  1. it's not hard to do when mom leaves her purse where it is accessible even if she hides it under the bed or in her closet. No, I never took any cards. As for cash, I only took out what I had permission to get. Even dad's wallet was readily accessible when he would leave it on the dresser. It just wasn't as readily available since it would go into his pocket as soon as he dressed.
  2. LL stopped accepting gift cards when someone forgot to include them when they changed processing provider years ago. I know this because I was one of the people affected by it. I almost lost my land because of it. There was no notice that gift cards were no longer going to be accepted. Trying to get help from Lee Linden was a joke; he hung up on me, twice. Fortunately, there was someone who did help otherwise I would have left SL at that point. I couldn't afford a checking account at the time thanks to all the exorbitant fees banks like to charge.

  4. Age verification happened before. It was an abysmal failure. https://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Age_verification
  5. I agree from what I've read of it so far. I also agree with Brad in a thorough investigation of all of the claims by a 3rd party not closely related to LL so that none of it can come back later to bite LL and the residents in the ass.
  6. 333 Linden Street which is where LL got its name. A lime tree. Put the lime in the coconut and drink it all up. I did speak in IMs about why mine was deleted. Mostly due to damage control for legal reasons, not a violation of ToS or guildelines.
  7. Peeved I just found out a couple of days ago that guy is not this guy: I thought they were the same person. 😂
  8. By today's averages, yes. By the averages that existed 50 years ago where I grew up, no. Most women I have met in RL are taller than I am, not shorter.
  9. That's what you get when you grab a tiger by the tail. 🤭
  10. I can tell you didn't really read my post. I am not 5' 3". I am just under 5' 4" by 1/4 of an inch. I am talking about both RL and avatar height. The whole argument is redundant.
  11. I didn't think the way I phrased it could be taken to mean people won't play when I said don't. lol Maybe it's just me and my tired self that's been dealing with too much the last couple of days. Let me word it this way. Most people play The Sims because the game can be modded, not because there are adult mods available. I have thousands of mods, not all of which change game play. Some just add furniture and stuff. It's all good.
  12. All this back and forth over avatar height is a waste of time. Even in RL a child is not defined by its height because there are those who are on the tall side and those who are on the short side at any given age. Look at the junior high school basketball players; they're much taller than I am but they are still children and I am still an adult in her 60s. I'm just under 5' 4" in RL and nearly every woman I have ever met has been taller than me. Not too many years ago the average height of an American woman was determined to be 5' 7". It changes over time because humans change over time. I keep my SL avatar between 5'4" and 5' 7" and I still on occasion get asked if my avatar is a child when it obviously is not. Just stop it.
  13. lmao I'm old enough now that it's not a loss. They're just as boring for me as the old video rental backrooms. lol
  14. No, no. I have played with mods but none of them were even remotely of a sexual nature because for me WooHoo is more than sufficient. I'm just saying that there are a lot of us out there that don't add mods of a sexual nature because that is not why we play. Some of us build far more than we play. Some don't build at all. Most of us play because the game can be modded, we just aren't into wild woohooing. Hopefully that made sense.
  15. Last names were axed in 2010. M Linden left LL June 2010 so yep. Even if last names weren't axed until after he left, he was at the helm when it was decided.
  16. Quoting myself so I can go back to where I left off in the thread. I found the "article". Once I figured out the right search terms to use it wasn't hard to find on the archive... not the Wayback. From what little I have read so far... it's something alright. I'll know more tomorrow when I'll have time to dive in but it's looking like one or two things at least have some merit but there's definitely other stuff I'm finding a little too pat.
  17. You'd be surprised at how many do not play The Sims because they can do adult stuff. Lots of us end up building far more than we actually play.
  18. ok. I must have read that wrong then. I'm confused enough as it is so no worries.
  19. Personally, I don't like those things. To me it feels invasive. Why can't people just ask like they used to? Lots of good friendships start that way.
  20. I should have used the word merit rather than truth. It's what I meant to say that the rest of the allegations have some merit. Brain fog due to still working on that first cuppa at the time. I'll fix it, thank you.
  21. Someone must have forgotten about the people who used to escort the theater customers to their seats were called ushers. The word usher has been around a lot longer than E. A. Poe.
