No they are not, but no one is saying that they are. The officers involved in the death of George Floyd have been arrested and charged with crimes. Everyone keeps talking about equal justice, but justice is being served. The Constitution does not guarantee that crimes will not occur, it guarantees that those crimes will be punished. This is happening, there is no need for protests, what happened is not OK and will be dealt with accordingly. If the officers were able to get away with it there would be an injustice worth protesting, but this simply is not the case.

The Minneapolis police arrested a CNN camera crew covering the protests before they arrested Derek Chauvin and he was only arrested after days of protests. I think that says what anyone needs to know about how cops are held to account.

America (and the world) is in the middle of a fricken pandemic.  Over 108,000 Americans have DIED from this virus.  Elderly people, young people, vulnerable people - black, white, hispanic, asian, gay, straight... it doesn't discriminate.  108,000 lives that mattered!!!  Over 1000 Americans died from it on June 2nd and there have been nearly 9,000 new American cases reported.  (Figures found by googling US Corona stats)

How many of them didn't need to die?  How many would still be here if the need for a haircut wasn't more important than staying inside to prevent the spread of that virus?  If the need to wear a mask didn't override the entitlement of people who thought themselves in the "it won't kill me" catagory?  How many of them were infected by those entitled, selfish and thoughtless people and lost their lives as a result?  It is disgusting that the so-called most developed country in the world doesn't give a hoot about their people and is letting stupid win.

So how about standing up for the 108,000 people who have lost their lives, cos they matter too.

Or is it not "trendy" and "virtual signally" enough?

    ALL lives matter.

In case I didn't make my point yesterday about "all lives matter" being a garbage phrase no one should use anymore clear enough, there you go.

A cop has done wrong, either through racism or lack of training, and has been arrested for his action. He will certainly do jail time and the rest of his life is effectively over.

Four cops, not one. Three of whom are still walking free today. It is also far from certain he will do jail time. The American justice system has a track record of not convicting cops for brutal crimes. This is hardly an isolated incident. It's the latest in a long string of them that are a symptom of a broken society.

Finally. They did protest peacefully at first. more peacefully then the  armed, white protestors who wanted haircuts  only  months ago,

Look what it got them,  More brutalism,  more people being rendered dead or disabled. Even news crews are being fired upon.

This has me curious, I wonder how many of the police at those haircut protests felt the need to tape over their badge numbers before going to work.

Are you speaking of the GROUP All Lives Matter or the thought that all lives matter? There is a difference. I'm assuming a typo in your reply, that it should be "It did not come from good intentions" since you said "downplaying." I believe all lives matter. I am not downplaying that black lives matter. That would be a fallacious argument. I'm not doing that. I don't think everyone who says all lives matter is.

It is insulting my intelligence to state or imply that I don't "get" that SOME people use ALM as a way to undermine.

I mean the phrase and hashtag all lives matter were invented to downplay black lives matter. It was started in bad faith and comes with too much baggage to serve any positive purpose now. Anyone using it innocently should stop.

I'm all about white privilege. I own it, and can't avoid or renounce it. Indeed, I'm not ashamed of it -- for better or worse, it's who I am. Nor do I want to lose it. Rather, I want others to share it, so that it, in fact, ceases to be "privilege" at all.

It's more the privilege of being able to do nothing and feel good about it I was thinking of.

But, yeah, there are also undoubtedly many who are committing acts of violence in support of BLM. When a system has brutally oppressed and dehumanized a community for 400 years, it is, as LBJ observed in your citation, hardly surprising that the anger spills over into acts of violence. I think history explains such violence; whether it justifies it, I'll leave to someone better versed in ethics than I to determine.

Every July 4th we celebrate our own revolution over the taxes on tea being too damn high. We have absolutely no problem justifying that. But violence born out of centuries of systematic racism and oppression? Yeah, that's a bit iffy. What would MLK say? Now go home, and if you behave exceptionally well for another sixty years, maybe we'll think about letting that boot off your neck just a little bit more.

Maybe it's me, but it seems counter intuitive to promote treating everyone equally by focusing on what makes them different.

All lives matter! How can we pretend to treat everyone equally if we acknowledge the fact that we very much do not treat some people equally?

