  1. Hi fellow secondlife residents, I am Having trouble with a decision. Indecisive doesn't even describe it. Does anyone know or is anyone here a psychic/intuitive/tarot reader who is good with decision based readings? Any recommendations? Love from Kasia
  2. It would just be so fun if so many people were welcomed and represented from the get go in SL, that's all... 😢 :')
  3. I just made a new alt account and I chose non-binary and was given a light-skinned/white avatar. Okay it's fine but how about being able to choose avatar when signing up? From many options? When I joined SL before I believe I was given a choice of a few starter avatars of different skin tones. There must be a creative solution for this that LL can do to change this Is there any way LL can make this more inclusive from the get go? Thank you! [edited for better energy]
  4. A lot of the discussion here is about looting and defacing property. I think this video helps clear up the WHY of what is happening instead of focussing and judging the WHAT, as Kimberly Latrice Jones shows in this video.
  5. Drag performers Peppermint and Bob the Drag Queen are doing weekly videos. So far they have discussed Black Lives Matter and intersectionality (with a focus on queer intersectionality):
  6. Hi everyone! (For context of my positioning, I am white) This is simply a post where people can share resources for the movement for Black Lives. I think we all engage with different forms of media differently. I tend to prefer podcasts and videos than books. But I thought it could be helpful for people to share links to things they have read/watched/listened to made by Black people that discuss the movement for Black Lives/ the Black Lives Matter movement. The following is a video that has been shared a lot on instagram and was a really clear explanation about perspectives on the protests with a background in the history of the last 500 years of Black lives in America and how white society has treated Black people during that time, and the social contract we make with the police that the police force have repeatedly broken when it comes to their interaction with Black people. Speech by Kimberly Latrice Jones in the following Link: https://www.instagram.com/tv/CA5dceQJUF5/?igshid=w14k0cb0b4sc
  7. Hello FairreLilette, I do not know what your racial background is, but if you are not black I think that donning a Black skin would be inappropriate. If you wish to support the movement in SL, I think it is much more effective to show yourself as your RL race or with your preffered SL presentation (furry etc.) for the following reasons: 1) For example, I am white. If my white avatar visually supports 'Black Lives Matter' it does the following: People who support white supremacy will see that other White people will not cosign the ideology of White supremacy and will in fact support the Black Lives Matter movement, which makes them feel less entitled to promote anti-Blackness because they know that they will not be supported by other Whites. People who do not empathise with the Black Lives Matter movement because of internalised racism will see me, as a white avatar, and subconsciously relate more because they can imagine being in my shoes more than in Black people's shoes because that is a shared experience White people have. I can therefore serve as a possibility model for how to express support of the Black Lives Matter movement for other Whites. People who are on the fence about vocally supporting Black Lives Matter, but who do in fact empathise and support the movement to some extent, will at least think about engaging as well. Friends will know about something I care about and will think about engaging as well. 2) If you present as furry/non-human it sends a message to other people who are part of your community in SL, or who respect your community, that you also support Black Lives Matter and because they relate to you as a non-human form in SL, they might also be more interested in how they might wish to engage with the Black Lives Matter movement. Wearing clothing that says BLM, starting conversation about it would be good too, and I'm thinking of making a group we could join where the header above our username would be 'Black lives matter!' so that we do not even need to divert conversation in events about it, and can just have it as a matter of fact statement wherever we visit in SL. I will make a post when I made that group.
  8. Also, I'm interested in those who are interested in magic/spiritual practice as it relates to social change/collective consciousness/social justice. Didn't mention that in first post, and can't edit now.
  9. A request from OP: A lot of people seem to think this thread was intended to debate, be polemic and to argue why their own brand of spirituality is the best or their own take on it is the best. None of that was what I intended this thread to be about. Especially belittling other people's perspectives. So please start a new thread if that's what you are interested in. Please post here if you are discussing how people interested in spiritual practice can connect on SL. I encourage a diversity of perspectives. I discourage hijacking this thread for promotion of personal beliefs.
