  1. MOORCROFT is an equestrian community located in the East of Sansara continent. Over the last few months, more land was acquired, and more competitive events were established. In collaboration with the Bellisserian Embassy Sansara, we invite you to join us for a visit at Moorcroft to explore their village and the nearby scenery by horseback riding, followed by a tour around their eventing area to learn more about their diverse events. You will even be able to try out yourself in jumping and racing! Those who would like to experience the full immersion, are invited to start already at 11:30 am SLT for a bus lift from the Embassy Sansara to Moorcroft where we will meet up for the official start at 12pm (noon) SLT at the Moorcroft Feed & Seed Farm Supply. Don't forget to bring your BBB passports because Moorcroft has a stamp terminal now, too! You can either bring your own horse, or will be provided with a horse on location. Please remember to prepare a travel outfit with unnecessary scripts and attachments detached in order to avoid region crossing issues. Meeting Time & Location Optional Bus Tour starts promptly at 11:30am SLT @ Bellisserian Embassy Sansara Official Start Saturday, February 26, 12pm SLT @ Moorcroft Feed & Seed Farm Supply Tour Length: ~1,5 Hours Requirements & Hints None, however, it is highly recommended to strip down avatar complexity and scripts to avoid region crossing issues. We don't want you to end up being stuck at a region border 😁 You can always leave the tour earlier, or join at a later point. All you have to do for joining later, is to send me a message / TP request. The tour info HUD is available at the following locations: @ Bellisserian Embassy Sansara @ Blisston Village @ Corsica Tourist Center - CSC
  2. Friendly reminder We start the 2nd part of our event series around and for the Eatonville Living History Museum in just a few minutes. This event part is called "Finding Freedom". We will host a guided tour around the museum, followed by performances from spoken word artists. The event will be held at 2 time slots to cover both EU and US timezones. First is now at 11am SLT, the second is at 5pm SLT. We hope to see you there! Hosts: Soull Starlight & Yukiko Yeshto
  3. As February is Black History month, Soull Starlight and Yukiko Yeshto who are both residents at the south of Corsica, collaborated for an event around the Eatonville Living History Museum. The series of events include a docent tour and performance by spoken word artists at the Eatonville Living History Museum, a little fashion gallery at the Animal Sanctuary with some information provided about characteristic patterns and fabrics, and a formal banquet at Little Kenya Restaurant where attendants can learn more about the African dishes that were chosen for the virtual menu. The Eatonville Living History Museum is named after a fictional Black settlement town described in the book ‘Their Eyes Were Watching God’ by Zora Neale Hurston, and is an example of the self-sufficient towns established after the Civil War in the United States. The Little Kenya Animal Sanctuary is a peaceful, family friendly spot where residents can enjoy a variety of animals. It also includes an elegant dining area, slightly elevated above the grounds. At Little Kenya Restaurant, an editors’ pick in Second Life’s destination guide and just north of the Animal Sanctuary in the same region, you are treated to a full course Kenyan meal in a cozy, peaceful setting surrounded by wildlife typical of this part of the world. While Soull and Yukiko initiated and organized the event, the whole experience is actually a community effort supported by various people from different projects, such as the Corsica South Coasters, Sisters In SL (Aurora Mercury), and the Embassy of Corsica (Jack Vincent). EVENT SCHEDULE "International Africa" on Saturday, Februray 19, 11am and 2pm SLT Little Kenya Animal Sanctuary: http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Meewalh/198/18/28 Little Kenya Restaurant: http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Meewalh/178/53/28 "Finding Freedom" on Wednesday, Februray 23, 11am and 5pm SLT Eatonville Living History Museum: http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Durdane/104/9/51
  4. The best thing to start with is what you can actually handle, and what you enjoy to build. Rather start with easy and little things, and build up your way from there. Good luck!
  5. It is Mole Day at Bay City on February 6! I would go anyway so I thought, why not spicing it up with travelling to the venue, and invite people to join? So here we go: everyone who would like to join a little flight to Bay City Municipal Airport, and from there on the road to Bay City Fairgrounds, is invited to meet me at 10am SLT at our departure point at the Kremer Airfield 🥳 http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Kremer/180/140/21 I have easy-to-steer mini-copters and mini-coopers available, so you don't need to worry in case you don't have a vehicle yourself. The official Mole Day celebrations start at 11am SLT. If you cannot participate in the little trip, please feel free to teleport directly to the event venue here: http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/North Channel/105/128/29
  6. I often see full mainland regions abandoned. So I highly suggest to go around the continents and check them out. You can then send a ticket to LL to ask for it. If they didn't have any other plans for it, and if there is no one else sending a ticket for it, it should take only a few days until you can buy it. LL sells abandoned land usually for 1L$ per sqm. Good luck!
