  1. I think you have a different understanding of a traceable trail than I do. It's not just the money trail from account to account (relatively easy to follow), there's also a huge digital trail that LL can follow (more difficult and complex, yet doable) through the marketplace and to different accounts. So in no way is the trail "breaking" at any point; it just gets more complex. What is the point of talking about one minute aspect about this situation that is completely irrelevant anyways? You talk about how sellers shouldn't put up their items because they facilitate money laundering. That's so irrelevant and what do you think the marketplace was implemented for? For people to put their items up for sale. Again, I reiterate, stop being useless. Be productive and focus on the root of the problem, account security. If we had account security, you wouldn't be talking about "money laundering" because hackers wouldn't be able to get into accounts as easily and stealing RL money. Other games have forced users to secure their accounts; LL should do the same. Don't gaslight me. We know what you meant. Stick with it.
  2. What stop guards? LL does not have any stop guards to deter thieves. Many games have had this problem of hackers / thieves laundering money through a marketplace ie. Steam, Blizzard, and they have stopped it with things like 2FA or using a separate authenticator process for the accounts themselves. You shouldn't be sitting there accusing and haranguing people of using the marketplace as it was suppose to be used. Instead, be productive and ask LL to give us a way to secure our accounts better.
  3. yes this! We really should be asking LL to put in something like 2FA for every account. I've seen small companies implement it, why can't LL? Massive amounts of money move through many of these accounts and it's not as if 2FA is a revolutionary procedure now. Most people are used to doing it. The majority of you guys are so worried about yourselves and getting your money back etc, but are not focusing on the real problem: account security. If we could rely on LL, we wouldn't have to worry as much about hackers. Also keep in mind that LL is overturning assessments FOR NOW, but who is to say this will continue? They won't do it forever. Like MarquisdeSade pointed out, it's coming out of their own pockets and is probably a net negative.
  4. I honestly see the gifting option being taken off as a negative for other stores that don't sell no copy / trans items, so in the long run, I don't see that being implemented, BUT why is 2FA not a thing in SL? We put in our payment / bank info, and some of us even send in our personal info such as driver's licenses to LL. That information should be protected and not so easily hacked. This is a huge failure on LL's part to not give us an option to secure our accounts further. AND the hackers probably wouldn't be able to get into accounts that have 2FA enabled. LL could go further and do what Steam did when they first introduced 2FA into trading; putting a hold time on items before they can be delivered if you don't have 2FA enabled. On steam, the hold time was 7 days I believe, but here even a hold time of 24 hrs would be sufficient to deter hackers and make sure that sellers on MP are not scammed out of their goods. The way it is right now, LL makes it very easy for hackers to get away with what they're doing.
  5. I'd like to know where you see these names so you can block them. I've been getting hit with these and haven't even known until now since I haven't been on sl much lately. I asked connorboy to be added to the group to stay informed but not sure where to see these things which stores?