  10. Original message: Hey I'm a witch, energy witch, like everyone is I think but anyway. I'm looking for witches who know they are witches. Not people who are role-playing. But people who wish to create spells for maximum effect. Let me know in forum inworld or in private message where you are Xo Edit for clarity: I should have been more clear about things I guess when I wrote. Clarity is important, so here goes. The existence of atoms and blablabla seems to be very flexible. I'm looking to connect with beings who are interested in using words as spells that are spelled with the spelling they use. The linguistic root of magic is 'to be able', I'm looking for people who are looking to utilise that which they are able to do in creative ways. Interested to connect with those who are interested in being conscious creators with their reality using their own form of magic (witchcraft [experimental or traditional], art, connection to Source, anything). I'm interested in those who are looking to use their own form of magic for the highest individual and collective good, but that can, of course, also include daemons. Private message or message in world if interested. oX Edit #2 for expanding on the sort of connections I am looking to make: The edit for 'clarity' was a little tongue in cheek. I'll try again.. I'm inviting to connect with me people who are spiritual practitioners of any kind and/or those who use forms of divination, a cultural/traditional/inherited magic(k)al practice, an experimental art form, dance, kindness, writing, automatic writing, meditation, card-reading, crystal work, philosophy, astral projection, spells (in the magical exaggerated sense of spellcasting, or in the simple sense of words being 'spelled' a certain way with letters), music-making, textile work, basically anything, anything that has some kind of intention for creation rooted in some kind of spiritual perspective is what interests me at the moment. The fact that I am being so vague is because I don't personally prescribe to a particular tradition of spiritual practice, and I know that there is a large variety of ways to have that kind of connection to Spirit/non-physical/etc. worlds. I know personally, for me, that there is a connection to the forces outside of me, whether I see that as scientifically with the forces of nature/physics/e.g. gravity etc., or more esoterically with the way that vibrations of thought and feeling could potentially be linked to these forces of nature, or other forces like social, interpersonal, intrapersonal, etc. I'm not talking about movie-style superpowers in the Hollywood sense per se, but I do think that those representations are exaggerations based on some truths such as seeing the future as the power of meditative foresight, or telekenises as the potential to be guided by intuition to move quickly towards a destination. Just my opinion, just a potential, just an analysis. The way I see these things will probably change for me in the future, but it is something that I think has a potential for interesting exploration in the simulation-reality of Second Life and its relationship to the simulation-reality of Social Life. Obviously these perspectives are quite out there, and I am still learning how to express these things. Ultimately I am interested in fun, playfulness, wellbeing, health, joy, smiles, connection, experimentation.
  11. same! in the uk here. and to everyone who is writing debating gender, just let this person be!!!! gosh.
  12. Hi there, searching the web and getting confused. I have a macbook pro and SL crashes a lot (Intel Graphics HD 4000, 4GB RAM) I heard Firestorm viewer apparently might be able to solve some of the issues of Intel graphics card, so I will switch to that instead of using SL viewer. I also have slow internet which is getting upgraded by a loooot next week so maybe that will solves some of the issues but I assume that the graphics card is also part of the issue of frequent crashes/slow FPS. Is it possible to buy an external graphics card for macbook? Any other hacks to get best performance possible with this graphics card limitation?
  13. Ah I meant interactive as in social. That sounds interesting but my interest in SL and in art is primarily on the social/musical side rather than the graphic.
  14. Thanks for the suggestion! I'm looking more for interactive avant-garde-ness than visual art, but that could be a great place to make some connections!
  15. Great advice! Yes that was my plan, to have the prices in mind as I go slowly with it Much appreciated :)))
  16. Intriguing advice. After googling safe hubs I found a location called Safe Hub and that there are lots of Safe Hubs? I'm a little confused. Can you please give me another signpost?
  17. It's a wide definition for sure. I would loooove any recommendations, if you're willing to share!!! :~)))) Maybe! What sort of art do you like? Avant-garde is different for everyone. For me, an avant-garde artist is someone who strives for something different, unique, forward-thinking or unusual, or maybe someone who uses art as a way of creating healing, or communication, or fantastic visuals, or pop music with a message, or graphic design with a twist. Avant-garde can be anything, I think, but I think it's not trying to 'fit in'. I think Second Life is quite an avant-garde 'game' or platform, for example.
  18. Yes! I want to be a respectful space. I don't think I would be having a lot of people, it would probably be small gatherings, but in case it does grow it might be worth getting a homestead. I hope it's okay to ask, but after googling about Homesteads I'm a little confused. It seems I can't rent homesteads as part of a premium membership. Or can I rent a homestead with my premium land allowance? Because I don't have much knowledge, I don't even know where to start with knowing what a good value homestead is... Something as good value as possible for small events of like up to 20 people.. I would appreciate a few signposts if you are willing to give some.
  19. or is anyone interested in setting up an avant garde space together?
