Until OC edged them out (at the time) there was also the Tokkon (think I spelled that one right) system by Xcite.

tokkon and tokkon 2 which had the ability to use web api to control things from the web. so an owner didnt even need to be logged in world to do things to their sub/slave/pet.

a few of the collar creators once went that direction.

some even had databases that prevented or made it harder for the sub/slave/pet to ever runaway and escape without basically having to toss the collar and buy a new one.

I just really like my current one for changing clothes and rezzing my huds on my screen and like the utilities of it..

I don't really do any of those other things.. I just like the having everything push button rather than going into my inventory all the time.

then a simple oc collar would work well for you. get one of their new 7.5 collars you can ask in group inworld and people can point you to the right place to get even just a simple looking one for those purposes.

hell you can even turn a pair of ear rings or necklace into one if that is what is wanted. or make it a simple hidden object that only you have access too. no visible collar or other items.

Over the years several people and groups have made their own OC style collars and script systems completely independently of OpenCollar. I don't think OpenCollar was even the first. Most are gone but some of them are still on the market and still maintained.

oc just became one of the more popular and well known brands.

yes there was the old icontrol.. the chain of command scripts.. lots of different systems.

it is like in california and other beach areas where the homeowner owns a parcel but the laws are that the public still has right to access. I dont know LL original intention when creating mainland or open waterways but I would presume it would be for general use and passage through. and by ejected I mean from the vehicle - the vehicle gets the auto return and you get ejected from said vehicle

sl is not like rl with the same sorts of laws about access to land or waterways.

in sl the owner is god and has all the power to decide who has access rights at all.

I was reading on that Whim one.. I might give it a try.

if you want to be a doll. there are various doll key creators.

if you want to try being a robot.. there are various robot controllers. like ns or acs or I think nuerolab had one too.

my collar is an oc+vd hybrid. it has a few features of each. one of them being that even with an owner added I still have control over my collar and cannot be force-able removed from it. unlike current oc collars and many other collars. where once you add a collar owner you basically loose control over what can be done with it unless they add you to it..

whim is more based around the tf(transformation play basis) but has some collar similarities, but its still in its early stages. i have a whim collar.. icontrol collar.. vd collar..oc collar..a doll key..a ns controller.

if you just want to be able to be captured or kidnapped there is the sin-t system or other similar system. some gor sims have their own combat system which has a collar.. so when you loose the combat the victor can claim your collar.

lots of choices out there for what ever your desire may be.

What's a good one to get, because I should probably switch then if that's gonna end up happening.

you could look around and try other collar creators like MD or RR or even get the OC collars. just make sure to ask in group if they use the peanut scripts or OC scripts as their base scripts before buying.

look for and join OpenCollar they can provide you with a list of collar creators and designers.

there is a new system in the works called Whim you can find it on the mp. its completely different then oc or vd and has its own potential.

when the ban line runs into open water with land on one side and a structure on the other... the point is maybe a better way can be made to protect people's desire for privacy while still maintaining the open sim nature of mainland continents....

well they do own that bit of water too. so its their right to keep people out of it..

strange thing is. I never get ejected.. I just get bounced.

It was quite entertaining to watch though. :P

kind of tragic really. she had some good ideas and made some interesting changes over time but she did it the wrong way by trying to take and open source project and make it closed sourced for profit with her premium scripts and then making a lot of the core scripts no mod as well. where only she had power over them and what was in them.

something that was totally against the spirit and idea of what OC was meant to be. that the scripts were always meant to be full permission for the core collar that the only thing you ever paid for was the collars themselves and not the scripts inside them.

and to anyone wanting to know there are several different kinds of collar creators and scripting systems to use. Mars collars.. MD.. RR.. the old Icontrol system and several others.. some are not updated anymore or as often as others.

so no one group really has a monopoly on the whole collar system in sl.

you could even use a doll key or a ns controller.. there are many other choices out there. there is even the new Whim system that has a promising outlook created by the developers of the Immersivity system a tf system.. found over at ~silenced~

Yea I'm using a Vd and just got a spam about an oil spill or something like that..

I like the collar itself, but if those messages get to where they start to annoy me I'll probably switch..

It's just in general chat anyways where i see it.. So I'm not too worried about it right now..