  7. I support your struggle from here in cartoon land seems a whole lot like apex white privilege.

Don't fall for that garbage about Antifa from the idiot king. If it was true he'd have done it three years ago. It's a cynical ploy to make the passive racists not feel guilty about dismissing centuries of being awful to other human beings. Protests over people being murdered with impunity turned violent ?!? Why I never! *clutches pearls* what would MLK say?

"What did you expect? I don't know why we're so surprised. When you put your foot on a man's neck and hold him down for three hundred years, and then you let him up, what's he going to do? He's going to knock your block off." -LBJ

If this is the kind of thing it takes for us to finally treat our fellow Americans like our fellow Americans, then so be it.

    B) go for Nvidia cards if you also utilize anything that uses opengl....like SL for example. The problem is that AMD's drivers for opengl are not performing as they should be and mostly underperform compared to Nvidia. Unless AMD increases the opengl support OR SL switches to vulkan, you can expect a poor performance.

I'd go with nVidia as well, but AMD has really improved since the release of the 2020 edition drivers. With the last update I finally feel like my RX550 wasn't a complete waste of money.

Having no medical treatment for five months is what's insane.

Get off your damn computer and go to the doctor. I have never blocked anyone on an internet forum before, but that's changing tonight. I don't know if you're serious and just out of your mind, or you're trolling. If you're serious, you have no business lollygagging around on internet forums instead of getting off your ass and going to a doctor. I refuse to help enable that behavior by engaging with you anymore. Go see a doctor now. If you're a troll, well, that should be self explanatory.

Until someone tells me you've either gone to a doctor on your own accord or a family member has forced you to go, goodbye.

We cannot jeopardize our health to provide birth control to Third World countries.   American lives are meaningful too.  And, I am pro choice but my health comes first.  Five months sick.  Five months sick.  I think I'll write a song called "Five Months Sick" but it may change to six months pretty soon.  I've had no medical treatment period.

Do us all a favor and read that out loud to yourself and see if you think it sounds sane. I think I can assure you no one reading it does.

I have faith: America has been, for all of its troubles and mistakes, a general force for good in the world. I think most Americans want it to be again.

I see you came here from an alternate reality similar to the one I was in until about five years ago. I would very much like to go back.

And frankly, the more you demonstrate, by way of removal from international agencies such as WHO, that you don't much care about us, the less we're going to worry about you.

You'd better worry about us a lot more. I'm concerned The Sun King might not die of COVID-19, or enough of his worshipers will vape themselves to death with bleach between now and November and we might get stuck with four more years of the idiot.

It doesn't matter Lyssa.  I and much of California and others were sick weeks before the WHO declared anything.  So, why should I care?  Do you want me to give those dates to a lawyer or something?  I'm sure lawyers already know (sarcasm).

What's the date of your positive COVID-19 test you're going to provide your attorney?

  14. 55 minutes ago, FairreLilette said:

A fact to you, but otherwise no.  If you want to pay for this WHO thing, you pay for it as that is about all I have to say about it.  I was already sick before the date WHO announced anything.  I think I should sue them, not pay them.

Indisputable facts that can be looked up by anyone. They were all widely reported. Can you do that or shall I get the receipts for you?

This is, imo, silly Lyssa.  You all seem to want to blame everything on Trump insteed of opening your eyes to the truth especially when Trump doesn't even have the power you and other Trump haters seem to assign him.

Do you understand the difference between Trump and a doctor?  Or you just trust the media only?

What did I say that was wrong? Everything I said is an indisputable fact. Yes, I do understand the difference between Trump and a doctor. One of them is the president of the United States, the other is not.

Confused if the graphics box above is a suggestion as those numbers would drag down my new laptop. If you're moving around I'd go basic shader and uncheck atmo and ambi shaders, max complex at 20k unless you need to see a person, 1 max avatar vs 16. Uncheck anis filtering and particles can go higher. If you are in a place for a while , you can drop draw and see how much more settings you can slide up into.

    K, here's some more explanation.

Ambient occlusion doesn't matter if ALM is off, so checked or unchecked makes no difference. I leave atmospheric shaders on because I consider them essential. They make a tremendous visual difference for minimal if any performance loss. Anisotropic filtering, in my experience, is practically free and particles are not, but YMMV, feel free to see if that trade off works on your hardware.

Max complexity and max avatars, yeah, these can be run down on slow computers. I don't like to because that uglifies everything. But running them down will definitely help. I think I'd prefer Firestorm's show friends only over bottoming out the sliders and populating the world with jellydolls though.
