Weeeeelllll ... that one probably is supposed to be an "on Land" house.  It's confusing ... when a pier is not sticking out into the water, but is instead itself completely on land, you have to think of it as a boardwalk, not a pier (I wish they had used different textures for those two cases).

It is further confusing that the HOUSE type (either OW or OL, there are no OP houses) doesn't have to be the same as the PARCEL type, which is what you see on the land page.  So, I think the above picture is an OW house attached to a boardwalk, which is on land.  So the parcel is OL.

    I think.

The one that confused me looked very similar to your picture, but I chose "On Pier" and got it.  I abandoned it, and then asked another owner what she had chosen, and she said "On Pier".  I would have expected all of those that looked like they were attached to a boardwalk to be "On Land".  Personally, I would always have preferred it if they were called "On Pier" when attached to a boardwalk.

    Now I've confused myself.

That is the first time i've personally ever had that happen. Granted I don't often have premium.. it'd actually been a while tbh.

    Very confusing though, definitely.

  2. I can't tell you how many creators i've notecarded about issues and never got a reply back until I sent a second notecard. At least 2 of them were tripping over themselves in apologies because SL must had eaten the first notecards. SL always seems to eat notecards.. don't know. Heck, i'll be writing a second notecard about an issue to somebody this week lol.
If you've already sent one, try another.

The Mirana body, when you bend the hips and look at them from the side, it doesn't look like a hip joint, but more like deformed bend or turn..

I liked the body until I seen that.. it just looked way to strange for me to look passed..

Oh see, now I didn't see that! (I turned my AO off to get a better look at the body itself).

If it's a body you like, you can always try to bring it up to the creator.. see if maybe it'll be something that's addressed at some point.

I've had it for like 6 months I think.. There is hardly any support for it from the creators.. It's one of the most quiet groups I'm in.. hehehe

I wouldn't spend the money they want for it unless it starts getting much better support from creators.

ETA: Even though I did spend the money for it.. hehehe

Actually it was like 2k less when I got it , because you had to get it by a certain time.. if it was full price ,I would have passed on getting it.

Also, I really don't like where it bends at the hips.. it looks really goofy..

This hip shape and the breasts pretty much round and smooshed together no matter what you do are what bother me the most.

  5. This is my first time hearing of this thing, and i've seen nothing for it at all.

Way too many bodies out there these days.

Just checked the demo on an alt(very much fiddled with sliders to see their response). Eh, that'll be a big pass for me.

  6. Any alts i've ever made only ever ran in to 1 region that had an age restriction(it was a skin creator), and it was nbd. I also didn't try to go to clubs and "hot spots".. While I don't see a ton of griefing going on, I have seen some, and after a while region owners just get sick of it.

I remember when I started SL, it was incredibly daunting, but i've never had the issues the OP had(even on newer alts) so I really have to wonder just what kind of places they were trying to go to.

  7. Kupra is the number 1 uncomfortable zone body for me.. along with that creator's previous bodies. I love curvy, but I tend to like thick/realistic curvy than heavily over-exaggerated, so Belleza Freya is still my go-to for curvy. Overall though I think Maitreya still reigns for the most comfort for me, mainly because I don't feel like i'm lagging the crap out of everybody around me, and I don't feel I look overly ridiculous shape-wise.

Then what would you recommend, pray tell?

I don't wear the onion layers or go around with the HUD on.

Maitreya is still considered the lowest lag in terms of mesh vertices. Least "heavy" visually overall, even likely with said bounding issue mentioned(which i'd never heard of until now). I don't know the specifics but just BOM and you're generally pretty golden. Maitreya's script lag is pretty decently low too compared to most of the popular bodies.

  9. The Hop N Shop for me was a bit of a disappointment. Waaaaay too many stores selling old items i'd seen 3 trillion times already, and what was new wasn't of interest to me at all. I think I bought nothing at all from any of those 16 regions. Kept maybe 2 gifts lmao.