If they start to get political, I'll drop it like a bad habit..

oh it will.. she has gone off her rocker and become a political activist and uses her groups and discord and her products as her personal activist tools now. she even stopped updating her products and removed her updaters and and other parts to her product line.

  10. that is not being done by opencollar.. that is being done by a competitor of opencollar.. vd.. run by a different person..

what you are probably wearing is a vd or peanut collar which has no affiliation with opencoallar at all.

opencollar.at is run by vd and not the original OC group byt the creator and founder of the fireflower group. which has turned to using her product and groups and discord for activist reasons

the address related to the true open source open collar ends in .cc not .at

if your collar says peanut in its settings menu.. its a vd not an OC.

I know the hole history of what happened between the two groups I was there during it all. it wasnt pretty.

and the new oc collars are just as easy to use as vd collars and just as easy to update. but they do use a new system which is not compatible with the old vd scripts.

currently oc is on 7.5 with an alpha version of 8.0 in the works.

i myself use a 7.3 hybrid that I made by using various scripts from both oc and vd to suit my needs.

seach in world for OpenCollar to find the real OC group.

or search in places for KBar West to find the real place to get the real OC collars.

  11. I dont see this ever happening for then people with them set will complain that some are getting through even if just for a moment and that moment might be enough for them to feel their privacy was invaded.

its almost an all or nothing thing.

you do know you can turn on the visibility of ban lines in the viewer where you can see them as you approach them without the need of a hud right? at which point you steer away from it so you dont hit it. so no extra running scripts needed.

If you fall for an account debiting scam, 1) get the object back into your inventory as quick as you can.  As long as it is in world, it can continue to take money from you.  2) Submit an Abuse Report to LL, and also call the Fraud Hotline, 800-860-6990.  If reported promptly, it's possible that LL can recover your stolen $L.

turn of rlv.. remove pay piggy/findom device. play dumb and contact ll and hope they believe it.

like dont fall for the bailrlv device that is out there.. or other rlv anti-cheat devices that require you to pay to prove your faithfulness. there are some really nasty rlv devices that findoms can use to drain your lindens if your not careful and understand how they work.

beware of the doll key/robot device that makes you pay to recharge it or be rlv restricted.. be aware of the rlv findom dice game that is set to make the dom win most of the time so the pay piggy is constantly drained. there is a cage once in it wont let you out until you pay the price set on the cage which can be any number.. even a million lindens

oh lets not forget the rlv piggy punishment system that exists that makes you pay to do just about anything.. talk.. tp.. walk..group chat.. or just takes lindens at set intervals.

so yeah lots of tricky dicky little items out there that you have to be aware of and pay attention to those permission request dialogs.

at one point rlv could even auto accept some permissions but that was later removed I believe because of possible abuse of the feature.

I'm not sure you understand how biology and ecosystems work, friend. There's a direct connection of lineage tracing backwards from you to the first cellular life on Earth and then branching out and connecting to all other life here. I'm not sure you understand how civilizations work, either. But thanks for the conversation, and just keeping it topical, my pet peeve is razed civilization.

that is irrelevant. dna does not matter. and civilizations rise and fall and even become myths and legends over time and forgotten. that is how time and life works. nothing lasts for ever, everything eventually comes to an end.. everything.

That's not the kind of relationship you want to have with mother nature.

mother nature does not care, she does it herself at times.  she will remove races or animals that no longer have a place on the world.  she knows that sometimes you have to get rid of the old entirely to make room for the new. that you cant just keep building on top of the old or the foundation will crumble over time.

Hey I have a new one! Beat this one! It is an off-shoot of "people" as my pet peeve.

Get emotionally invested in (yet another) SL relationship. Spend a ton of time together, every day, for a month. Then, after a lovely day, out of the blue, be told it is all over unless you convert to being a Muslim. (It really doesn't matter the religion. I think this would be equally annoying if it was Shinto or something. This one just happened to be Muslim.) Yee ha!

Yup. Stick a fork in me. I'm done.

You'd think after 11 years in SL... lessons would have been learned. Nope. I'm slow.

Does this count as a peeve?

    Also, this is appropriate:

hence why you should never get too invested in anyone in sl ever. given the right time, the right reason they will stab you in the back when least expected.

