I think it’s more 50% of one, 50% of the other. When I look back now, after more than a decade of experience, at what the promises actually were compared to the limitations of SL and what was actually on offer..I do kinda see the point the writer is making. SL was hyped to literally be the future of Communication, social interaction, corporate communication and digital development.

I do wonder though whether the Android lead is specifically because “YEAH ANDROID!!” as the die hard androiders would have you believe or rather that android phones are more affordable than iPhones so a larger portion of people opt for them. I know quite a few android users in rl who often say “ohh I would love an iPhone but it’s just too expensive”. See for me, I used to be super pro android. But, I was for some reason unlucky with android phones and give it maybe six months they would start developing faults and issues and inside of twelve would die completely. This happened to my Z1, HTC, Xperia Play, Samsung S, Dell Streak. So in the end I relented and bought an iPhone. I won’t lie though after seven years of using iPhones I’m a complete fan girl now 😅

Idk, from reading that post it looks like they are at least considering going as far as it being graphical. I really really really want them to eventually have a decent, awesome, mobile app. It is such a long time coming really given that modern smartphones have been around for over a decade now.

...the linden built mobile app will look/be like. God knows we need one for iOS that is half decent. But, what do you think. What are your hopes, dreams, fears. One thing I would love to see is the ability to send items to another player. Would be extremely useful for business owners if we need to give something to a customer for some reason and can not access a computer. Region management would be good for land owners and private simlords

They can just change their first name. It’s not just a whole name change, I asked this at one of the inworld group meetings. You can also revert back to previously used / original name if you so do wish

I have only ever noticed that happen when you rent a full sim and there is a tiny tiny square on the corner that is still owned by the land owner. Removing that eliminated the problem for me

Ya know. I ageee with you. But, ultimately it’s all about money at the end of the day. If you can convince someone to pay $xxx for premium and then a further $xxx for a name change it’s a higher rate of income than just allowing for paid name changes. There’s more of a chance of someone keeping premium once they have it as opposed to never having to need it, thus higher revenue. As for Sansar, it has to go. No one uses it and you only have to look at products like Sinespace to see what LL could have created instead.

Nope, you can’t take any previous legacy names. You would both have to choose a matching new one. You can revert though so his current surname wouldn’t be lost

I can see advantages to this. You are guaranteed to get along with each other and if you don’t...then you know something is deeply wrong and you should probably get counselling ASAP
