  1. Or find a way to make remote working work for every civil servant, fast...😃
  2. Yeah, I definitely see your point. I just hope there's some frenetic work being done behind the scene to get stuff like spare beds, masks, testing kits, etc etc. I think that's what's happening, whether it'll have enough of an impact is another question. How are things in your country for now?
  3. that's so weird.. what are they gonna do, shoot the virus? there's a part of me that thinks, eh, if that makes them feel better. But there's another part of me that thinks, uh, guns; guns are scary, and never scarier than in the hands of stressed out people.
  4. Are gun stores still open? Just wondering... (kinda joking and kinda not)
  5. Well, today was OK until half an hour ago. The UK is tightening up the lockdown - now we're only allowed to go out for specific purposes, and this will apparently be strictly enforced, same as it is in France or Spain I guess. We're allowed food shopping, and outdoor exercise, but I've no idea if there's a limitation on time/ distance. I was expecting it, and I understand why it's being done, and hopefully it'll have the desired effect, and it's probably the only way to slow down the virus, and... and... but I'm still finding it hard to deal with at the minute. Ah well. I just wanted to vent a little bit. So we'll see how it goes tomorrow (I need to get some fresh food...)
  6. Went for a walk this morning, and felt immensely grateful that I was in a position to do so. (I went past a local fishmonger, on the blackboard outside there was a note: "due to panic buying we are obliged to limit our customers to 150 lobsters per person. Sorry about that." Or something along those lines.) And one of the charity shops (US: thrift stores) had a sign that said "panic buyers welcome here" - that made me chuckle. I have a few recipes for soups that I'm going to try. Soup is good. Especially if garlic is involved. Everything is better with garlic*. AND garlic is good for you. * well, except chocolate mousse...
  7. AND we're meant to be better at cooking, too.😏
  8. I hope with all my heart they let you out soon. I understand the reasons behind the various forms of lockdown/ confinement/ isolation... but the toll on metal health is only going to grow the more this goes on. Well, at least we know it will end eventually, but still... (Can you rig a fire escape? Kidding...)
  9. oh, I didn't know the anti malaria drug trials were so much ahead. That is most excellent news!
  10. That sounds absolutely horrific. I'm sending you all the virtual hugs that I can (for all the good they'll do - ah!). And I hope that you are allowed to get out of that building soon. I don't know what else to say, but it seems trite to just hit an icon at the bottom of a post (especially a "like" icon).
  11. Thank you @Beth Macbain for starting this thread. I was feeling pretty ***** when I started reading, and to be honest I still feel *****, but maybe a bit less, ever so slightly. Possibly? I don't know. It feels like World War 3. I'm an introvert, and I'm usually pretty good at being on my own, but I'm dreading the next few months. I need SOME human interaction (most of us do, right?)! Also, I'm worried sick I might have caught the virus in that desperate chase for loo rolls and washing up liquid (the 2 main things I wanted to stock on) and general errands that needed doing before self isolating (well, time will tell on that score - if I knew for sure it will end up being a mild case, I'd actually welcome it, get it over and done with, but... there's no way to know, and I am feeling SO scared.) And good luck trying to get a food delivery. I managed to book one with Tesco, I think it's in about 3 weeks time. It's OK, I can get to the shops if I absolutely have to, but... that is scary in itself, especially as the people round were I live don't seem to care about keeping a safe distance, and cough quite freely in enclosed spaces and I'm just completely freaking out about that. And I for one don't believe it'll be over (or over enough) in 3 months, and I look at what's happening in France, where people are only allowed outside for very short periods, and I just get so stressed. Tomorrow morning, I will go for a long walk and get as much fresh air as my very urban environment will allow. If we have to stay inside...well, I live in a tiny flat with no outside space, and the windows only open by about a hand length. Staying inside all the time... I don't even want to contemplate it. It's really interesting to hear about other people's experiences, though, so thank you for sharing. Also, I wish there was a hug button that I could press at the end of every post in this topic (I'm not great with gifs). So please, if you need a hug, get as many as you need, okay? I know it will end (so definitely not WW3 in that respect), eventually, a vaccine WILL be found, and I think we will all go all out to support small businesses and such when that happens, but there is already SO MUCH suffering in the meantime, and right know that's really getting to me too. So, yeah. That's all I wanted to say.
  12. Very cool house! LOVE that "In case of interstellar travel" poster 😄 May I ask where the big pile of books in the living room is from? Ooooh, and the chair in the office? If you don't mind sharing.
  13. That looks like my inventory...after it's been organised...
  14. I'd say they come up far less often than the other types - I've been looking out for them, and I've started recording the number of times they appear, and it's definitely less than the other 3 types. I'm talking 5, 6, 7 over about 12 hours - at least in my experience. But i would imagine that means there are more of them during the SL working hours (my timezone is GMT, so I'm sure I miss out on a lot of activity).
  15. That looks fantastic! And such a great idea. First time using Blender too? Wow.
  16. I hear ya - It can be HUGELY frustrating! All you can do is keep trying, really. Do you use an auto refresh? I find it makes a lot of difference, at least for me it does. The only think I'd add is if you get the chance to try outside of the North American working day, you'll have less "competition" - of course the other side of that is fewer homes on the land page...
  17. Trad now on... Been on the page for at least 20 seconds. (Probably gone by now...)
  18. No. You can eat spam. If you're desperate. I mean, if you've spent 6 months meandering in a swamp with nothing to eat but insects and snakes and come upon a tin of spam, I'm sure spam is a feast. Campers, on the other hand, might be a bit crunchy.
  19. Campers are the new Meadowbrook. Can't wait for log cabins....
  20. Was it in Pugwash? If so, I caught it too... Just the once, though.
  21. Actually, that might work in your favour, because those alts getting the houses tend to put them back into the pool, and do so at various times when it's convenient for them, so that there are now more Linden homes than ever on the page. (Trust me on that one... the difference between now and a few months ago - oh boy!). Hang in there, you WILL get one.
