  1. Pet Peeve But first a disclaimer: If anyone hasn't already figured it out, this is the alt account of Seicher Rae. I haven't been trying to hide it. Unfortunately this account has too few "points" to be able to modify the profile at all, like adding a sig line. Peeve: What's with all the alts in the Forum in the last month? (serious, not being ironic) Umpteen thousand new accounts posting, old accounts that have never posted or have posted years ago, are suddenly flooding the place. I refuse to go on a public alt hunt (except well, I did, once, but still...) but you can't help but wonder. Some of the new accounts are simply new accounts. Some oldbies lurk and rarely post. But c'mon... It's a freakin' flood! It is kinda creepy.
  2. My opinion: No one needs to know who or why someone blocks another and frankly, 99% just don't care to know, whether they are on the list or not. Next thing you know some a55hole is posting a screenshot of his block list.
  3. /me hangs head sheepishly Corollary: "You can't do that" often brings about the "watch me" response. That's not always bad. For example, when I was studying clinical massage, the current "traditional wisdom" said, "You can't safely practice massage on anyone with cancer, any cancer." I thought that sounded fishy. It was pure BS. There are many things you have to learn (many) in order to do it safely and well, but it has a huge benefit when done by a trained practitioner. It ended up guiding my professional career (that one), where that was my primary focus. It then branched to Parkinson's. So sometimes, it isn't a bad thing. Other times it just gets you more of
  4. Could possibly well be. Or just one really crazy person. :::shrugs::: But I ain't in it. I haven't been trying to hide this is an alt, cuz that's a whole different thing. "I don't care to belong to any club that will have me as a member."
  5. It's an idea. It's a dream. It is elusive, like trying to catch smoke with your fingers. It is whatever you want it to be, and often who you don't want it to be. I could tell you, but I'd have to kill you... So for your own protection...
  6. Last time you asked I was a teeny tiny fairy that would look like road kill if hugged. This time I'm a cat, so that's more doable:
  7. Seicher Rae is a goddess of humility. She is the epitome of elegance and grace. Her intellect soars, her humor divine. She is quite possibly the most evolved person to have ever walked the Earth, and yet she's still so gosh darned adorable. I worship her, but then I have to or she won't put food in my bowl. Golly, if we asked "who is .... " about every Obvious Alt posting these days, that would be a long thread all on its own, no? LFB
  8. Anyone posting seriously in this thread should have known it would come to snarking and hurt feelings. The only way to deal with it is humor, and as we have seen that was pretty much doomed to fail as well for various reasons. The topic screamed "here's a place to kerfuffle." There's a reason why a lot of places have a "no politics, no religion" policies. I'm of the mind that both should be allowed, but if people know they are going to be triggered by either then why join the thread? If "humor" isn't your thing, if "humor and religion" together are worse then why subject yourself to frustration and hurt? But, I know not everyone thinks that way. If the last thing you want to do is argue politics then I wouldn't suggest jumping into a thread that is titled "let's argue politics today!" That's one reason I* started the COVID thread, so people who did want to talk about it had a place to, and so maybe, just maybe, it would stay out the 10,000 threads it was showing up in at the time, (ETA) and some people including me, just didn't want to talk about it 24/7. It worked, sort of. Sadly the feelings thread got blown up because, in part, to misplaced COVID rantings. As to the OP, I didn't find the premise funny. I agreed with the post Scylla made a few pages back. As to some of the jokes in this thread, absolutely funny. But then I'm not squeamish about such things, which is why I'm here. I don't like spiders. I wouldn't post "stop talking about spiders" in a thread titled "Spiders! The best things ever! Discuss!" I'd just scroll past the OP, like I do 80% of the threads here. Just sayin' *Not like I've been trying to hide it, at all, but in case y'all haven't figured it out, this is the alt of Seicher Rae.
  9. I love scritches behind the ears and right under my neck, but don't touch the spot right by my tail and it depends on the day whether you can come near my tummy or not. Do you feel lucky? However, I know you like your toes kissed. Kittens are very good at that. I hope you're not ticklish.
  10. LFB Sorry, you kind of have to have been there...
  11. Right. That's what I was getting at about the old one reminding me of the Myst journey cloth and the jewelry they make for massage therapists, but I couldn't remember Hamsa and couldn't be arsed to look it up. It's really a rather fascinating symbol and the Wiki provided is a good intro.
  12. Oh THANKS [sarcasm font] (and if that isn't enough of a hint for some people...)(not aimed at thedamedspore). Really. I should have been in bed, asleep, three hours ago. Insomnia. Now you have to put THAT image in my head. :::goes to flip on ALL the lights:::
  13. Gawd, even with insomnia I'm adorable. Lookit that face!
  14. kumbaya etc I fell on my sword (sort of, kinda sideways, a little to the left). Apologized a bit, even. Yeesh.
  15. This is all I see. Is this a new kind of non-gendered, PC kind of hug?
  16. There is a famous line from Shakespeare's Macbeth that Scylla was quoting. She was making a pun. A joke. Not at you. And dude, you really need to go back and read what you wrote from the very first post. You weren't writing like a very nice person, and you started saying things first, like "take a class" or "with a little more education"... You may not have intended to come across as belligerent but you did. A language difference? Perhaps. For my part, I apologize for any of the personal remarks I made to you. As for the discussion about logos, what makes good ones, my opinions on your design suggestions, to quote our hostess: I said what I said. Also, Sylvia asked us to stop bickering. We have. You should too. Really.
  17. Not quite asleep yet and read this. Interesting how you read Lindal's original question, and absolutely the way you read it and your answer I'd be willing to bet you are right. I read it that if one already had permission to use it, would they have to use the new one, which I think would depend. But right, if you couldn't use the old one, and you can't use the new one, you still can't.
  18. I'm so sorry to read this. And there's no need to read the previous posts to make this kind of statement. I'm not familiar with the abbreviation RI, but I can understand that this is an important person to you. I wish there were something I could say that would make a difference, but of course there isn't. But my heart breaks reading of these personal stories. So please know you've been heard.
  19. Not a trademark expert, but... I wouldn't think so? If one has permission to use the old logo and depending upon how it is being used, I wouldn't think there'd be a legal issue. No doubt they would prefer you go with the new one though.
  20. I think I'm more like Community's Pillow (pillow of the community...), Season 3 Ep 14 which was rather hilarious. Anyway... the more I look at it, though subtle, I think I like the redesigned logo slightly more than the old, primarily for the slightly more open design...subtle but it makes a difference. I do kind of agree that the blue is rather harsh, and it does depend upon the background it is against. I do agree there's been too much mindless bickering in the Forum as a whole, and as such I think folks are being a little too sensitive to some comments of disagreement, seeing it as harsh. But I get it. It's late where I am, so as the fog comes on little cat feet, so the little cat feet go off to bed like a whisp of fog in the night.
