If you are seeing one or more of the following at your Linden Home, you are having performance issues: Textures are not loading You are unable to easily control your avatar (turning, walking direction, etc.) You have difficulty moving the camera view. The level of performance you can achieve depends on your computer, your network speed and other factors. Generally, no matter what the frame rate, the minimum acceptable performance would include being able to control your avatar without difficulty and textures loading quickly. If you arrive at a new-to-you Linden Home and you're seeing some clear performance/lag issues, here are some steps to help you improve the situation. Check your frame rate. In Firestorm, it's in the upper right corner of your viewer window. If you are seeing frame rates in the teens, or worse yet, single digits, there is clearly some kind of issue going on.You can visit other Linden Homes regions and compare the frame rate in your Linden Homes region. Or, compare to other types of regions like premium sandboxes. Check your internet speed, and possibly reset your router. Try the following settings changes in your viewer to see if they have a positive impact: reduce draw distance, turn off shadows, turn off ambient occlusion. If you are still having performance issues, and you are seeing better frame rates in other Linden Homes regions, it is possible that a nearby resident or residents is/are affecting region performance. To help improve performance, you can Derender/Blacklist assets that are impacting performance when using the Firestorm viewer. Blacklisting only affects the individual instance of the object. If another neighbor has rezzed the object from their own inventory, their instance of the object will not be affected. Objects blacklisted in the Area Search results will remain blacklisted till they are removed from your block list. Go to World > Area Search in the menu Don't fill out any field, just click the Search button* In the search results, adjust the width so you can read most object names, then sort by Owner. Ignore the stuff the Moles own.* Look for the following: Scripted/animated plants and other exterior objects (like complex holiday decorations) Kitty Cats, other breedables, Zoooby baby stuff, and anything that may be related to some kind of complex scripting such as games, temp rezzers, auto-rezzers, etc. A large amount of roaming pets. Security orbs other than the LH one Very large objects that are not a linked set of static furnishings. Stuff that would be more typically at a commercial or event venue, like group dance HUD givers, dance poles, etc. There are likely more but these are the ones that come to mind. When you find an object that you want to derender/blacklist, right click on the object name and select "Blacklist" After you've done this for a few objects, check to see if your frame rate has improved. You should see moderate to significant improvement after you have worked through the search results. * There is likely a RegEdit expression that one can include in search that will ignore results owned by Moles, but I am not including that in this post.

Since we have folks new to Linden Homes frequently coming into the forums, I thought it would be a good idea to consolidate information on how to improve responsiveness/performance (ie, reducing lag) and getting rid of annoyances. So, here are the type of situations that this thread will address: You arrive at a a new-to-you Linden Home and notice the signs of lag/bad performance: your frame rate is low, your avatar is difficult to control, you have difficulty moving the camera view into the desired position There's unwanted sounds coming into your parcel from somewhere - music, a short rock/jazz sound loop, the sound of a video, etc. You can hear the conversations people are having on their own parcels. Your neighbor has something really annoying on the outside portion of their property - how to determine if it is allowable or not, what to do if it's allowed but annoying. Breedables, commercial activity, and other types of restricted assets...and what to do if a nearby resident is violating the covenant.

Newbrooke homes and water accessibility
Trinity Blakewell replied to EnchantrixLisa's topic in Linden Homes
It depends. In many cases, such as stilts on land that touches water or is partially on the water, you can rez a boat on your parcel, sit in the boat and drag it into the open water. But if you get a home location that is next to water, but the water region is actually designated to be a land region later (as in filling in the edges of a continent), than you won't be able to push a boat out there. I'm assuming that what works for stilts on land would also work on other home parcels that border navigable water. -

This is very much a work-in-progress but I like where its headed. I'm working on a Heaton right now. I'm actually finding it easier to fill up than some of the other 1024 Newbrooke models. This post is about utilitzing the large open space in the Heaton and creating a bunch of cozy spaces. The view looking slightly to the right as one enters through the front door... Another view of the living room area on the left: Another view of this side...- 4,312 replies

The all-in-one Home Furnishings Topic!
Trinity Blakewell replied to Trinity Blakewell's topic in Linden Homes
Chronicles and Legends this round has an Art Deco/1920s theme. There are some really cute home furnishings available at the event (I wish there was more clothing, but oh well...) -
It gets even better. I had run out of tries, and had been tracking that house all day. Had to work on my taxes IRL, so took a break. The house was "occupied" (ie assigned to a resident) for hours, and Newbrooke 1024s were showing up on the land page so I knew there were others available. Took a break from the taxes and thought I'd try again but forgot to go back and check the house again at that point. And...guess what? I rolled the house again.

I would like for Apple Fall to produce a new kitchen too! We could use some more quality kitchens. Every time I start a new home layout, I go through all my kitchens and think "is this really the best that can be found at a reasonable price?" And then half the time I use a prop kitchen taken out of a Trompe Loeil home just because the texturing is more realistic than anything else I have. -

It's definitely a mixed bag of items, some a very good value at $L50 and others are items that Apple Fall has had in the outlet for similar prices, or even scattered freebies in the store from time to time. Of note, the Cooper Bedroom Suites (each including a dresser, bedside table and wardrobe) and the Elenora Bedroom Suites (each containing a dresser, a tallboy dresser and a bedside table) are $L50 per color/finish during the sale, so in that case you do get 3 pieces. Also, the West Village Clinton Bed (on sale in several different colors and PG or Adult versions) is one of the under-10 LI beds from my list. And, I'm not sure that the Plantation Kitchen Sets have ever been $L50 before. -
are Newbrooke 1024 homes completely sold out?
Trinity Blakewell replied to Teresa Firelight's topic in Linden Homes
I'm seeing the names, but not the regions themselves, within the in-world map -

The all-in-one Home Furnishings Topic!

I went over to a Premium Sandbox last night and pulled apart the two sides of that module (fireplace wall and kitchen), removing the two side pieces. The shadow comes along with the fireplace side but that piece can still be used, as long as the shadow is moved below the floor (I may make the shadow part transparent too). That leaves the flat wall kitchen side, which does have full textures on the cabinets on each end, unlike some kitchens in Trompe builds. The biggest challenge may be the height of the kitchen...I'll have to check to see whether the top cabinets can be pulled lower. -

You may think I'm a prude, but I wish wrong would put the PG versions of the beds on sale. -

I did confirm that the Kraftwork/Fancy Decor Modular Kitchen does not have one of those "exclusion" tags so if you missed picking one up at the Fancy Decor sale, or want to pick it up in a different color, it is apparently included in the current sale at Kraftwork. -

My bathroom is that same Bazar one that was recently released... I may try one of the 512 size house next, just so I can add more decor and not run out of LI.- 4,312 replies

I divided the main living area into half with a fireplace wall, so the front is more a conversational area and the back a comfortable tv-watching area.- 4,312 replies
