  1. My third Victorian of the evening (and my last roll of the dice) is this blue Hardy in Century. I think this is a pretty desirable plot (especially if you want a driveway) and as I'll be downgrading before I'd have the chance to try again, I'll hold onto it until Tuesday noon SL time in case anyone is especially interested in trying for it. (I've left all the doors open so you can take a look.)

  2. As Traditionals seem to be in short supply, I thought it worth mentioning that I will be releasing mine in Walrus Beach on Wednesday. It's set on a hill, with a view towards the water from upstairs (in the Winchester), no neighbors to the front or rear, and other nearby parcels are at a lower level so it feels very private. If you're particularly interested, let me know and we can arrange a time that would give you a good chance of getting it. Or, as I've just been reading, someone with a Premium Plus account might want to request it. It's still listed on the Parade of Houses blog under Resident Owned Places of Interest so is open to everyone (I requested that it be removed last week, so you shouldn't be bothered by anyone after the next update): http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Walrus Beach/91/110/32

  3. Hello! It's been almost exactly a year since I last posted anything in this thread:

(It's been a difficult 18 months in RL, as is the case for many others.) But, having taken a look at the massive L$ balance in my account recently, I've decided to revamp my Winchester trad. Prior to this, I'd set it up as a photo gallery, but as I didn't really promote it only a couple of people stopped by. It's still a gallery on the ground floor, but the upstairs is now a cafe, and I've redone the garden to make it a pretty and peaceful place to hang out. It'll be added to the next update of the "Resident Owned Places of Interest" listing maintained by @PrudenceAnton, but you can beat the crowds (ha!) and take a look before then! http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Walrus Beach/83/112/33  Just a quick walk down to the waterfront - if you listen closely, you can hear the waves crashing against the houseboat moorings every now and then!

Can also be acquired from the region SL17B Mesmerize, I think all the freebies at the gift boardwalk are the same as those at the shopping regions if no one fancies trying to wander round 10 shopping regions just for gifts

Oops, quoted wrong comment. Too excited about all the Lisp furniture!

My somewhat spartan (in comparison to others) Winchester is now fully decorated. Haven't been able to be in SL for, well, months, and I'm not sure how long I'll keep up a premium sub, but for now my house is open to anyone who wants to visit: http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Walrus Beach/88/112/33

I may have been premature in posting this - took a look at my L$ balance and thought I might as well spend some of it on a paint shell. This is what the house looks like now. And I still have about 35LI left :) And having the sounds of water and birds in the background makes all the difference!

Try different places on your parcel. I usually put the nature sounds closer to the house, then add the ocean one closer to parcel's edge - like it is coming in from the water. Sometimes I put a nature sound by the front porch and add the water one on the other side.  It just depends if you are creating outdoor areas to sit and entertain yourself.  If you end up near a lake or river, I'm really enjoying this Lake sound orb which is the more gentle sound of waves slapping up against the land. This one allows you to change the volume of the water sounds. It is a transparent orb so I do tuck that one into a flowerpot just so I don't lose it.

If anyone would like to listen to the lake sounds, you are welcome to head to my camp. Just find a camp chair and sit a spell.

Many thanks again - will do! [Edit] I've been playing around with the placement of the original sound controllers you mentioned - that hadn't occurred to me - and now I have the slightly muffled sound of waves in the distance and 2 sources of bird song that are louder, and it's great - thank you very much!

I added sounds to all my parcels, depending on their location. Check your inventory since I just dropped a package your way. For others, looking for the same thing, try this box of sounds for $1 L. Just rez a flower and enjoy the nature sounds or wave sounds. Big thank you to the creator Antreas Alter

Thank you, Eleanor! I couldn't find it in my inventory or notifications, but I've just gone to the MP to buy it and had a quick listen. I'd love to use the one with seagulls, but don't see any instructions for lowering the volume (my house is a bit away from the water, so ideally I'd like to hear my birdsong in the foreground with the waves and gulls in the background). Do you know if this is possible? If you haven't done this yourself, I'll contact the pack's creator.

@Alumna Cornell, love the creativity of setting up a gallery within your home. I may "steal" your idea of movie posters! What a fun way to decorate! That view of the harbor with houseboats is so real looking from your kitchen window. Wonderful job decorating your house!

Thank you! At least pre-covid I was a cinema addict and went 2-3 times per week - these were some of the last films I got to see. I was planning on updating the posters every few weeks (IMDB makes that easy ;) ). Maybe you or someone else reading this can help me with something - I've wandered around other parts of Bellisseria and heard lots of ambient sounds, but this house and the protected land around it is 'dead' - the only sounds I can hear are coming from the birdhouse I set up. My settings say that sounds *aren't* restricted to the parcel, so I should be hearing something - birds? - even if I'm too far away from the water to hear it lapping.

Yeah, I can't tell if it's still active, though, since I never joined it. One resident posted about it here a few times and said to IM her if you wanted an invitation, but I prefer open groups so never checked into it beyond that.

Have just seen this, Sylvia. I started the group back during the summer (have written more about it elsewhere in response to Chloe), and made it by invitation rather than an open group because I wanted to limit it to people who were active here in this thread, and because I didn't want to replicate something like Bellisseria Citizens. The idea was to take acquaintances met here and form a network of people who might become friends, not to amass a large number of people for the sake of it.
