Do you need to vent about things COVID-19?

Coffee is very high in antioxidants! If I had to give up coffee well........NO. lol -
That is true the 660 outperforms the 1030, but take a closer look at the numbers. The 1030 is a much newer highly more efficient part and its competing at only 30w with no external power-which menas it could literally be dropped into any off the shelf system with no fuss, providing it fits in there. Not the greatest , but that's pretty amazing for what it is. As someone who has used a 1030 in the recent past, it is not a bells and whistles gpu but it can do SL. I ran SL on mid settings with no ALM obviously and avatars turned way down, not the fastest experiences but it's not the worst either IMO. Adding: I had the GDDR5 version, not the crappy DDR4 one- it was around 96 bucks purchased new.

A lot of mesh is made outside of SL by people who don't use SL. You can easily hire someone to do this , there are many websites. It is not cheap however.

I could use some Laptop buying advice please?
Gage Wirefly replied to BelindaN's topic in General Discussion Forum
Well if you're set on a laptop, I would go for the most top end your pocket can afford. Reason being, it's a laptop and only the memory and probably HD/SSD are all that is upgradeable. And a 1660ti is not a bad gpu at all, it's just the lower end of all the others you listed, but more than capable for SL. The cpus you listed are also more than capable, but again, it's a laptop. Get the fastest you can afford. Just edited to say that 16gb of ram will suffice, unless you seriously need more. You could go with 8gb but that's cutting it close in Windows 10 using SL, 16 is the sweet spot. -
I've been rediscovering Star Trek Voyager on Netflix (arguably the best series of the Star Trek franchise IMO) and I love the theme song to this show...lol

Not a terrible movie but it could have been more fleshed out, slow start but watchable . -

I have noticed this too but in the forum index of active topics, it will show threads from as far back as 6 months ago as current when they are not.

Luca's talk on how to make Second Life more immersive
Gage Wirefly replied to animats's topic in Second Life Viewer
The 1060 is still a very popular gpu, even for mining hence the used market prices. -

What are you actually peeved about today ?
Gage Wirefly replied to Ted McGregor's topic in General Discussion Forum
Peeve: Pop OS (yet another Ubuntu derived Linux distro) deciding to do one of its infamous random freezes while I'm in the middle of something. This only started recently and from all the searching I've done, there is no definitive reason why it's happening. TL;DR : Linux user nerd rant.