  7. There will be 2 guided tours during this weekend: Saturday at Noon (12pm SLT) and Sunday at 10am SLT. We will travel in parts of Bellisseria, by mini-copters, bus, train & more. Subject to alteration, depending on the actual number of participants. If you don't have your own vehicles, do not worry! We will make sure to organize a seat for you, and we are also prepared with easy-to-handle vehicles that you can use. Traveling in SL always comes with a few challenges, but that is part of the adventure! Most of all, we want to give you the opportunity to explore within a group, to socialize (and isn't an adventure that you survive the best way to bond?), and maybe to make some new friends! For those who have a BBB passport, you can collect in each tour 2 of the newest stamps; so 4 new stamps overall. Important: Please detach any unnecessary attachments and scripts to avoid region crossing issues. Meeting Point at Bellisseria Fairgrounds: http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Bellisseria Fairgrounds/163/240/24
  8. While scripts can cause "lag", a lot of those issues also come from too many high resolution textures on even the tiniest objects, and/or high poly items, and a few more things. If you experience "lag", it could as well be that you have been considerate enough to remove scripts where they aren't needed, but maybe are not aware that you rezzed out items that create issues. It is complex. If LL started to regulate that, we would probably end up with no more user-created content being allowed to be uploaded. Or, maybe only by approved professionals. Which would also take away from what makes SL so attractive. I fear, we have to accept "lag".
  9. I am surprised that you didn't recognize known names from the Sansara and other Mainland communities, nor realized that the number of Mainlanders and Bellisserians attending were equal. Are you sure you were at the same Sansara embassy opening? I am kidding, I know you were. I am also surprised that you claim that a bus tour wasn't attractive nor technically possible when 1) from ~35 people attending the opening, ~20 stayed to travel until the very end of the tour, and kept expressing how much they enjoyed it. Not only right after the tour, but days later. Including coverage on different blogs and various social media sites. Someone even streamed live on YouTube; and 2) when after we sorted ourselves, we finished the last 3/4 of the tour without further issues. Are you sure you were talking about the same bus tour like the rest of us? I am kidding again, I know you were. And why is a little group of travellers that important to you anyway? It was a little adventure for those who like exploring, and we all had lots of fun in the Snowlands, especially with the off-roading part. There was joy and laughter. Some said that the tour made them wanting to come back soon to explore more. Some made new friends. Isn't that something to be happy about? I am as well surprised that, since you have called yourself being from the "press", you make it way too obvious that, in general, you have huge gaps in your research of all actual facts on which you base your conclusions. I couldn't care less that I was part of your questionable claims, directly or between the lines, it's not even about me. If it were, I wouldn't have taken the time to react at all. But I react when I see someone continuously trying to attack the entire SL community, and when I can cleary see that it is in an unjust and inept way. It's not cool that your attempts are part of the problem why there are resentments at all between Mainlanders and Bellisserians, resident-only and "Moles-blessed" projects, non-profit and business-focused communities, etc etc. That's infelicitous, to put it mildly. I also don't understand the constant fingerpointing at LL and the Moles about Bellisseria. This part is only ~3 years old in comparison to ~18 years of SL as a whole. That's a ridiculously short time. If I look back into the historical timeline of SL, when which continent was built and how fast, and to what expenses in regard of infrastructure, landscaping, and more, then I really cannot wonder that not much happened "in a decade or more". Not even starting about the financial stability and human resources it needs to stem such a huge project. If I compare the size of Bellisseria to the whole lot of Mainland continents, then I also find it very logical to implement gained knowledge about the needs and wants of the SL community in such a comparatively small part first. People learn over time, and things evolve. What if Bellisseria is the first step of improving SL in general, and is maybe considered a sort of a "stress test" because they had already in mind right from the beginning on to collect data and experiences from Bellissiera in attempt to come back to Mainland and amend those parts in the future, too? We don't know for sure but it's not such an abstract idea. By all means, let them celebrate their Bellisseria achievements for a few years, it is part of SL, too. I rather wait patiently and support, than sulking in a corner and moaning about how unfair this or that was. The thing is, people will go to and/or stay where they feel welcome, and kindness is cultivated. Show the same kindness to LL and the Moles, even if they are currently not sprinkling glitter all over your personal favourite spots on the grid, and be prepared to welcome them back to Mainland once they are ready for it. And show the same kindness to everyone else, whether they live on Mainland, Bellisseria, Blake Sea, or any other part within SL. We all suffer enough from the stress with the pandemic world-wide already; I absolutely cannot approve of bringing such kind of negativism into SL on top. There is so much potential to leave a positive mark, so, please, let's celebrate the bright sides of life, and join forces to make SL a beautiful world to spend some time in.
