  1. I actually like the idea of using notecards as virtual letters a lot. Even though you are more likely to communicate with those closest to you frequently, as the previous reply said, and therefore, through IMs, I think sending a notecard every now and then could be something special. For example, if you happen to be online when that close friend/partner/etc. isn't, you could send them a notecard with a message that you may not say as casually as you would in an IM. An example of this could be: Hi their name here, I know we've been friends for awhile but I really appreciate _____ and how supportive you are... Letters often serve a more formal purpose, but I think they can also be used to share deeper sentiments with someone. Before this post, it had never crossed my mind to send someone a notecard letter, but this post has certainly planted the idea in my mind.
  2. I don't think it's a waste of money as long as you are still able to find items that you like for it. Creators do tend to keep up with the latest developments. For example, Lelutka's upgrade/change to custom UV maps for their heads and ears to increase their realism and quality. This will introduce a new type of skin and ear customization to the market as creators make products for this new line. The market seems to be moving in this direction as well (which is also suggested by the Catwa HDPro, as you mentioned). The thing about using an older head is that (from my assumption) the UV maps are not as updated and therefore, cannot achieve the HD look. So if you're looking to increase the quality of your avatar, an upgrade would be the way to go. That being said, the applier system for makeup and skins still remains, as well as BOM. I'm pretty sure the Catwa Catya head can still use appliers and BOM, so you don't have to worry about that. I think the issue is not necessarily about your head becoming obsolete, but rather the kind of look. There are still users who prefer the Classic avatar and have no issue, but since mesh is what is mainstream, that look is considered outdated. It all comes down to what kind of changes, if any, you want to make to your avatar.
  3. I love this! I think compliments shouldn't be disregarded or discarded entirely. Kindness can go a long way and really brighten someone's day. They can be coming from a genuine place as you describe. I've often had my day improved when someone complimented me. I felt similar to how you did. The confidence I had in my avatar was definitely boosted. I think it's also a nice way to connect with other Residents. Of course, there are those instances where people are being creepy or have ill motives, so one can act accordingly.
  4. My avatar is definitely a reflection of who I am. Our appearances differ significantly, though prior to this most recent change, her features resembled the ones I have in real life. Her look is where I find the most joy in trying out different things and experimenting. Other than that, my moral stances, beliefs, and behaviors are the same. I try to customize her in a way that most suits/reflects who I am, which in turn, also helps me discover who I am and what I like.
