Modelling colleges are either roleplay or borderline-scams, so I'd save your lindens.

There's two main problems with going into modelling as a career. The first is that there's very little money in modelling; in order for a photographer to pay you for your time, they'd need to be making more money to cover that cost. So where would that come from, creators looking for vendor ads? They'd want consistency, so are more likely to just use their own alts routinely. Fashion bloggers? Again they'd most likely use themselves, and the few that do get 'paid' are paid in the form of free clothing. In-store models? Either customer support reps doubling up as a model, or an alt/bot of the creator that they can idle in the shop 24/7.

The second is that there's a pretty massive community of photographers in SL. At times, it seems like every third person I meet takes photos, there's thousands and thousands of us. Not only are most photographers perfectly willing to model for others (it's fun to be on the other side of the camera for a change!), but they also make better models than your average resident - as we've got hours of practice at adjusting ourselves to fit photos. So if any photographer does need models for a shoot - of any kind, at almost any skill level - the vast majority can just open their contacts list and find someone suitable, with no payment needed or expected.

So if you're interested in modelling out of pure enjoyment, because it's something you enjoy, then that's perfect. That's awesome. But if you're looking to make this a career that will pay the rent... it almost certainly won't.

Yes, I do agree that the colleges are scams and I would way more prefer to be a photographer... but I can't find anyone who will hire me. I've done photoshop edits on multiple games. It's something I enjoy. but it does not seem that most people Will hire someone who is new to SL/has no experience in SL photography. but here is the problem if no one will hire anyone who has no to little experience, then how are those people supposed to get experience? It's just confusing, but yes thank you. I am looking to enjoy it maybe if I made money yeah that would be fun. but what I really want for a job is to be a photographer. Thanks for your advice!

Modeling is a very complicated thing to get into in Second Life, because you need to know a lot about how things work, to be able to modify items, colour match, walk a runway with lag from the depths of hell, you have to have animations and poses and lots of things available to be a model and know how to use them. You also need to have a pretty decent inventory, because if someone is hiring you for a photo shoot for a product, you usually will have to have the other items to make the shot look great...such as hair options, skins, shoes etc. The courses are for different people, and I am sure can be helpful, but modeling and shows are a whole other community compared to shop models and the such and sometimes shop models are just people that stand around AFK in a store showing off an item, and again you have to look good while doing so.

If you are new new, I suggest spending some time learning Second Lifes quirks, so that you are an asset to any one seeking someone that knows things. I also suggest learning how to take your own pictures so you have a portfolio of work, different looks, to show you have an eye yourself for what someone may be looking for. Spend some time looking at Flickr groups for Second Life, the stores you wear will have groups also. Attend some fashion shows if that is the kind of modeling you want to do, talk to some models, see what they earn if you have limited time in world you may not want to sacrifice it working for not a lot of money if any money at all, because sometimes it is just items you get to keep.

Good luck in what you are wanting to do

Thank you, I do have multiple skins and various items. I am not sure what modeling job I would be looking for but I'm just putting it out there that I am open to anything for Modeling. I am working on creating a portfolio website for my SL AV model. and yes I am working to put together some different looks. Thank you for that Response. It was very helpful. I am looking to go to a Modeling college after I get the L$ but yes I do have very little time in the game most of it I use spending time playing a Harry Potter RP. I am though willing to work around those peoples schedule when I am online. Thank you again for your tip it is very much appreciated!
