  1. Hi and thank you all for the most helpful responses Firstly yes its the 'Origin' bone on the Avastar skeleton I meant. When that didn't upload as a turn I used the 'COG' bone and that does work. I guess just as using pelvis would have. I didn't know that COG translated to pelvis but good to know now, thanks for that I had Ease In and Ease Out set to zero and Loop In and Loop Out also set to zero. That seems to hold it in position at the end while the second animation is started. So with all of that in mind I am now able to start the second animation from the end of the first using the COG/Pelvis rotation and eliminating the 'snap' back YAYY !!! šŸ˜„ I do have some playing around as was mentioned to make it align as best I can but that removes my block so thanks again all for the help :)) Leninah
  2. Hi, I am new to animation and am learning with Blender 2.83 and Avastar 2.81. I am working on a dance animation and am trying to make a second animation (separate .anim file) start from the avatar rotation the first finishes. So if the first animation starts with the avatar facing North and turns it left so it's facing West I want the second animation to start with the avatar facing West. I am using 'COG' rotation to make the turn. I tried rotating 'Origin' but whilst that turned it in Blender's playback it did nothing to the exported animation loaded into SL. Where I'm thwarted is even if I set Loop In and Loop Out to the end frame of the first animation, whilst that does hold the rotation at the end, when you stop the first animation or start the second animation it snaps back to the original rotation. Is there any way to 'continue' animating from a set of positions where a previous animation file left off? Thanks Leninah
  3. I have been looking quite a lot, maybe its an issue because even the old Linden homes do set a high standard for random chunks of mainland to be compared against. They are designed and built for the purpose, and whist they may have their issues, I still think they represent the far better option. The quibble we've been debating here is purely availability. OK my feelings on this are very much in the same vein as others who've said whilst some have found ways to get themselves to the front of the line not everyone can do that. I'm not in the SL time zone and suspect (suspect because I am not certain but would like to find out) they're being announced in the dead of my night and are all taken before I wake up. Now please, I am not 'blaming' LL for time and the fact the earth goes around the sun, just highlighting what may seem easy for some isn't for everyone and that maybe that could be taken into account? Again 'constructive suggestion' as opposed to 'complaint' maybe stagger the next batch so that some are released at a time non US citizens are awake? Or provide pre-notification say 48hrs in advance? I admit I don't know the times they are released so if anyone can inform me without scathing personal assault I'd be grateful to find out? Also I agree with Damian I don't think I should have do this but I will look back on what people have said about setting up alerts, and if I can't work that out may come back with questions on how to.
  4. A more convincing case for euthanasia I've yet to see!
  5. P.S. Thanks for taking the time to look those out and post them for me though, I did look at them both. The first wasn't too bad just surroundings aren't as good as a Linden home, and the second is a water plot and not what I'd call 'beach plot' or again anywhere close to a Linden home, but that's not to criticize, I appreciate the attempt to help
  6. I have put a lot of effort into finding a reasonable use for my Linden home/free tier benefit, your 'suspicion' isn't accurate there. The debate about whether I'm 'blaming' or trying to have a critical but constructive debate is circular and pretty tired now. Anyway, I had thought we'd killed this off as it wasn't doing anything constructive anymore.
  7. OK I really am in agreement this needs to stop, and this is getting off-topic I think but as this post doesn't contain anything insulting ā€¦. No I didn't say I was in IT and this is in no way critical of contractors. Whether salaried or under contract or a third party supplier the choice of contracting for work as Fixed price or T&M is what I was referring to. I have worked in procurement for government departments which is the context of where this is coming from. I agree contractors are often just as good if not better than salaried workers and I wasn't suggesting otherwise just that Fixed price allows for the supplier to respond the best was they can, often more creatively to a specification for work rather than by the hour. It may not be completely relevant to however LL are engaging the 'moles' I really don't know, I was simply making the observation it is sometimes the cause of overrun and delay.
  8. Not exactly, and there was no implication its a standard maxim that if you pay a supplier for the finished product to an agreed specification of quality and allow them to use the time and resources and their experience and skills as they wish, that is usually better value, quality and predictability than paying them for just the time it takes to complete the work. I'm not sure that equates to 'piecework'?
