  1. Fun pic! The grass needs mowing, I notice LOL
  2. Always welcome of course! What an amusing and inventive picture!
  3. I just also do this mainly for my own pleasure but it is still nice to be among the 'Editors' picks' with Dutch estate now. https://secondlife.com/destinations/editor
  4. Okay, I didn't want it at first. Too cliché. But then again, I already have an old mill and a Zaandam house, so let's have a tulip field too. A small one then (because they eat prim, those b*tches).
  5. Honoured you payed a vist! Glad you explored the houses. They are part of the 'experience.' I try to make them in a way you feel there are really people living, with a life and stories. I was certainly helped that one of the creators of the objects I use is also a storyteller. One room of villa Utrecht for instance, the guest room, has the story of a family who pays a visit to villa Utrecht before they immigrate to the USA. That happened a lot in The Netherlands after the second wolrd war. In many cases, their families in the Netherlands never saw them again. In those years, such a trip as a holiday destination was unaffordable for many in The Netherlands
  6. The spring version of Dutch estate is in the destination guide: https://secondlife.com/destination/dutch-estate
  7. And DE STAAT in duet wit Luwten: Tie me down.
  8. And more Torre Florim as singer of the band DE STAAT with the - to me - still amazing song Witch doctor.
  9. The Dutch singer and composer Torre Florim (DE STAAT - the State) covered Firestarter from The Prodigy gracefully! And... it's VERY different from the original.
  10. 'Those we love don't go away. They walk beside us every day.' It's carved on the foot of the mourning statue next to a pair of family crosses in the park of villa Utrecht. And that is exactly how I experience it. As long as I live, I carry my deceased loved ones with me.
  11. My imagination is wild, but for Dutch estate I base its layout on RL examples. Waterland, for instance, is partly based on Zaandam and Broek op Waterland. Even the cupid I saw in a Dutch garden of an old Manor. But is it reality? It's a bit like Magritte. It looks like RL but of course it is still imagination. 'Ceci n'est pas une pipe.'
  12. Here is conductor/singer Barbara Hannigan in her role as singer with another great female conductor: Karina Canellakis! Karina I saw live as a conductor a week ago in Tivoli/Vredenburg, Utrecht. She is great!
  13. Barbara Hannigan is not only a great conductor but she is also a wonderful singer. Did you know you can do both at the same time? She can! In Voix humaine, an opera for solo voice from Poulenc based on a play from Jean Cocteau
  14. I think the feeling/longing to have such a place, whatever it is called, is universal.
  15. The little one person-chapel in the park was the last one to turn from winter into spring!
  16. Ow thank you! That feeling is exactly what I want to convey. It has to do with comforting things. I can go on SL and elsewhere to beat all kinds of dragons, but when I am at Dutch estate, I simply want to feel at home.
  17. I was unstoppable, so worked on one piece to change Dutch estate from winter to spring. My land was open all the time and I did have visitors, but I'm fine with them having a work-in-progress experience. But apart from some fine-tuning, Dutch estate is now spring-ready! [I planned to had it done begin March, but I am early finfished] Alas, fans of winter and snow, hooray lovers of spring!
  18. That is really a moving story of true friendship. Warms my heart. Make me think of classical music especially written for a pianist who lost one arm. Mauric Ravel (the guy from the famous bolero), wrote Piano Concerto for the Left Hand for pianist Paul Wittgenstein who had lost his right arm in the First World War.
  19. She is! I so love her and her attitude! Child of sin from the same named album is a duet with Till Lindemann of Rammstein, also amazing!
  20. Kovacs - Mata Hari (Live at Royal Theatre Carré)
  21. Kovacs - The Devil You Know A wonderful Dutch singer/composer with a perfect sence of drama and the voice of Eartha Kitt.
  22. The so called arrogance of the creator is not that of creators but the arrogance of humans being arrogant. I have great admiration for the creators of SL. Without them, I cannot furnish my land, dress up my avatar. Recently I saw a creator who made bouquets like old still lifes of old Dutch masters. Wonderful! Hooray for the creators!
  23. Waterland is finished! Now I am turning the rest of Dutch estate from winter into spring (publicly, it remains open). The parcels Waterland and the rest of Dutch estate are not adjacent (though nearby), but you can easy be transported from one to another.
