfect canvas. While most will disagree with this one, I'll even go far as to say that I love the LI limit. Overcoming the challenge that it presents is very rewarding. I love the endless sprawling connected neighborhoods with different themes, each with their own unique feel. I love the truly useable public spaces and the inspiration to my inner explorer that they provide. The hidden surprises in the water, on the water, and all over the landscape are simply wonderful. I love the seemingly endless network of vehicle pathways. I spend countless hours travelling the Bellisserian waters, roads, paths, rails, airspace, and natural terrain.
