  1. Woah ๐Ÿ˜ฒ Did not know that! Even better reason to not voice! Thanks for the info!
  2. Yes!! haha! That's why I almost always refuse to voice. It just ruins the illusion I create for myself and therefore some of the fun and intrigue. Drives me nuts when I walk around shopping and hear people with voice on. Totally the Tyson effect!
  3. When you meet someone virtually, meaning not face to face, its only natural to form a picture in your mind of what you think the other person is like- how they look, their personality, etc... And then when you meet them in person or hear their voice or whatever, that image you've created in your mind is often destroyed. And this can kinda shake you a bit and bring out a variety of emotions. It's one of the challenges of online dating in any form. I get that.... With Second Life, most of us don't have an expectation of ever meeting the person behind the avatar. SL gives us freedom to express who we truly are and experiment with a plethora of other possibilities. I think that's one of the things that's truly great about this virtual environment. I'm sure there's quite a few older-than-middle-age, typical "housewife"-type women who log on here and feel the freedom of diving head first into the BDSM lifestyle that they would never have the courage to consider in real life. I'm sure there's plenty of hardcore straight manly men who log on and can't wait to take their blond bombshell avi shopping for their next sexy dress or pair of stilettos. I love the freedom SL gives us to simply be who we are without apology. No one should apologize or feel guilty or awkward for that in SL. There's enough of that in RL... Personally, I'd much rather be friends with and date men who are women behind the screen. I'm making some generalizations here, which isn't fair, but soooo many of the men (men IRL) I've interacted with in SL, especially those who have been looking for a date, simply have one thing on their mind. And that's not what I'm looking for. I've found it much easier to interact with women in-world and I tend to be more defensive and skeptical if I know the person I'm talking to is a man. I'd much rather date a man who was a woman behind the avi. But its not something that's easy to find.... I'm not about to go around asking guys in-world if they happen to be a girl in RL!
  4. Hi Freya, can you share the slurl so we can take a look on the map or visit in person? Thanks!
  5. I second this... And if people don't take the application and interview seriously, they're not serious about the job. SL or not, RP or not, the commitment must be real if the prospective employee and business is to succeed. I also took your message as peeved due to your own choice of words. So perhaps before you critique others on their choice of language, perhaps consider your own and how it might be perceived..? I will also add that I don't see a single thing wrong with the OP's job application. Any decent and serious job description, in SL and DEFINITELY in RL, should include the job requirements and basic expectations for a prospective applicant. Waiting to share that information until the time of interview is honestly a pretty ridiculous idea, as you are wasting not only your time as the employer, but also the time of the applicant. She also states that instructors create their own schedules. And if someone truly considers filling out an application for a job (roleplay or not) as "work", well, why are they even looking for a job? ๐Ÿ™„ OP, if I had an ounce of available time, I would love to come and teach! I remember your original posts when you were just considering starting a rp university and looking for a business partner. I stopped by campus the other day and thought it looked awesome. I think you're doing a great job- keep it up!!! ๐Ÿ˜ Ignore those who just seem to criticize. There's definitely a few of them on these forums...

  8. You didn't come off as "nice" at all, nor are you now. My point stills stands... I was asking for suggestions on modeling agencies to employ, not critique or reasons why I shouldn't be. I'm not here to start forums to discuss the pros and cons of SL role-play, companies, schools or anything else. I was asking a question. If you don't have an agency to recommend, MOVE ON.
  9. I've been searching around for a nice high quality mesh platter of sandwiches to place inside of a display case in a cafe, similar to the photos of ones attached below. It would be awesome if it also offered a sandwich to eat when you touched it. Fewer prims the better of course. Does anyone know of anything like this, or anyone able/willing to make one? I am definitely willing to pay.
  10. Hi Jude, thanks so much for the response! I will definitely contact you in-world ASAP.
  11. There are still a few; I found them. And let me ask you, what makes a modeling agency/school necessarily a ripoff? It's Second Life. Regardless of what it might be to you personally, it's still a *game* deeply rooted in *role play*. If someone wants to role play attending a modeling school or running a modeling school, isn't that their prerogative? I've participated in elementary schools at a kid avi, I've attended colleges as an adult avi. I've paid for them with L$/real money. Didn't learn a thing, so perhaps you might call those schools a ripoff too. But I had a great time doing it and so it was completely worth the L$ I paid. And your last comment came off a little harsh. I was being sarcastic, tongue-in-cheek, saying that I was "hoping to avoid the recruitment and selection process myself". So sorry if it wasn't read that way... Point was, I was looking for models and wished to go through an agency who would help find the right model for the job using their existing list of people. I've never sought a model before, so I really have no clue what to look for and ask for. And of course they would be paid, not me. Seems pretty obvious to me that if you work with an agency to find talent, the agency/talent is paid! I'm pretty new to these forums, but I am NOT new to Second Life. But I'll share something I've noticed quite a bit in a lot of these forum postings. It seems fairly common for certain people to respond to someone's post with a critical, judgmental response that's simply unhelpful, unnecessary and uncalled for, especially if the original post is submitted by a "newbie" to the forums. There also seems to be a specific few people that are quite active in the forums and participate this is behavior a lot, almost as if they see themselves as a voluntary moderator. As a "newbie" to the forums, I'd just like to say that this sort of thing SUCKS. If you don't have something useful to say, DON'T RESPOND. We don't need you critiquing our posts, questioning our motives or interest, and making it uncomfortable for us to use the forums. *mic drop*
  12. I've only found one or two in-world, and maybe that's all there really is these days... But thought I'd ask here just in case someone can point me in the right direction. Anyone know of groups or places that offer models for short projects and photo shoots? I'd like to find an agency that already have experienced people on "payroll"; hoping to avoid the recruitment and selection process myself and just use an agency to bring the talent to me! ๐Ÿ˜
  13. I say if you're advertising job openings, regardless of the type of position, it's perfectly reasonable to ask people to apply. In RL, you don't get a job interview/the opportunity to meet and discuss the job, see the location, etc, until AFTER you show interest by submitting an application. Siera, I think you're doing exactly what I would do. And I would be interested myself, although I'm not quite sure I have the time to devote at the moment! Perhaps in the future. But lots of luck to you!!

  15. Yay for super awkward people that are no good at starting conversations! ๐Ÿ˜‚ I am too.... I also keep myself busy too, I do wish I had someone to chat with and share activities with sometimes. I'll be in world later today, maybe we could chat then?
  16. Hi! I understand your situation. I'm not new, but still have trouble making friends. It is hard to get up the courage to message people when so often it leads to nothing but silence. Feel free to reach out to me though, I won't ignore you. I'll be in world later today.
