  1. Ahhh so i should create a bounding box myself and use it as the physics, gotcha. Well, i've just done it and it's brought down the price significantly (i have 36 Lindens left over from something and previously i didn't have enough L to upload it; now it's 32L. But i still have the texture issue. Is there some specific way i can get it to go from looking like this (left image in second life upload previewer) to this (how it looks in blender)? also, here are the other settings i've made. i'm not sure if they're optimal for the object, so i just figured i'd put them here so someone could maybe explain to me in layman's terms what i'm *supposed* to be doing, but am not:
  2. Hey guys, thanks so much for all your advice. I now understand about better seam marking and less edge loops!! After remeshing the triangle, it's now uploadable, but for some reason there's a big ole stretch mark-hole type situation down the centre of the triangle, which is strange seeing as i specifically used the knife to cut down there and added a seam. Also, it'll cost me 35L to upload??? nothing has ever cost me more than 15L to upload, which is making me concerned? Also, and this is possibly my biggest issue - it isn't applying the textures correctly in the preview. This is what it's supposed to look like: and this is what it looks like in the uploader: here's a view from the side: are the models supposed to be slightly transparent in the preview window, or did i do something wrong? thanks again everyone for your continued help! UPDATE: when i select "triangulate" in the export options, it gets rid of the seam, but the preview is still kind of transparent and the scaling of the textures is still way off.
  3. thanks so much for this! also here are the pictures of the triangle in edit mode. I had to split the front and back bits because of the seams, so there's two screenshots: the front: the back: also, for some reason scaling the object down doesn't help either. the triangle bit is still preventing second life from uploading properly. also, unfortunately i don't have avastar. Maybe i could try using that, but as you said, it's just a plaster and not a real fix...
  4. Okay, i tried uploading each part individually. It seems to be the big triangle part of the earring that second life has an issue with, every other .dae file was okay uploading-wise. What can i do to make the triangle uploadable? it's kind of the "main attraction"... here's a screenshot of the earring: And the back bit:
  5. How do i upload lower lods? i've never uploaded separate lods. I didn't even know individually uploading them was a thing, i only do the one .dae file with whatever's inside
  6. Let me just add, every time i export the earring from blender, it says it exported 8 objects, as there are different materials to the earring (metal parts and a patterned part). i created UVs and set up nodes and all that so that shouldn't be the information that's missing. idk, maybe the extra info could be helpful?
  7. I tried scaling the earring down and it also didn't work, i still got the same dae parsing issue with the triangle/vertices set as "N/A" ToT
  8. thanks so much for the advice. I tried triangulating the earring before exporting, as well as not doing so, and neither work? or did you mean something else? sorry i'm still kind of a blender newbie ToT Also, i'm not quite sure how to remove/delete histories? or what that even is? sorry, could you explain further?
  9. what do you mean an exporting preset? which screenshot aree you referring to?
