  1. Except when it won't. Like on the Radeon 9500. Or when it won't run right, like on the GeForce 6600. I dunno about the Intel GMA950 and I don't wanna find out. SL can still run pretty well on the better recommended hardware, with the right settings. Not just jamming everything to low, either. I wouldn't recommend any of it now but it can work okay.
  2. It seems to frequently, but not always, coincide with crossing between a parcel using region environment settings and one using parcel environment settings.
  3. AMD HD graphics are ancient, you don't want any part of a Mac with that in it. The Mini with HD6630M graphics is from 2011. It might start SL, but it's going to be unusable. The 2020 M1 Mini will run SL just fine. That's the only Mini you should buy if you're going to run SL on it.
  4. It's what the avatars with the names over them are looking at. Developer menu > Avatar > Show look at
  5. It's been a year since the M1 Macs were released and there's still no sign of a universal binary viewer. When the Intel Macs were released in January '06 there was a viewer in March. At this point I think when something major breaks, that's the end of Mac support for SL.
  6. It shares the visual characteristics of 3D games. They are if the planes have guns.
  7. No, what broke a lot of stuff was macOS Catalina a year earlier when Apple finally cut off support for 32-bit applications. The platform switch to ARM didn't break much at all, and software runs better than it did on comparable Intel Macs.
  8. Seems like compiling for Apple Silicon would be a lot easier. I'm assuming LL is able to spring for an M1 Mini.
  9. Go to the destination guide through search, not the toolbar button or world menu.
  10. It’s a Mac thing then, despite supporting OpenGL 4.1, the viewer is stuck on 2.1. That debug option isn’t available.
  11. Kinda sure. I went to http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Nautilus - Shalim/253/201/23 to check it out and the invisiprims in the drydock acted exactly the same in Kokua (non-RLV) and Firestorm.
  12. Is there a setting for this? It doesn't look like invisiprims are being rendered with ALM on in the Mac version.
  13. FWIW, AMD ReLive will record OpenGL games in a window, but not full screen. Sub-optimal.
  14. Not having the same experience as you is not a religious frenzy. I've found Firestorm to be reliable and perform as well as or better than the Linden viewer. Including in extremely crowded venues. I'm happy to give other viewers a spin. So far I haven't found any compelling reasons to switch from FS as my daily driver viewer. The one thing I see much better on my PC than yours that may be making a difference is the memory. I have more than 8GB in the PCs I run SL on, which may explain why our respective experiences in crowded places are very different.
  15. The current version runs great for me. Better than any previous version I can recall.
  16. @Alexa Linden Is the frame rate supposed to be capped at 60fps? (or anyone else who knows, or is getting > 60fps)
  17. 1980 called and says it wants its ***** back.
  18. Can you put that on Hollerith cards for me?
