  1. Are we being too nice? I feel that some of the "forumites" would like us to be nicey-nicey which translates to not be controversial. That does stifle free speech a bit here. However, I did not come to SL nor to go inworld to be mean in any way. As a matter of fact, I feel mean people suck and the thing I dislike most about SL are the griefers.
  2. I agree. I'm in the same camp. I have better things to do than to make sure I have given likes and such. I'm busy. I just don't have the time.
  3. I think most of us agree with you Innula. I just wanted to say one post but then make myself clearer on what I meant by my one post. If we all continued posting, it would be just a back and forth like tennis that never, ever ends. I also have work to do, so I am out of the thread now as I don't have time nor the luxury of time for internet "tennis". I knew the poster would not listen to me anyhow, but stuff they were saying the vaccine would do is actually what not taking the vaccine would do and I found that rather ironic. Done. out.
  4. It doesn't matter if people are paid if they'd have to quarantine, it's the fact that it makes the business unstable and possibly lose money and/or even have to attempt to hire temps which is utter chaos. What you propose by not vaccinating is apocalyptical.
  5. Test, quarantine, contain is outdated if and when vaccines are available to you or anyone. Many people in certain areas are vaccinated now and they don't want to quarantine as who would do their job for that long of a quarantine? Quarantines are outdated and people want a stable working life. I do not think you will believe me that what you propose is outdated; however, I just wanted to say that. Your idea above puts people and businesses on a rollercoaster, and it is outdated by vaccines.
  6. Pro-war propaganda or phishing scheme? I'd say phishing schemes. Your best bet is to not click on those as all you will get are more phishers.
  7. I was trying to remember if I was correct about free phones when I was a little girl. I always thought the phone was free when I was a kid. I am mistaken about that then. Greed is prevalent in this world there is no doubt about it. Money is a made up thing where man decided to place a value on just about everything.
  8. I don't know why you would stop playing AM/FM radio as it's free for the listeners not the broadcasters though. The radio stations pays the royalties and all can listen for free. I don't remember water ever being free but I do remember free TV and free phones. I think the cable companies want an absolutely outlandish price for cable TV. And, now we all have to pay for phones too. Radio is free though and mostly paid for by the advertisers. I never pay for radio. Cable and phones pay out the ying and the yang. I never minded free TV and it's commercials which used to pay for the TV.
  9. No, we don't. And, furthermore, if I buy a copy of a movie, the whole world can come to my house and watch the movie. Sorry, topic went off topic. I have not more to say either except I know the whole world, even if it took decades, could watch at my home a copy of a movie I bought or hear music I own. There is no clause that say "if you purchase this, only you can watch it or hear it". There is no such thing.
  10. Yeah, way too much off topic about the Netherland's especially which is neither here nor there really. No DJ in SL is going to ask people coming into a club, are you from the Netherlands because I don't have a special license for you. That's just not gonna happen. But, if you want to continue with this @Alwin Alcott, make your own thread.
  11. Why blather on about blathering? Why not just state your opinion instead? This ^^^^ is just as much off topic as any of the posts about licensing for music in SL. Some are saying because there isn't proper licensing then no payment should be given or that people shouldn't even go.
  12. I do not believe every individual has to have a license. If a club has one stream and license and DJ's have to use that, it's legal. It's like a radio station or even a church, they have several using the stream, not just one. I was told I needed a license most likely because I didn't have a job yet and more or less would have started out as an independent DJ, one not hired by a club with said license already.
  13. What? The license and service do pay royalties. What else is copyright law on the internet in a nutshell besides royalties according to YOU as I don't have time to read threads and such.
