Bunch of typical responses from people here in the forums. Sarcasm and rudeness to anyone to ever says anything disparaging about sl or about leaving because sl is no longer what they liked.

Sounded to me like bringing out the snark was the whole reason for the post.

I think that depends upon whether one can prove knowing and purposeful negligence. And that probably would be difficult to actually prove in court.

It would be super difficult to prove a leader's state of mind and that they were deliberately lying. Such a leader would have to do something like state they knew the dangers of the disease early on and deliberately withheld that information from the public. It would take a real moron to do something that idiotic. Doubly so to let someone record them saying it.

Are you seeing more cases but less deaths lately?  Johns Hopkins is listing almost 1000 deaths in the US Friday..

Yes, in the United States daily deaths peaked in late April/early May at about 2500/day. New daily  cases dropped until June, then went through the roof, and have been consistently higher than they were when deaths peaked. Now we have about 33% more new daily cases than when deaths peaked, but less than half the daily deaths.

  4. It seems more likely what's changing is more people are taking actions to prevent the spread that also reduce the severity of infections when they do catch it. Wear a mask, less of the virus gets into your nose hole and you get a milder or asymptomatic case.

Which brings up my gripe to vent about. People who think mask mandates don't apply to them and businesses that encourage them. If you actually have a condition that prevents you from wearing a mask, you probably shouldn't be out in public right now. If you can pull an eight hour retail shift then you don't have a condition that prevents you from wearing a mask, idiot.

  5. I used a Logitech G600 for a while. It's their take on the MMO mouse like the Naga. I just programmed a few keys to do common tasks like open inventory and stuff. It works fine for walking if you remap the WASD keys, I don't know about driving. I switched back to a G502 because it's more comfortable and I like the scroll wheel better. It's chunkier than the G502. You didn't say which had your friend is using, like most mice the G600 is only going to be useful in the right hand.

Actually there is a way to do that using the FS viewer. You can increase the size of the cache beyond the 10GB limit but it basically requires the use of another computer to do it efficiently. You can increase it up to 1TB if you really wanted to doing it that other way.

Yeah, I tried that. I was hoping for a more modern and slightly less arcane solution.

From numbers I have seen, democrats and minorities had/have higher incidences of contracting Covid than conservatives in the USA.

It couldn't possibly be that more densely populated areas that were hit the earliest happen to be more democratic and minority than less densely populated rural areas. You don't get to count all those deaths in liberal New York City because most of them happened before the protests started.

We may have a worse death toll but not a worse case fatality rate per 100,000 population than many advanced countries..We're at like 2.8%.. We're lower than the European union which is at 4.7%..

With straight up deaths per 100,000 population, the only EU countries worse than the United States are Spain and Belgium.

But, in reality most of the content doesn't change every second, or even every hour, day, or  month.

I live in a mainland sim. Most content there has been the same for months, if not years. Yes, some has changed. I have wondered for years why SL servers don't have a way to flag changed content, so they know what needs to be redrawn and know that nothing else does. I've also wondered why locked content isn't flagged as unchanged. If these kinds of changes were made, it seems to me that the problem would be largely solved.

I think it would have to do with the cache being relatively small. If you don't go anywhere but that region, it shouldn't be a problem. With a maximum cache of 10GB, it seems like stuff is going to get cycled out of it pretty fast if you do much more than stand around.

I would very much like to be able to dedicate Fortnite or GTA V like amounts of storage to preload Second Life assets.

All it required was a simple disclaimer that the intended audience was U.S. only but we don't merit even that.

Maybe someone at Linden Lab thought that their almost entirely adult audience could figure that out without being told.

As far as I know, yes (and I found some comments which is what got me thinking ). Not all cards will run all resolutions.   And I also know that when you switch from the native resolution (the default for that particular computer) to another resolution it looks really bad -- at least to picky artist me.

I found a few folks trying to run a 2560 monitors with a 1980 screen notebook and it wouldn't work - the 2560 option wasn't available. Running my 30 = 31 inch monitor at 1980 is not a choice (for me).  I did find ONE notebook that was 1980 but apparently with the ability to run a 2560 external monitor but it had several "no go" things I wouldn't like so it was out. I can't believe there is only one == but maybe.

There's a link to a full specs PDF on the tech specs section of the Lenovos Bree linked to, and the ones I looked at all indicated they were capable of driving external monitors at resolutions higher than 2560x1440. I don't use external monitors with laptops very often, but as long as I'm not trying to mirror the laptop's display, the laptop will usually let me use anything the monitor is capable of.

Looks like the Lenovos while that have some good specs in there are 1920 resolution and that looks horrible on my monitor :D.   I "think" I can do what I want to do but as typically happens I usually want something "rare" ^^.  But lots to think about. If someone knows of a  2560 x 1440 please let me know. Thanks.

The laptop’s screen doesn’t make a difference if you’re using an external monitor, does it?
