This was me for a long time!! However, when COVID hit I decided to really apply myself to learning 3D mesh as I've always wanted to do and in a year's time I went from making crude apples to (last thing I did) a whole castle keep with ambient occlusion properly baked! I did take some courses last year, as well as just practice a bunch with YT tutorials (I have several i found to be especially helpful and explain things better where others did not, let me know if you're interested in them!) and now I have my own store where I've started to sell things people seem to enjoy! It's a hurdle, yes, especially on a marketplace where there are GODS AMONG HUMANS making the most beautiful mesh objects from years upon years of experience, but you have to bear in mind that NO ONE is going to create the exact same things you think of, NO ONE can replicate your creativity and ideas. It also helps, for me, to make my items accessible in-world and to completely describe every aspect of them on the MP so customers know what they're getting; if it's too newb for you, you'll know before you purchase. Practice, practice, practice is the key, and if you find you love building and working with mesh it won't seem tedious...or at least not THAT tedious, it will be sometimes regardless. I lost my beloved dog this summer, I empathize! I've actually established a small parcel as a pet memorial/virtual cemetery in Andraca (for RL pets), if you'd be interested in visiting. I made it specifically as a quiet place to go remember my boy and hopefully for others to do the same. It's small, but there's a chapel where you can light a prayer candle and I'm hoping to help others set up memorial spots there eventually

Hi Youngin, I was a gacha reseller for awhile! (Technically still am, but the landscape has changed a bit since gacha ban so I'm trying to feel that out before I go back into reselling...ANYWAY) There are several different gacha-like machines creators are using. By name, I know of Miepon, but there are some other systems I've seen at shopping events that I don't immediately recall names of. The basic principle is that the distribution is still random, but the machine will tell you which item is being sold at the moment (like, NOW SELLING: COMMON 6 or whatever) and if someone buys that it then changes to another random item in the gacha- but still fully informative of what you're getting before you pay. So, if you wanted a specific item you'd still probably have to buy through a bunch of other items before you got to it, which to me still seems supportive of the reseller market. Hopefully- it was fun lol. As far as I can tell all the machines more or less work like this. Gacha, but with full disclosure of what's going to be generated out to you. I hope this rambling helped some!

At the moment I have my store on the mainland and my customer base is very small, but as I'm expanding I've been looking into maybe migrating back into a sim sometime next year or so. Either way, best of luck to you! I've really really enjoyed doing commerce in SL and learning more and more about mesh in the process, hopefully it'll be a similarly rewarding experience for you!

I can offer my limited experience in both. I prefer mainland for both my private and public parcels, but I'm a social creature and I've always felt more connected to my neighbors on mainland (as evidenced by the fact that I've made friends with many of them in the time I've been here). Also, for my ends, mainland tends to be cheaper in the long run for more. I think it really depends on what you want to get out of your space, what you intend to use it for. That said, I only have very limited experience renting on private island sims and I'm still a bit of a student in this as well- and, of course, the sociability of private sims would depend, I imagine, on how the owners market and design it. I would say if privacy and total control are important to you, private sims seem to be the way to go (or float your stuff on up to the sky). Personally I like the ever-changing landscape of the mainland and being part of that, hence my preference. 😊

I had a somewhat similar issue on my beach parcel, which is surrounded by other businesses/rentals/public areas, but -I- was the problem because I was putting waves in the middle ocean/waterway and it turned out that wasn't public waterway, but part of my neighbor's parcel across from me LOOOL (I was still pretty new...I'm STILL pretty new...). They weren't fond of me doing this, but we talked and worked it out (I made the waves smaller, put them entirely on my beach) and now we're good SL friends! Communication is so important. Beyond that, my neighbors and I on my mainland home parcel often have issues with each other's objects floating over or pets wandering over, but again-communication, we figure it out. I'm sorry your neighbors don't seem willing to discuss the issue and come to a compromise, I find that's usually the best way to deal with these issues, may even be worth another try to reach out and see if there isn't anyone in the parcel group or something that'll be willing to talk? Apart from this the steps suggested are the best way to go if communication ain't happening. Like others have said Mainland can be a bit of a lawless area, which can be both a pro and a con. Skydomes/skyboxes can be a good alternative for more privacy and less neighbor visuals, but also (again parroting) a private island or parcel therein may be better suited to what you're looking for. I feel you though, this stuff can get complicated and tiring. I hope you're able to work something out!!

I have a LH, as well as a plot of connecting parcels, our 'estate' for my SL family group. I also collect little mainland parcels here and there that look cool, which I'll rent our or use for my business endeavors, like my gacha resale and my store for my original mesh creations. Like others have said, I really enjoy landscaping and creating pretty areas for others to explore and use. One of my SL hobbies is looking at available parcels for sale, usually for fun, but sometimes I'll find a little gem! I also sometimes sell off parcels I can no longer use to keep my tier payment manageable for my budget.

Not looking specifically for humans, but right now I'd prefer models with a 'humanoid' shape (an anthro wolf, rather than an avatar of an actual wolf if that makes sense) - Avatars with a subcultural/fringe sort of look (goth, punk, boho, fantasy, tattoos, piercings, etc) are preferable. - Mesh avatars are also preferable, but I'm willing to consider others! -Models willing to pose in 'intimate' positions with each other, with the same, opposite, other genders (cuddling, kissing etc) but nothing adult/sexual or involving nudity. -Players of legal adult age in their country/region -Cool folks willing to help a girl out! Hi there! I'm Annie, I'm extremely new to SL but have managed to secure myself a parcel of land and a fairly roomy house I'm just knocking around in right now. This isn't really a rent issue as I only pay minimal land fees but I'd like to get to know more people and would rather not feel lonely in my house. This is sort of a tentative search, just to chum the waters and see who's interested. About the house: It has a furnished living room and three empty bedrooms downstairs, as well as an open space upstairs without much privacy but I guess could be another living/entertaining area. I also have a kitchen for aesthetic purposes lol. It's on flatland (well, to an extent, the land is kind of bumpy, tried to even it out as best I can but there's still some 'grassland' in the house, so if you like nature here's your place) near a beach in a pretty quiet neighborhood. I pay only 20 linden a month for land fees so we could just split that. About me: I'm 28, I just started playing SL for fun, on a whim. I loved The Sims and this is a similar creature, I suppose. In both IRL and SL I like to live quietly so I'd be looking for people that wouldn't want to throw huge parties on the property, etc (though I am down to go party in other places!). Not looking for sex or relationship stuff either, I'm married IRL and would like to keep things strictly friendly (tho in the house if you want to go clothing optional I have no problem lol, I have an outdoor bath that I'm not sure how to use but be my guest).
