  1. I pay more in tier and own a bunch of land that I offer as B&B rentals without any expectation of return. I like adding to mainland because it's fun, peaceful, and creates a beautiful experience for all...nothing more. I think it's all about how folks choose to spend their money and time in SL, which is not up to anyone outside of that to decide, judge, rationalize, or otherwise. Running the numbers on someone else's property is interesting to me.
  2. I offer landscaped, decorated spaces on mainland with amenities and travel opportunities with AscendBnB: https://ascendbnb.live . If you find a home to love, I'm also open to land sales. Hope you find what you're looking for on mainland- if you let me know which continent, I can also point to other beautiful spots to find.
  3. I love 3 with 5- the subtle blue grey in the herringbone pattern vibes with the cabinet well. Also provides a good neutral backdrop for your other spaces to flow into the kitchen.
  4. Super useful- thanks for bringing this one back! Interesting to see the wide range of boats that folks use. I figured that the stilts were set up for small watercraft! I mostly use my Bandit SRV210 through those waters (I live in Plage Marsouin and feel so lucky to have landed there for all the sailing possibilities), although my Bandit 460AK works well too (but does not handle as well in tight turns for me 😅).
  5. Wow! If they did that today, I'd purchase a 'lifetime account' in a heartbeat, event at more than $159. What price do you think would be fair?
  6. Hey there! I create 'bed and breakfast' (B&B, like Airbnb irl- my site build is also inspired by it: https://ascendbnb.live) spots around mainland- typically they're fully furnished and attractive for short stays on mainland roads, waterways, and trails, with all the amenities you'd need to live (with minimal prims to add your touches) and travel. Sorta like a self-service hotel or timeshare- I live in the homes myself first and make them cozy, then offer them for others to get cozy in as well. ;D It's def not a new concept (fully furnished rentals), but for the 'bed and breakfast' aspect, along with comfy accommodations I offer info about the area, gifts to use for travel, and even navigation huds to see the attractions that the space is centered around. It's a passion of mine to spread the joy of mainland living to all and I'm honored to share my homes with the community in this way. ♥
  7. There's a whole community available for you and your roleplay group to live in and love! Accessible to a bus station, playground, shopping area, day spa, cat cafe, parks, a farmer's market, and Route 11 in West Corsica. Fully-featured, well designed homes start at $350/week- stop by today! There's so much to discover at Magellan's Landing: Magellan’s Landing Community – AscendBnB
  8. I just found a cabin tucked away after leaving a fantasy home and I did it up in my minimalist vibes. I have 4 prims left. 😍 I used a few add-ons for the exterior, and I think it really added to the build. Here's the sunroom: I really like the extra space to spread out. The door is opposite the pic- we'll go into the living room next: I was going for airy and chill- a respite in the woods. This is the Grandview model. I'm not a clutter person, so I wanted my kitchen to flow in a way that made it full and functional. On to the dining room: This is my fav table- I've used it in a lot of my builds, including Little Kenya Restaurant. I'm a Vordun Museum patron and like to keep a lot of Monet pieces around- they always feel so serene. Heading upstairs: I wanted to keep the same general colors going- it looks really cute to see the cabinets upstairs vibe with the ones in the kitchen. To the left, I built a bathroom: Reached my pic limit, but in all a chill spot. It's close to Miller's Wash and the beautiful waterways- I love riding my horse there. Love to see your gorgeous homes- thanks for letting me share mine.
  9. Love seeing all the communities being shared- I can't wait to stop by some that are new to me! I have a rental community, Magellan's Landing, on Route 11 in West Corsica. It features a shopping center with a day spa, intimate hookah lounge, rage room, and more. It also includes Bullseye (similar to a red and white store we all frequent in the US), with Xeolife and DFS compatible goods, a hotel, community center, and choice of homes within and along the community grounds. There's also a bus station in the neighborhood with rides around West Corsica, neighborhood playground, and many adjoining amenities as you travel Route 11. It's open right now to bring a whole roleplay group to experience and love the space, so be sure to stop by! Visit Magellan's Landing: Magellan’s Landing Community – AscendBnB I also have a few spots within the lively Corsica South Coast area, with a community that promotes travel, art, and music. At the vineyards space (fully furnished B&B), you can tend to a vineyard, visit a private waterfall, ride a horse to Emynaid Harbor, visit Eatonville Museum across from the property, and travel the Circuit la Corse via road access. The space is open right now and is my favorite place to stay. Check out Soulful Vineyards: Calming Vineyards Visit – AscendBnB I have many more spaces within and around established communities on mainland and invite you to check them out here: AscendBnB – mainland experiences. They're all on public roadways, waterways, or trails and allow you to have a 'home base' to start from as you explore and love mainland!
  10. Surprised no one mentioned it yet, but my fav hands down is Corsica. It has a beautiful, peaceful gateway to the Blake Sea, SO many resident-created attractions, is easily navigable (except the little part that -does not- connect West Corsica to the Circuit la Corse), and the investment across the two parts of the continent (Central and West Corsica) is amazing. Circuit la Corse is my fav road to drive along, Lusca is my fav sim across the continents (with the Moorcroft Community sims in Sansara a close second), and I have a -lot- of spaces there (including Little Kenya Restaurant). I love adding little things along the Circuit to find and enjoy.