  9. I implied nothing I made a comment about the pros and cons of T&M vs Fixed price which was relevant to the conversation. Any implications didn't come from me. I avoid insults generally though sometimes that does seem harder to do than others.
  10. How do you complain about complaining without complaining? I asked a question about dates for the new homes, and the price rise. That seemed to provoke an angry backlash which still bewilders me. Anyway I got my answer and as far as I'm concerned that is that. If the follow up name calling could stop that would be great.
  11. I'm not sure there's anything I can say you won't misconstrue in a bad light, however no I didn't mean it ironically nor did I direct it at the 'moles' or anyone personal. It's a general comment on the pros and cons of engaging contract work on either a T&M (Time & Materials or Hourly in this case) or Fixed Price. The saying goes 'Pay fixed price they do the work, pay T&M they do the hours' Its a general comment, not as you're falsely repeating it a slur of any kind on anyone. That's more your game than mine.
  12. @Crim I think this is one of the main constructive reasons forums exist, to share experiences, knowledge and information. Your experience of mainland parcels seems very different from mine. I have looked for a long time for mainland parcels that shared the defining characteristics of Linden homes i.e. 1) Reasonably priced (given Linden homes are free to purchase) 2) In a nice environment 3) Not overcrowded 4) Performant If you are finding these and I am not I would ask you where I should be looking? I have been all over the grid and I just donā€™t see them. If anyone can share some helpful advice on locations, Iā€™d feel this was productive and helpful. I have tried keeping an eye on existing development but again Iā€™m probably looking in the wrong area, Iā€™ve been watching this area ā€˜Protected Land, SSPE94 (167, 10, 40) ā€“ Moderateā€™ for ages and it doesnā€™t change. A few incomplete roads and nothing else for months. I have heard others say theyā€™ve seen activity, I just canā€™t find where. Oh and no I am not ā€œthe type to move into a crowded neigborhood and then complain about how many others there are aroundā€ If I were, Iā€™d have already done that and be ā€˜complainingā€™ about that not trying to avoid it wouldnā€™t I? Iā€™m sure SL16B is a bigger issue and thereā€™s probably another thread for that, this one is ā€˜New Homes, New priceā€™ @Angie Really? Hourly rate not fixed price? Well maybe that sheds some light on why completion is unpredictable and takes so long! šŸ˜‰
  13. Just when you though she was flamed to death ā€¦...
  14. Well I wasnā€™t asking for one of ā€˜yourā€™ parcels, just for you to prove your claim that it was no trouble to find equivalent use in mainland for the 1,024 sqm tier. Iā€™m not at all surprised you decline šŸ˜Š Iā€™m not ā€˜complainingā€™ either Iā€™m asking for a date when these will be available. Perfectly reasonable thing to do. I am paying the subscription fee too, but I donā€™t see why asking for an idea when the new homes will be available for all that want them will be is such sacrilege to so many! I hear Maggie and realize the reality of this situation is its not going to change, the new homes will arrive if and when LL get around to it, and nothing is really going to expedite that. That's not good, its pretty poor to be honest, but that doesn't mean we aren't entitled to point that out.
  15. Hi Sylvia, I do feel ā€˜aggrievedā€™ because I am feeling this is unfair. However if you have no trouble finding parcels in any way equivalent to a Linden home in terms of environment, performance, population for a reasonable, letā€™s say under L$5k purchase price (Linden homes being free remember) with no rental charges, please share the location and I will concede your point that it is possible to find equivalent use for the 1,024 sqm tier and Iā€™ll do exactly that and buy it? I donā€™t want some fanciful notion of perfection I just want a more practical prim allowance on my Linden home, as offered by the new homes so that would do for me.
  16. Caption "oooooh someone told me there were new Linden homes around this coke bottle are they there? ā€¦ā€¦. OMG what are all those cats looking at me like that for !"