  14. Just to further clarify, I was going to be a DJ in SL and studied up on what to do a bit but real life plans changed for me so it ended up not a plan for me. But, I was told I would need to get a license. From the SL Wiki, it does say, one needs to get a license. Remember that streaming copyrighted music across the internet requires a license from your relevant national licensing authority. (It says this in the first paragraph in the SL Wiki below.) http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Streaming_Music
  15. I edited my post above but I'll add another link here too... This is the link on Shoutcast where it says to get a license from Sound Exchange. https://help.shoutcast.com/hc/en-us/articles/115000936894-Where-can-I-find-more-information-about-music-licensing-
  16. There was no live link there in your post. I looked up Shoutcast and I see it says to obtain a license from Sound Exchange. I remember this vaguely because I had wanted to DJ a few years ago and remember reading the Sound Exchange page briefly. I am not a DJ in SL though so I'm not familiar with all the goings on within the music here. https://www.soundexchange.com/ This is Shoutcast's page where it says to get a license from Sound Exchange. https://help.shoutcast.com/hc/en-us/articles/115000936894-Where-can-I-find-more-information-about-music-licensing-
  17. This is the pay for stream for the U.K.? Is that what you are saying? Well, of course others can listen, if that's the internet stream provider for the U.K. for the internet, they can play their stream for whomever is there I would assume with an exception of North Korea wherein that leader said death penalty for anyone trying to sneak in K-Pop into North Korea and hard labor/jail time for those who own or play K-Pop. But, North Korea is an odd exception. Also, I've never heard of having to pay per song to a DJ on the American radio? However, our radios are paid for by the advertisers or adverts as they are often called in Europe, and then radios pay out royalties through companies that process those payouts according to the radio plays each song received. I don't think it is against any countries laws, other than North Korea perhaps, to be a listener. Listeners usually aren't the ones paying the license; it's the player who pays the license. It sounds like in the Netherlands they don't want to pay for licenses, so no one is allowed to hear it albeit they believe privately they are allowed to hear/play it, whatever privately means to them...?. If their government broadcasters paid for the licenses, anyone can hear songs on the radio, TV or internet. The listener does not pay unless it's a music/juke box but those don't exist except in rare retro environments. DJ's pay for their stream and those streaming companies are supposed to pay royalties to the artist as per their contract. DJ's in SL, since there are no advertisers or very few (ad boards for some), DJ's and staff work for tips. SL music mostly is paid for plus I thought MEDIA/SOUND only takes certain URLS but I need a pro to clarify that URL thing. But, what I'm saying is the music in SL when a DJ is playing it is already paid, or the club is paying for their own stream which is legal as far as I know. DJ's work for tips to help cover their costs.
  18. Yes at times worried and at other times I'm just trying to live life in this "covid" world at the present time and hoping we can "beat" the variants. But, yes...worried. A solution? I haven't read the thread yet but I sure do hope so and we are all in this together no matter how much governments try to blame the other it's still most governments who need to get their act together as they have more power than we do, no pun intended. We are the little people, the worker bees, born into this mess in many ways. We are a product of our environment and that's how we learn. My family is a hit, miss or OCD type of recycler, with all kinds of recyclers in my family. I'm moderately good at recycling. I wish I had more positive to add but I have been very busy currently.
  19. VAT is one thing...I'm speaking more of varying laws mostly as pertain to ethics. The radio/TV/internet station has the broadcasting license in America. However, far too much American music and other products have been stolen for years/decades overseas with monies going entirely to someone other than the maker/makers or royalty holders of the actual product. So, in essence, you are saying in the Netherlands, commercial businesses are playing music for free and not using a license thus no one is allowed to hear it? Well, if they'd pay for the license, they could play it.
  20. Ask the DJ then. I've never been paranoid like this but still if you are paranoid, then don't listen ever . Most of SL and SLer's are on the up and up if want my opinion. They pay for their stream. This is an American business. In other threads I've seen posters saying "but Second Life must adhere to our laws, yada, yada". SL may compromise and keep others out of certain areas, but yes, some countries, with this American business, seem to think SL has to answer to their laws. Again, SL may compromise by keeping you out but it is your countries responsibilities to enforce their laws, not for American companies to babysit other countries laws. I think SL should put something in their TOS such as if anything is in violation of your countries laws, you are solely responsible for signing on.
  21. The problem with other countries saying one thing or another is illegal according to them should not be America's problem though. If it's illegal in your country, I have to ask myself what are you doing here? In other words, why isn't YOUR country blocking you from having access to that which is illegal? We cannot "babysit" every country in the world. If it's your countries laws, it should solely be your countries problem to enforce.
  22. I glanced over the article and it states "earlier cases" and nothing else about the earlier cases. I think China withholding information on the earlier cases has led to the conspiracy theories. China needs to give out more information on the earliest cases, not their names. I'm not talking about names. I'm talking about important, vital information.
  23. No, it takes a long time to get proof of these things especially from a country that had itself sealed up for a long time and/or is a problem child in that it does not communicate, look at the information it's given out about the first coronavirus cases as it may as well be counted as no information. But here is the log again wherein people are blind, it's China and Taiwan that are at war with itself. Geesh, read some news besides about Ivermectin.
  24. I still buy it from time to time. It's available on MP under the category FLEXI HAIR - go to Hair first, when Women's and you should find it.
  25. The thing is Bunny, China has a huge log in their own eye and it does not matter who brings it up when or where that is merely shifting blame into total nonsensical thinking instead of being honest and saying China needs to do something about this because being accused of crimes against humanity is a big deal. So, deal with your log in your eyes and then you can see where to help others.
