Thank you SO much for all that detail, Rolig, I learned a lot and I will check out the Knowledge Base article too. I have an AO but it was already made so I didn't have to know much about it, so this is my chance to really learn a few things now. I will, as you suggest, look around in world too. And I will keep coming back to what you have said here. I really appreciate it all, and hopefully others will find this useful in the future too (which is how I came across this old thread with a google search in the first place!)

Oops! I think I may be starting to understand what's wrong with what I am doing. This script is not an animation, then? It's just a script to make an animation run in a certain way? Oh dear... though I didn't get any messages saying "Could not find animation..." But anyway... I think I need to find a holding animation to run with the script! Could this be an appropriate animation? So this is an old old topic and maybe the people who were in the conversation so long ago are no longer active, but it seems to address the scripting topic I need. Having said that, I am a totally novice scripter (that is to say, green as grass!) and I am sure my total ignorance is all that's in my way :) So I have an object which, when it is attached to my hand, I want my hand to stretch out with the object attached, as if holding it. Read all the updates of the last couple of days, learned lots from many wiser than me, and understand the various viewpoints. Each has to be persuaded for themselves, for sure. For me, it boils down to: Legacy looks like a great body and I would guarantee to buy it if their business practices were like Maitreya. But they're not, so I won't. The whole shopping experience at their sim is awful; and the amount of concrete information on their website is abysmal - just a few very random FAQs and a whole ton of hype. Compare this to Maitreya's informative blog. So that's my approach, good for me and apparently quite a few others. But I do understand why some take a different view, and they are entitled to it. By the way, as to SL disappearing - hey, true - nothing lasts forever. The Roman Empire gave it a good go, the US (aka American Empire, especially if you're from the South, hehe) is making a fair attempt but I think are past their pinnacle, and the same is probably true of the Linden Empire. Sansar seems to be going nowhere fast. I wonder what is around the corner?

If they are not going to use the LiveHelp avatar, don't leave it online. The simple query to which I never received a reply after repeated attempts which was a watershed for me was how to buy damn fingernails. They were not interested. End of the line for me.

Wow, just reading back through the thread after I made my post, and I find actually nothing has in fact changed re their support. That's exactly what used to happen - you'd never hear back from that anonymous faceless LiveHelp avatar. I'm surprised to hear with their new upgrades that that is still happening. Reinforces what I said above. *sigh*

Just realized that this Legacy body I've been seeing referred to is some upgrade from TMP. On investigation it seems they would want me to lay out another 2500L to upgrade from my old TMP. I am a year moved on from TMP, now very happy in a much more mainstream environment. The only thing I miss about TMP is a slightly better boob shape. Apart from that, their HUDs were a nightmare and customer service, after they had milked the SL community for as much as they could get, pretty much just disappeared. Not even the most basic enquiries were EVER answered. I hear various stories these days about how things have changed, customer service is said to be better - for now. (It was ok last time, to start with, I was told, but by the time I got it, at the tail end, it was already just not happening) As for lifetime upgrades - they don't exist with this lot. They want another 2500L for an upgrade. My new body gives them out for free. If you trust this outfit with your money you might be happy for a time, but don't be surprised if the same happens once they've made a new packet of money and you have struggle for service once again. Only time will tell. But they won't get me again, that's for sure.