  10. Okay, so i was using blender. I exported using the default export settings for .dae files. I didn't edit any of the export settings because i don't know how I don't really know what to screenshot because there are literally no special options when exporting, but i'll attach a few screenshots anyway: so yeah, i'm quite confused. Here's a screenshot of what second life says when i try to upload the mesh as a mesh model:
  11. Hey guys, so i just created an earring that i'd like to import from blender to second life. I triangulated the mesh, made sure not to mirror anything because of the way that blender sometimes messes up with that, the works... but i still got the following error message in my firestorm.log file when i tried to upload it, along with the usual "error: dae parsing issue - see log for details.": any advice? Thanks
  12. Okay, let me try and re-explain because clearly nobody seems to really understand what's what, and things are getting out of hand. I signed up to second life in the end of november 2019. I sent my first notecard requesting support in the beginning of december, after watching a youtube video on what to look out for when requesting vendor support (e.g. contact preferences). Since the very beginning, i have gone out of my way to first check a vendor's profile for contact preferences before actually contacting them. In some cases, i have had to join discord servers or find someone on flickr, so i haven't JUST been sending notecards. I have been following their preferences very closely. However, on all the platforms where i have requested help OUTSIDE of second life, i have received said help within a day or two. It's ONLY on second life when i am sending notecards that i either have to wait FOREVER (more on this in a second) or never get an actual response. Now, on the confusion of me saying "i never get a response", this is true in 99% of the cases. Thus far, i have sent at least 15 notecards asking for support on a variety of topics, from missing items in unpacker folders to duplicate purchases -- so a wide variety of things -- however i have only ever received TWO notecards, each from a different vendor, in response to my support cases. With both of these notecards, i had sent the original support request in early december, and received a notecard back at the END of january. HOWEVER, these two notecards requesting support were not the ONLY notecards that i sent in december. I sent at least 5 others if my memory serves correctly, none of which garnered a response. In january i sent some more due to the various sales and some issues i encountered, and you guessed it, no response. In february i have also sent some, and no response. So out of ALL my attempts to contact vendors, only twice was i successful within second life, and otherwise i was ALWAYS successful outside of the platform. but when a vendor hasn't got any social media or other forms of contact listed, notecards or IMs are the only option, and when they don't reply it is infuriating as i follow their wishes to contact them that way to the T. So this post was really just me asking: has anyone else experienced this? is it just me? why is it happening? does anyone know anything? what i had NOT intended was for this post to become a breeding ground for negativity and argumentation. So can we please regroup at ground level, stay on topic and talk about the issue at hand. If this doesn't work, i will just delete the thread as it will be pointless. Thanks. Edit: in response to Alyona, thanks for your reply, but i do always praise the merchants and thank them for their amazing work, formulate my sentences in as lovey-dovey a way as possible, so it isn't the formulation. But thanks for the advice on the 3-day rule. I'll try that out where i can. 😄
  13. wym? i don't quite understand, sorry. Sometimes i struggle with english as i'm bilingual... i didn't know there was another question involved, sorry... what was it?
  14. Yeah, idk if my notecards are getting through to people? is there something in the firestorm settings that i could maybe check?
  15. Hey, so i'm not sure if this is just me or if it's happening to anyone else(?), but for some reason, merchants never seem to answer my support request notecards. Even when they specifically say on their profiles to send them one, and i do, they never reply. The last time i got a reply was like a month ago, and that was for a notecard i sent in the beginning of december. Is it normal to keep customers waiting for a whole month to answer their notecards? Or not to answer them at all? Help?? 😧
  16. Hi, thanks so much for your reply. Yes, i flattened her eyelids as much as possible. In the end it turned out that the skin was really weird in some lightings, so i bought a new one from Not Found and it fixed the issue in 90% of the cases where there's iffy windlighting. Thanks so much for the help though!!
  17. Hey guys, so this might be a bit of a strangely niche issue, but i'm having some troubles with my avatar's eyelids. I want her to have monolids, and i've tried messing around with the eyelid sliders, making them completely flat, etc, as well as trying various monolid "makeups", but to no avail. The above image is my avatar without any "makeup" on her eyelids. As you can see, even though the skin i have specifically doesn't have an eyelid fold, there's still a very visible crease. Now in this image, i've applied a mask to the eyelid area, but they're still very visible. It's really irking me, because i have no idea what to do to fix this. I've tried various windlights, but it really makes no difference. I've raised the opacity on my genus hud's eyeshadow region to 90% (for some reason i can't get it to 100), but even so, whether it's set to 60% or 90%, it seems to have the same coverage -- which is not much. Does anyone have any possible solutions? i'd appreciate it a lot, thanks. ♥
  18. Hey, so i have these weird shadows under my eyes in-game. I'm wearing the HEART WIFI / IO SKIN TONE 2 and i have the CalWL window light on I've never noticed it before and when i initially applied the skin (maybe ten minutes ago?) it was okay for a while until i started playing around with blush. I'm wearing the Genus classic head and i was playing with the genus blush that comes with the HUD. I've tried removing it, but to no avail -- the weird shadows stay. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!