  11. Yes! I still own Ascension Park and Glamping Resort, in Fucosa next door:
  12. I own a bunch of B&B homes on mainland that you're welcome to browse: https://ascendbnb.live. The ones that I reside in most frequently are my hilltop home in the Old Lands in Hooper, near the Bay of Space Pigs. It's my fav land, with some of my fav neighbors: My very first Belli home in the Shady Corners Retirement Community- the moles blessed me with a beautiful waterfall and camper area behind my home after watching for them to develop for months: My sailing retreat in Myrtle off the Bay of Space Pigs- such a beautiful, peaceful place to sail through: And my winter home right on the ONSR line near Smither's Bluff: Most of these are my personal homes that I bounce to when the mood strikes (the last one is a B&B available to rent). I love being able to live and travel from different parts of the mainland to explore the areas around me and discover new faves. Thanks for creating an opportunity for us to share- I love seeing how everyone adds to their world!
  13. I really love that idea BJoy- there's a bunch of roads that are public access that already exist in places like Satori and Heterocera. And thanks so much for the education on finding good parcels- I practice a lot of those tips as well and try to find the trifecta of 'on a road, near/on accessible water, with residents who also invested in the area'. I find them most times by driving around and seeing an area that has a clear resident investment (Like my fav sim Lusca in Corsica), then looking for accessible land around. It's dope to see more folks interested in building up mainland and finding ways to work with the moles to create public spaces for the benefit of all! Sending thanks to Bjoy, Feorie, and others doing the work of creating a better experience on mainland for all to enjoy.
  14. I like this idea, but also believe in the power of community. There has been a renaissance of new energy on mainland that has produced some of the most beautiful, 'blink and you'd forget you're on mainland' builds that I've ever seen. On rides around the public roads and airways, I am always in awe at the creativity expressed amid 'weird builds', that exist concurrently in a way that's uniquely SL. I'd throw another idea into the mix- what if groups like Heterocera Citizens, Corsica South Coasters, and the Second Life Forestry Service (all resident-run communities within mainland) could be allotted an amount of abandoned land in their covered areas to preserve the mainland? In this way, folks who are already interested in mainland preservation (I'm a member of MANY such communities, as I own mainland across almost all continents) can continue to build public spaces for the benefit of mainland, just as our beautiful moles do. This would inspire creativity, cooperation, and a shared sense of ownership and preservation across the continents that may further inspire the renaissance happening. What do you think?
  15. I'm interested! I have a number of safe spaces to stop by while traveling the SL mainland. HMU inworld at Soull Starlight.

  20. I agree with Sylvia. I think the 'barons' are those who buy up land without concern of the surrounding land/community, with the sole intention of reselling at the highest profit they can muster. Far more nefarious than landowners, who might have the same amount of land holdings as a baron but works with/in communities to create and share.
  21. Abnor, I appreciate the response and the knowledge about the 'why', but I totally agree with Lucia here. I'd not be motivated to buy a strip of land that obviously bothered my neighbors in that way, and if I did acquire it, the very first thing I'd do was to level it and try to match the surroundings to respect my neighbor's space. It would definitely be prim land to a potential buyer, and it doesn't promote community in the way this is being currently done. I agree, Mollymews. That would inspire the spirits of cooperation and land beautification for the landowners or potential buyers. It's about promoting community and working together to create beautiful/unique/interesting spaces. The thing that I still have a question about however, is why it's being done just in that area. If this was a common practice, I would have seen so many more pieces of abandoned land leveled in the same way. I've seen communities that cut deep into the land, where neighboring abandoned land is not stories higher than the community.
  22. Thanks for your response! Yes, the parcel that you put in a ticket for is already up for auction, but the land (reclaimed and owned fully by the Lindens) was raised before that. If they're reworking the land, why not ping the landowners on either side first to give them an opportunity to purchase before disrupting their land? It just feels...weird, and when I've put tickets in to reclaim some of the abandoned land, this is not mentioned...it just gets sold to me quickly. And I've not seen it anywhere else. I appreciate your insight! It doesn't seem that it's being reverted, more that the Lindens find the land and raise it suddenly. I have a museum in the area that had a thin strip of abandoned land between the two parcels which were obviously owned and maintained, and the land there was raised about two weeks after it was abandoned and reabsorbed by LL. I repurchased it, but there was no explanation as to why they did that.
  23. I'm a landowner around the former Campbell Coast area in Corsica who deeply enjoyed and continue to thrive in the community space that we collectively built and maintained. As the community has evolved, I've noticed that the reclaimed abandoned land that existed between our parcels for aesthetics have been systemically raised high, disrupting the current land owner's parcels. Here's a few examples: I've not seen deliberately disrupted abandoned land done this way in any other continent that I own land on (I own a full region of mainland across several continents, but have the most land in Corsica), where abandoned land might sit undisturbed for years. While I have the ability to repurchase and repair the land that's been lifted (and am not looking for a solution to fix), I'd like to find out why this is being done, and specifically on Corsica and in this area. If anyone else has seen this on different continents, I'd love to learn more!
  24. Loved this video- I got to catch the premiere and absolutely enjoyed learning more about Dutchie! I saw a couple of my spots in the video as well- thanks for traveling the Circuit. Def a new subscriber- thank you for everything you do to promote fun and travel around the mainland.
