  1. This is both horrifying and amazing at the same time.
  2. Coffee is very high in antioxidants! If I had to give up coffee well........NO. lol
  3. That is true the 660 outperforms the 1030, but take a closer look at the numbers. The 1030 is a much newer highly more efficient part and its competing at only 30w with no external power-which menas it could literally be dropped into any off the shelf system with no fuss, providing it fits in there. Not the greatest , but that's pretty amazing for what it is. As someone who has used a 1030 in the recent past, it is not a bells and whistles gpu but it can do SL. I ran SL on mid settings with no ALM obviously and avatars turned way down, not the fastest experiences but it's not the worst either IMO. Adding: I had the GDDR5 version, not the crappy DDR4 one- it was around 96 bucks purchased new.
  4. A lot of mesh is made outside of SL by people who don't use SL. You can easily hire someone to do this , there are many websites. It is not cheap however.
  5. Hmm I'm not sure exactly what's happening for you but I have made several skies this way with no issue.
  6. You are editing the personal lighting floater, not the actual sky. You need to open the EEP editor , just right click a sky and select open. On the bottom of the floater you can select save as instead of save to save a whole new sky after your changes.
  7. Well if you're set on a laptop, I would go for the most top end your pocket can afford. Reason being, it's a laptop and only the memory and probably HD/SSD are all that is upgradeable. And a 1660ti is not a bad gpu at all, it's just the lower end of all the others you listed, but more than capable for SL. The cpus you listed are also more than capable, but again, it's a laptop. Get the fastest you can afford. Just edited to say that 16gb of ram will suffice, unless you seriously need more. You could go with 8gb but that's cutting it close in Windows 10 using SL, 16 is the sweet spot.
  8. I've been rediscovering Star Trek Voyager on Netflix (arguably the best series of the Star Trek franchise IMO) and I love the theme song to this show...lol
  9. Not a terrible movie but it could have been more fleshed out, slow start but watchable .
  10. That explains it. Just try unticking the dynamic texture setting and then the slider above it should allow you to set 2048 I would think.
  11. Do you have AMD graphics by any chance? Someone stated in the support group that the feature is not supported by AMD cards in Windows.
  12. The water issue is nowhere near as severe as it was in the test versions, they fixed somthing, althought there is still a slight dip in fps with water for some reason.
  13. The EEP version has dynamic texture memory enabled by default and its default setting is 512, you can move it up 2048 or higher depending on your gpu. I have 4gb so I leave it at 2048 and it runs great. You can untick dynamic texture memory and it will function like the old way.
  14. I have noticed this too but in the forum index of active topics, it will show threads from as far back as 6 months ago as current when they are not.
  15. The 1060 is still a very popular gpu, even for mining hence the used market prices.
  16. Peeve: Pop OS (yet another Ubuntu derived Linux distro) deciding to do one of its infamous random freezes while I'm in the middle of something. This only started recently and from all the searching I've done, there is no definitive reason why it's happening. TL;DR : Linux user nerd rant.