You can't overwork the soil. You can abuse it, however, but the two are different things. You cannot burn away cultural problems because things in the spiritual or conceptual realm aren't actually flammable, you see. You can only make better culture.

you can burn it all away.. you can destroy it completely. you can remove it from existence. mass extinction and mass eradication of all records of the past. genocide of an entire race and erasure of all sources of materials that point to that race as ever having existed and annihilation of anyone or anything that ever references it again.

abusing it is overworking it. they are the same thing just by different names.

  17. 1 minute ago, Chroma Starlight said:

Is that your assessment of the state of the world today? You cannot overwork the soil, the soil is life itself, but you can certainly poison it.

you can easily poison it by trying to overwork it. this is a fact of reality. many farmers learn this way too late when first trying to learn to farm. then spend a long time and lots of effort and energy and time trying to repair the damage done. or having to have others come do it for them because they are unable too or unwilling too.

and sometimes you need the arsonist to come and just burn it all away so a new beginning can be had. tear it all down so new growth can happen.

I don't think I used the words 'control' at any point, but there must be a philosophy that protects individual and collective rights exhaustively, and they must not be infringed. If they should be and nothing can be done, then there's neither control nor rights, which seems like the worst-possible-case scenario. I am not advocating stagnation, or over-protection. But many things, often the best most esoteric things, the things that make life meaningful and worthwhile, these things, or lives, are extraordinarily fragile, and like negentropic development, they require an environment supportive of life in order to flourish. You've gotta get your hands dirty to work the soil.

sometimes those things do not need protection sometimes they do. sometimes they only need little pushes now and then. rights is a farce they come and go and are changed by the whim of those in control. there are no universal or god give rights that is a myth a lie.

those things are not as fragile as some like to think they are often very durable and strong and can function fine without outside interference of any kind.

over work the soil and your ruin the chances of what you were trying to grow from ever blooming.

I just realized, you think that every time I use a figure of speech it's 'hypnosis' and 'brainwashing'? Could that be it? If so, how austere!

Protection is a matter of best practices, a sort of hygiene and sanitation for civilization so as not to die in its own filth, if you will. That's a pretty important function.

not not every time. just when you speak of control methods for most control methods are just that disguised by other names.

and over protection can kill and destroy and cause stagnation of life and creativity and desire to learn or try new things and explore.

wash away all the germs all the time and you actually make the body weaker over time. you weaken its immune system.

the old saying 'cleanliness is next to godliness' was said for a reason. its true.. if you try and keep yourself too clean you will meet god a lot sooner then otherwise.

Therefore, f it let's just give up? I disagree with that conclusion. The solution is not to suggest people buy carbon filters to keep the lead out of their drinking and cooking water. The solution is to remove the neurotoxin from their lives altogether.

it wont work you cant. there will always be other sources of it that are not readily seen or understood until its already affected them. you cannot protect them all the time. it doesn't work and cant work and never will ever.

you cant protect them from themselves either.

I'm beginning to think you don't have an actual position, then. The voices in a village are a lot less psychotic than the voices in an economy. A society must be nurturing not exploitative and predatory.

but you see there is no such village.. for there is always someone even in the village looking to prey upon someone weaker. even if the village and its elders think they have ousted everyone like that, they fail often.

for example gangs.. no matter how much they are fought they cannot be defeated. groupies and fandoms other eccentricities. you cannot control or stop or rid the village of all of them ever.

instead of trying to remove them teach others not to fear them or be influenced by them or controlled or mislead or deceived by them. but even that fails over time and always will.

What sort? The sort where they aren't sheltering-in-place because of a pandemic's evitable spread? The sort where they are enveloped in a culture of positive memes that continually elevate and inform their path through life? The sort where their children are raised by a village rather than an economy? The sort  where the vulnerable are protected from the predators? Why does this stuff seem threatening, like 'hypnosis' and 'brainwashing,' again?

those are all attempts at brainwashing. and not everyone can be. not everyone can be hypnotized either.

no one knows the correct path of life for anyone else ever. children raised by a village are never stable for their are many influences in the village that are nefarious even if thought to have been rooted out. you cannot protect everyone ever.
