Just to give my two cents with the experience I have..

Photography commissions absolutely exist within SL, but from what I've seen, the most popular style is an artistic style for profile pics/avatar shots, which is drawn or painted over in an editing or art program. This not only requires experience in the program of choice, but also with color theory and digital art/painting, using proper windlights, camera angles, etc. There's definitely other styles out there, which could be done almost entirely inside SL with a little bit of photoshop, but still requires skill with editing and windlight choice. Green-screening can be a huge pain (It certainly has been for me, even with anti-aliasing) but the alternative is paying for back drops.

There are also commissions revolving around events, such as weddings, but these also require experience - and most people will only hire someone who is experienced for this (or a photographer who comes bundled in a wedding package provided by a wedding planner. Getting hired by a marriage company is pretty difficult for photography due to portfolio and experience requirements.)

I worked in-game for a photography studio as a sales rep for a very long time, and the hiring requirements for photographers were super high. I even spent some time working on artistic portraits. I worked IRL with a real professional photography studio for about a year doing the editing myself while assisting my boss who took the photos for clients, so I have a bit of experience in both.

People are pretty unlikely to pay for mediocre work... which isn't a bad thing - almost all beginners are fairly mediocre at first. SL photography is very different from RL photography, although things like editing in PS, good lighting, and color theory remain the same. Also... food and nature photography is absolutely beautiful and requires its own set of skills - but portrait photography is much, much different and would require learning a new skill set (going off what you already have, of course)

What I suggest is doing some free, or cheap, work to build a portfolio and practice. Practicing is vital here and few people will even consider a photographer or editor without a portfolio (Just as people here are unlikely to hire a manager with no experience, or unlikely to hire a freebie newb avatar for an escort club.) You could even just try taking photos of your own avatar or your friends and work on them and experiment, that's what I did.

Keep in mind that most photographers who do commissions in SL have spent years doing this, building up giant portfolios and increasing their skill level significantly over time. It's unrealistic to think that as a beginner, one could jump into the commission business unless it's a "SL photography prodigy" situation. And keep in mind it should be done because it's fun or interesting to you, not just to make some money off commissions - it'll ultimately make you miserable... I've been there in other situations.

im mostly new to sl photography but im more experienced in rl photography like nature and some food photography , here is one example

  6. hello, looking  for a job on sl, a friend suggested hosting since its easy, and idk if server is either, so I wanted to see if there was any options, but also wouldn't mind advice too, not looking for adult stuff, mostly moderate, or a place that very friendly and welcoming too

  7. So i been curious and wanted to see if there was a way to store lindens in a object or item that can hold your lindens and and can also withdraw too, that way i dont accidentally spend them all at once and at the same time save up for things like, future goals like a item in the marketplace or whatever, and also would would prevent from spending it all at once too since i also have that terrible habit >.<, so i was curious as to if there was a way to put lindens in a object or item so that it ca be saved up, so if you have any advice or know of  something, then feel free to comment below :3

  8. Hii, so last time i posted on advice on my marketplace and inworld store and did do some of the suggestions told in comments (thank you) but i am still having no sales, and would like to ask for some advice once more if thats ok?: so someone said to flood the keywords with words pertaining to selling product, another suggested lowering the price, and another suggested using my own watermark on my photos in my frames and to put original photo before title, plus put  ''in frame'' since i sell nature photography in frames ( all photos are hand taken by yours truly's own camera, not googled), and did most of those suggestions, but still havent made much progress, so i came back here and kindly wanted some  advice again if theres anything else that would be good.

looking forward to your advice and thank you in advance ^-^

  9. Hi, i been hearing about inworld jobs and been wondering what kind of job would be good for someone who hasnt gotten one yet, but i am confused as to which kind i could do, i mean i have read the wiki about it and still dont know what i could choose right now, i mean, something that doesnt require rated M stuff like some dance clubs do, i mean nothing like stripping or something too skimpy, i also like doing photography or something easy but pays well, if you can provide some help or advice it would be appreciated :3

  10. thank you very much @Alyona Su and i will mention that these are taken by me and were very hard to take and  that i worked hard for them, thats why i priced them at 200, i will mention that also in the decription, thank you for the wondrous help ^-^, makes my day here, cause im trying so hard to sell them and share my love for art and photography with others like this, and to make a living as well to help in rl as well for my family too

i also take them based on mood, or the time or day or when i feel that day is perfect for it, i love nature and i love doing them with all my heart as a artist :3

and thank you @Chic Aeon for the tutorials , been meaning to try to learn to make my own frames as well!!, cause i didnt want to just sell my photography in frames , but make my own frames to sell as well too, i dont know how to make meshes or any type of avatar items at all sadly,  and i will learn scripting too if possible as well :3, and they are in frames, just that i take the snapshot inworld and crop it afterwords

  11. these photos were taken by me, by hand, by my own camera, i will mention that in description, i never use googled photos, and i am learning to take ones in sl right now, i will try classes too as well and the tutorial as well thank you, i will do my best and thank youfor the land impact thing, i might make them modifiable instead then

besides idk how to do any type of mesh or clothes or anything for avatars at all, i mainly know how to do photography right now, its been my long lived hobby of mine  for as long as i remembered

  12. Hii, um im new to marketing and started a marketplace last month, cause i still havent gotten any much selling and i dont know if selling photos in frames is a good selling category cause , its the only thing im good at right now, so i wanted to ask for some tips and advice on how to make what i am doing better and or more successful in marketing, or if theres any thing i need to do so?, i also was wantong to ask about inworld as well, like whats the best place(s) to put up a inworld store, and how to draw more traffic as well too. so thats pretty much it so far, and im open to any tips or advice you can give me 😄
