  1. In my dealings with broken computers, SSDs are exponentially more reliable than mechanical drives. It’s not even close.
  2. I doubt any integrated graphics solution will be better than that in SL.
  3. It's a set of about 35 presets to change your voice. You can preview them without a premium account in the viewer under the Communicate menu. Record a clip of your voice and play it back through the morphs. There are sets of presets for feminine, masculine, techie, scary and tiny. IMO the only potentially useful ones are scary and tiny. I think the gender morphs just sound weird and the lack of any adjustment really limits their utility. Techie seems to be labspeak for lo-fi. Someone really missed the boat on that pack. I don't think they're great overall, and the ones that are good have really niche use cases.
  4. 140C is impossible. The system will shut down before it gets anywhere close to that.
  5. I only hate half the stuff from Redmond. I would already be running Windows 11, but Microsoft doesn't want me to. So it's kinda on them this time.
  6. Don’t get anything with ddr3 or ddr4 memory. A GT520 is garbage, you don’t want any part of that.
  7. macOS is what Linux wants to be when it grows up.
  8. Bill Gates and the NWO developed nanoprobes and a pandemic to give them an excuse to use them so they could track a bunch of yahoos who don’t know how magnets works. Sounds legit.
  9. I'm not even going to waste my time running the PC health check. I know none of my desktops will run it and I don't care. As long as the software I want to use runs on Windows 10 I'll run Windows 10. I'm not turning perfectly good computers into e-waste for an OS with no compelling upgrades. Oooh, we put the start menu in the middle and it has Teams! I hate Teams.
  10. You can run 32-bit Firestorm on a 64-bit system, but I'd expect it to crash more, not less. "The GT730" isn't really a thing, it's one of those names Nvidia unhelpfully gave to several different video cards. Looking at the driver you're running (391.35) you either have one of the older, crappier cards or your video drivers have not been updated in 3 years (seems unlikely). On the bright side, unless there's a cat stuck in your PC, it's probably not overheating. A couple things I'd try I didn't see mentioned, first is go to https://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-us and get the latest drivers for the GT730. The worst thing that will happen is they won't install if you have the old version of the GT730. Best case, you get much newer drivers which may solve your problems. The second thing is run a hardware scan of your hard drive and memory. Dunno how old the drive on your PC is, but they do wear out and if it's as old as the CPU, it may be time to replace it. Especially if it's a mechanical drive. Every PC should have an SSD now.
  11. Never. If LL offered an option to disable banlines when no member of the group was present, I’d use it. Because IDGAF when I’m not there. It might end up being the same as a zero second security orb when someone logged back in, but them’s the breaks. in my case I’m not too concerned about the banlines interfering with anyone’s day. I have two parcels, neither is on a Linden right of way. One is the only occupied parcel in the whole region, so if someone gets hung up in the banlines there, they kinda had it coming.
  12. I don't know or care about other people's reasons, but for me it's not about ownership it's about privacy. When I'm at home in SL I don't want to be pestered by uninvited guests dropping in uninvited. I don't care why they want to come in, I don't want to talk to them. I don't want to explain why I don't want to talk to them and I really don't want to listen to them try to explain how much I should want to talk to them.
  13. The AMD Adrenaline software won't detect SL as a game, so manually adding a gaming profile for it may help. In graphics settings, turn shadows to none, and water reflections to none (opaque).
  14. You already have one. Use the keyboard from your desktop on your MacBook.
  15. Just use the last updates that are available. They should work. Assuming it’s not like a Radeon HD2600 or something even older. If the MacBook will turn on, you can use most any USB keyboard by plugging it into the USB port.
  16. Home Depot, in the Halloween section next to the horse skeletons. Probably.