The exhibition regions are usually a casual stroll, and pleasant. However, I often feel like i'm in a time-warp to SL 10 years ago when I go to many areas people have set up so i'm sad to say I pass by more of them than I stop to look. Not saying any of them are bad(they're really not), they are usually just not my cup of tea. It's also super easy to get lost.

I never have to worry too much about lag(at least in HNS) as generally i'll go to a region, turn all avatars off, and just cam.

  10. Many of the fantasy-type hairs from No_Match are older, so not quite as high quality as newer hairs. Especially the styles Rowan posted. Unfortunately for now at least, we can't really be picky if we want these types(I have an alt I used one of No_Match's older styles on. It's even older than those lol). If I was able to make hair, you can bet your booty i'd make plenty of fantasy-type styles. I'm pretty over and bored with all the voluminous up-n-swept hairstyles coming out these days.

  11. For femboy, i'd probably go with Maitreya as it has flat chested capabilities(not sure if Maitreya has an add-on for this themselves now, but they might. I know there are others). Maitreya is the most supported female body out there, and you'd be hard pressed to find any rigged mesh clothing that doesn't have it.

Edit: However keep in mind that flat-chested mods are less supported so you won't always find sizes for those.

  12. For newer things that may have Legacy sizes, I second Rowan's recommendation. I look forward to this event every month to see what they have in store.

Unfortunately though, a vast majority of stuff out there is for the bodies prior to Legacy. Lots of Maitreya. I wear the Legacy deformers to wear the Maitreya sizes in some things.

What's the point in wearing Legacy then(as it's much heavier than Maitreya), but sometimes i'm just too lazy to change from one to the other.

Although Freya is nice, that brand hasn't been updated in heaven knows how long.  It may never be.  Maitreya still seems to be the go to for most people for many reason.  Low triangle count (less lag) and perhaps the most support from content creators.  I, personally, love Legacy but it, too, has a lot of things people hate.  Super high triangle count, the HUD is tied to media and an off site server.  It just has an overall softer look than Maitreya.

Heads are mostly the 3 top names.  Lelutka, Catwa and Genus.  As @TrophySpousementioned,  demo them all with skins you like for the respective heads.  Skins made for one head may not look as good on another.  I usually use the base shape that comes with the skin and adjust face and body to my liking.

    Biggest thing.   Demo, demo, Demo!

According to the Belleza FB something is coming. Hints be droppin'. Probably too late at this point, but as somebody who likes Belleza i'd be happy for it.

Legacy is a lagbeast for sure.. The server thing is the worst part of it. The HUD breaks for me all the freaking time(and thus I have to redeliver to fix it).

  14. I like Flexi and still wear it from time to time because it's one of the only reliable ways to get a curly hairstyle that doesn't look like somebody spent 3 hours doing their hair. They just jumped out of the shower and let it go.

Not in to that half-flexi with hairbase thing other than just an updo ponytail. Really just looks incredibly awkward when I see it on people. Full flexi hair or mesh_flexi for me.

So yeah it is still around, but moreso in an awkward phase unless you go with older hairs still out there.

AvaStar and MayaStar both have tutorials on rigging with their Plugins. Both are on YouTube and AvaStar has some on Vimeo. AvaStar also has a set of tutorials behind a pay-wall.  I suggest MayaStar tutorials because rigging is rigging and you may pickup something.

In-world the Blender-AvaStar group can provide some help and point you to good tutorials.

Also, there are some SL gotchas few mention once they know about them. For instance the important one is limiting your weighting for any vertex to just 4 bones. When you go over 4 the SL system is unpredictable as to which four values it will use. But it WILL only use four. And it doesn't flash any warning if you use more than four. At least when I was messing up it didn't. That may have changed but I doubt it.

To get an idea of how others are rigging their heads you can use the Black Dragon viewer's Poser to move various bones and see the effect on the head.

I'll direct her to your post!

This avatar, I think I need this in my SL.  May I ask where you got it?

It's an avatar from a Gacha. Should be able to find plenty on the MP if you search up Wendigaunt. If you'd like to try your luck yourself, you can find it at ::Static::'s mainstore, I believe.

It doesn't come with any sort of AO, and most normal AOs look strange with it, so keep that in mind.