  17. @Raspberry Thanks for your ideas there I will look into those The big issue for me is the 175 prim limit in a single home. Are you saying that I could take a 512k linden home buy a 512k parcel of mainland, group them and have the 351 prim allowance available to use on the Linden home? If so, that is interesting because I didnā€™t think aggregating prim allowances worked across SIMs? I understand the fear in announcing any date, trust me Iā€™m in the UK and weā€™ve seen that with BREXIT! However not having any date or idea is worse my opinion than being kept in the dark. Had our government said "ok we're leaving the EU we're gonna work on that not sure when and can't tell you when cause its a bit complicated" There would have been revolution here! Iā€™d rather someone was open and honest and said ā€œlook weā€™re going for this much on this date we may not make it but if we donā€™t weā€™ll tell you the new targetā€ That would be for me way better than having no clue.
  18. @Sylvia Just another observation about the eagerness to equate the value of the tier allowance equally between using it on a Linden home and to buy land. If I go to buy land using that 1,024 sqm tier itā€™s going to be mainland. To be blunt, current available mainland sucks big time. Itā€™s usually crowded, lags, is expensive to purchase (prices for smaller parcels rocketed when the allowance was increased) and the surroundings usually are pretty dire. Nothing at all like the current Linden homes, either old or new, or even in development new themed ones Iā€™m sure. They are free to purchase, usually uncrowded, low lag, and in very pleasant surroundings. So that just isnā€™t a fair comparison to make. If you have a premium account taking the Linden home to use the free tier is a way better option ā€¦ if you can that is.
  19. @Ananoelle The new Linden Home is advertised and offered as a tangible benefit of the current Premium membership weā€™re paying for, the Linden Homes, not just the tier, the homes. If you read the threads from Patch you can see its accepted by LL that these are late and theyā€™re working hard to provide what they promised and are currently failing to deliver. So, no they are not providing what we are paying for currently, not to all of us anyway. The homes that are available are not the new ones they are the old ones limited to 512sqm and 175 prims so no itā€™s not a ā€˜choiceā€™ that is being made available to me presently though I still have to pay for it. As I keep saying if we had an expectation of a date when this might be resolved that would be something to work with, but no, nothing other than ā€˜soonā€™. @Kiramanell What would I do? Iā€™d give a date when given the limitations of my resources and the time to do it ā€˜properlyā€™ all pretty and nice and beautiful, observing the laws of diminishing returns, I would expect (expect not guarantee even) be able to meet the generated demand is what Iā€™d do. @Fox OK point taken let me re-phrase ā€˜double prim homesā€™ to ā€˜Linden homes that can accommodate twice as many prims as the current Linden homes because they come on 1024 sqm parcels which currently they do notā€™
  20. Hi Fox, The new Linden Homes come with 351 prims because its 1,024 sqm of free tier. If you can get one, which is what this debate is about.
  21. Hi Ananoelle, I heard about them from a friend who managed to get one. I think weā€™ve talked about quality and this falls into two camps. Those that believe itā€™s fine to wait endlessly for something with no idea when it may become available and be quite happy to pay for it meanwhile not having it as they wait indefinitely, so long as when it finally does arrive it is beautiful and pretty. The other camp doesnā€™t share that view completely, they think if weā€™re paying for it and its good enough as it is (not a sardine can btw they are lovely as they are) GIVE IT TO ME NOW or at least tell me when I can get it! My opinion is the former of these is a little soft on the provider. I do seem to be in the minority here though, but hey ho that doesnā€™t make my point of view invalid or deserving of ridicule šŸ˜Š
  22. @Luna Thank you for clarifying that and not judging me as ā€˜that badā€™ ā€¦. your honour! I am most certainly criticizing LL and make no apologies for it. Two months after the new double prim homes were offered and they are still woefully under-supplied and there is no date whatsoever for when they may be available. That remains the fact however many diversions, rabbit holes and obsequious tirades this debate goes down. I can understand that it IS more difficult to put these together than maybe it should be. Even so its not beyond the realms of reasonable expectations for a target date to be provided is it? That at least would help us decide whether to wait or not? @Beth You shut up when YOU decide its time to stop speaking, not when ANYONE else tells you to. Too many people have fought and died for that right to give it up.