  10. I think, that you didn't understand SL and how it works, or else this question would have never crossed your mind.
  11. Each time I go exploring on Mainland, and that happens often, I find new places. I would say that it started about half a year or even earlier ago that I could notice very visibly how mainland is receiving some love again; private home owners as well as people who offer something for the public. I notice also an increase of people putting an effort into offering additional infrastructure (I just did today's "Drivers Of SL" grid drive and passed by the 8z road which is offered by a resident), and just the last few days I had quite many talks with various community owners, and landholders of public places, who almost all told me that they have actually been tremendously expanding during the last months. Of course, as it is part of SL, things can always change overnight, and sometimes, long-time communities fall apart for various (often enough sad RL) reasons. Then there might be a very noticeable recession happening while people try to figure out how to move on. Changes happen, and sometimes something is gone for good, but then also I observe community members doing their best to preserve and to continue even if that means they had to take a step back first to build up with smaller holdings. I think that a lot of these things also have to do with personal perception. For me, it rather looks like the entire opposite. From my personal experiences, I would say that a lot seems to have to do with networking. Once you ran into a person who has the right connections, it kinda becomes a "self-runner". I myself happened to end up in that position where I am hardly able anymore to catch up fast enough to explore all those awesome communities and projects all around Mainland. There are just too many. Putting the option of living on a private estate a bit apart here and focusing on Bellisseria and Mainland, but in my opinion, both have similar audiences. For me, Bellisseria is an environment that allows people to experience community and living without the hassle of having to figure out how infrastructure or matching landscape could be implemented, or worrying about some of the downsides that may occur on mainland (such as ban lines). I would say that when LL says that the Linden Homes are "starter homes", one of the aims is to allow the residents there to put their focus on figuring out how living together can look like, and how a great neighbourship can be an awesome base for community-focused projects to be initiated. Whereas Mainland allows all that freedom to do "whatever" (within TOS, of course) right from the start but also comes with that big challenge of, for example, having to deal with neighbours who might appear to be rather community-hostile. However, it is their right to do so which is also one of the eligible perks of Mainland, but if you are a community-driven person, then - I agree - this can be very appalling if you have never experienced that it all can be handled in a different and positive manner as well, and might drive you to stay at Bellisseria, or move to a private estate. But let's also not forget that very interesting and even long-term communities and projects have their roots in that spirit of using this freedom that is possible at Mainland for the better of the whole SL community. In summary, I would say both Mainlanders and Bellisserians can benefit from each other. I also know more people who have land holdings on both, Mainland and Bellisseria, and some even additionally at private estates, than people who have land at one spot solely. Obviously, there is a high interest in experiencing all options offered. Maybe, it doesn't always matter where you live but how you live. It would be a shame if all that good potential of all these communities would be wasted when at the end of the day, everyone actually just wants the same: the freedom of being able to choose whatever fits personal interests best, in an overall huge SL community that offers something for everyone. Wishing everyone a splendid weekend, many good thoughts, and keep supporting all of SL community!
  12. @Marigold DevinAccording to LL's Machinima Policy, taking snapshots while we are on the official roads, and in a group situation should be totally fine. So I would say, yes, people would be allowed to take and post photos Hope you can make it, and if not this Wednesday, yes, there will be more tours you can join. So, no worries!
  13. MAINLAND TOUR is back and has joined forces for the next year with the BELLISSERIAN EMBASSY SANSARA, part of the BBB project that most know for its popular passports. While the original idea of hosted tours to explore interesting places around mainland remains, the tours will be expanded by also passing by at locations that offer a stamp to collect for BBB passport holders. The first tour of this joint venture will start with the official Opening Ceremony at the BELLISSERIAN EMBASSY SANSARA. We will then hop on the bus for a little tour to the Snowlands. Those who have joined the last tour at the Snowlands - which happened almost a year ago! - might remember the fun we had with off-roading. While it were jeeps at the time, it is now a bus that holds up to 24 passengers. I hope, you gonna love it! Meeting Time & Location Wednesday, January 19, 12:00pm SLT @ Bellisserian Embassy Sansara, Continent: Sansara Requirements & Hints None, however, it is highly recommended to strip down avatar complexity and scripts to avoid region crossing issues. We don't want you to end up being stuck at a region border 😁 Opening Ceremony takes ~10-15 minutes before we start the actual tour. You can always leave the tour earlier, or join at a later point. All you have to do for joining later, is to send me a message / TP request. The tour info HUD is available at the following locations: @ Bellisserian Embassy Sansara @ Blisston Village @ Corsica Tourist Center - CSC
  14. There were quite a few threads about that already. One of the more previous ones from what I remember was that one here linked BUT keep in mind, communities live from their residents, and things might have changed in the meantime. So I suggest to reach out to people personally in case of doubt, and ask them about the current state. If I remember correctly, that linked thread was about communities on Mainland. There are, of course, communities on private estates as well, including infrastructure/roads. It all depends on what exactly you are looking for. Good luck finding the right thing for you!
  15. This can happen when you are trying to rez a mesh item onto another mesh object. If that is the case, create a prim box, then rez your mesh item onto that one.
  16. You really should overthink the way how you configure this survey. You obviously didn't consider that you might also have participants who are in SL because they deal with all kinds of health issues, e.g. visual restrictions. So your "attention check" is not benefitting you at all. And if you share a link, make sure you don't mess it up with the point at the end of your sentence.
  17. That's actually not true. There are communities on mainland where different landholders collaborate and try to make their individual parcels blending in nicely with the others. Maybe you just didn't find those communities yet? And while some on mainland can indeed be annoying, I wonder, what holds people back from reaching out to their neighbours and ask if they wanted to collaborate? The times I made good experiences with that are more than the times a new neighbour didn't care.
  18. @Vixtee Lovely job! I liked what you did before already but now it got even a 1000 times better! I really enjoy all the additional references to winter that you came up with around the area (e.g the ice bar). You nailed the atmosphere of the magic of a christmas market at the plaza, in my opinion. I also saw quite a few spots where thoughts like "Oh yes, that would be a funny thing to do", or "Ahahaha, imagine this being used for an event" instantly crossed my mind. Yep, your place offers many options to enjoy SL, and once more, I wish you much success with it! If I didn't have my monthly budget maxed out already, I would definitely want to have a little snow house there. By the way, I now have a bus that can take quite a bunch of passengers. Guess I will come by for a tour once again soon
  19. @Feorie FrimonThat wasn't an offense at all, so I also didn't understand it as one 😉 I am not managing or owning the parcels, so I can't do anything about it. The person in charge is Winning Witte. I recommend to reach out inworld to him, he probably won't see it here since he is not a regular user in the forums.
  20. On a personal note to whom it may concern: sometimes, depending on various circumstances, decisions have to be made already before official information can be announced. That being said, before more rumours and assumptions are spread the next time a change is going on at Campbell Coast*), I highly recommend to reach out to the people in charge first before another guessing game is started in the forums. This is a thumb of rule that should be considered not only for this community, but for any kind of SL project. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________ And here is the official statement of the Campbell Coast*) team to put on some light on "What is happening to Campbell Coast?"*): *) Edit: The original title - as I quoted it before - as well as the start post included the name of the community, and the actual information about the concerned parcels. Just clarifying that before anyone assumes I would have shaken that from my sleeves out of nowhere. That is not the case.
  21. Had this happen just the other day. Someone rezzed a sky dome that was so huge that it spanned over the width of approximately 9 regions on Mainland. Blending milky ways, random falling stars, and luminous clouds. I would actually like to see the LL sky. So I contacted the owner of said massive sky dome, asking if they could please delete it. They reacted and promised to take care of it "in a moment". After hours, still nothing happened. I messaged them again. Me: "Could you please remove it now?" Person: "First time someone complains about a beautiful gift." Me: "If it ruins the experience of others, it's not really a beautiful gift." Person: "Yes, there are always people who can't see beauty."
  22. Welcome to the neighbourhood, @Feorie Frimon! Residential manager is Winning Witte
  23. I am also looking for one or more backup bus drivers! You can be as well an additional bus driver if there are less people joining the tour but you just want to drive passengers around. It is much fun! The bus can be driven by others, too, and is really easy to handle. Keysteering with WASD (or arrows+page up/down), and it also has a built-in cruise control which means you don't have to hold the key pressed all the time to make the bus driving at all. While I will make sure that you always have me in sight to follow easily, I have also a detailed route notecard ready to share as a backup. So in the worst case, you couldn't get lost in the maze of the Bellisseria road network. Last but not least, I can rez out the bus beforehand as well so you can test-drive it to get used to its handling.
