It crossed my mind...but I didn't want to be the first one to bring it up as a possible reason😊

Well, there was never a chance of LL allowing anyone involved to make public appearances while the investigation was still going on. Nobody's fault, no presumption of guilt, just appropriate procedures being followed.

Especially because the best parcels often seem to get taken by the same people, even before Premium Plus.

That's because they were using alts to keep the ones they didn't want out of the available pool. When GoH was at its peak you'd get groups or couples with a few dozen accounts at their disposal snapping up the majority of any new release. Premium Plus has largely negated the need for that, as well as cutting down on the number of alts people need/can afford.

Maybe those questions and others will be addressed in June, though I think there are some very significant issues that need to be publically addressed *before* the SL 21st Birthday celebrations.

I'm pretty sure this is why we don't have any Q&A sessions at B5A. Bluntly, the Lindens have more important things to worry about than Bellisseria right now.

    ok back on topic

When will the original homes be discontinued?

The obvious time to stop offering them was when they redid the Land pages; they could easily have omitted some or all of the L1 options without actually changing anything on the backend, but opted not to. So: not any time soon. I think they are hoping that if they wait a couple of years most of the remaining tenants will either default on their subscriptions or swap to an L2, and whatever diehards are left can be consolidated on to a single continent. It's not a fun job and I can see why they're dragging their feet.

I still don’t understand the names thing, just use whatever and a nickname like anyone sane?

Coming up with cool or funny name combos was a minor artform in pre-Resident days, so some oldbies can't resist the lure even if they have to pay for it now.

They might get away with it given that his name is actually 'Fozzie'...

  6. What I don't get is why would anyone wearing a child avatar be in a managerial role? Surely the whole point of roleplaying as a kid is so you can avoid those responsibilities?

When it's time to go to work, you pop your adult avatar on and people listen to what you say. Problem solved.

Yes, I have to admit that I was saddened that there was no opportunity to even volunteer to contribute a build.  Perhaps they wanted to just go with folks who repeatedly contribute to the Parade of Homes, or other decorating blogs.

I think they must have been going for a certain amount of homogeneity to offset any possible clashes from having multiple themes in the same region? Which, again, I get, though there are probably ways of doing that which wouldn't involve leaning so heavily on small groups of people with similar aesthetics.

  8. If it were a Linden sponsored event then residents would have been allowed to contribute more than photos :)

It does seem, for example, that the planning committee were given many more houses to furnish than they were actually capable of finding interior designers for, and that an SLB-style call for submissions could have lessened the burden on some severely overstretched volunteers.  There are lots of people out there who would surely have been happy to do one house even if they couldn't quite manage three or four. (I do get that involving a wider range of creators could have been difficult in terms of avoiding the perception of advertising/commercial use, but surely most could be trusted not to use/abuse their own products if asked nicely?)

I'm trying to understand this whole thread, and this BBB group. It says the group is open for anyone to join? It's the, Belliseria Bureau of Bureaucracy, is that correct?

The Bellisserian Bureau of Bureaucracy and the BBBUG (BBB Users Group) are two separate groups.

The BBBUG is the one you have to request to join, and currently has getting on for a thousand members (mostly, I suspect, people who wanted the group gifts on display in HQ).

The actual BBB is a private group with around twenty members, which was gifted said HQ by the Lindens.

The real question is how does one get to be on the The Bellisseria 6th Anniversary Planning Committee for next year?

No, the real question is why would one want to? You're not getting paid and you've got approximately two years worth of bootlicking to do before you even get a sniff of a free (temporary) sim to decorate.

Furthermore, a subsection of the population will be everlastingly bitter about your access to said free sim because fitting out entire regions is an expensive hobby far beyond the reach of most residents, much like Victorians on 2048 plots.

You are much better off taking Prok's suggestion of doing your own thing, which has the added advantage of you maybe perhaps being able to make enough money to offset your costs.

So is "BBB Users Group" what people refer to when they say "I got in easy and it is a big group?"

And is it another group named BBB for the leaders? It is only 20 persons and closed for the public?

Yes, that's the situation as I understand it and posted above.

Nobody's expecting the actual bureau in charge of issuing passports to have hundreds of members and be open to everyone, so it's weird when people insist they are.

It's my understanding that anyone can join BBB. It's not an exclusive group. I've been in it with a few accounts but left because they're more 'PG' than I tend to be in SL.

You're not confusing it with the Bellisserian Citizens group, are you? That's open to everyone without having to request an invite, and is full of PG chatter.

As I posted upthread, the BBB is currently a private group with around twenty members. Maybe it was open access before, but it isn't now.

My hometown has had drama because there are groups that had closer relationships with city council etc that seemed to get favored treatment when it came certain events or an organization that had a stranglehold on certain types of events and didn't seem open to everyone.

Yeah, this is just how villages work. People are happier working with friends and family, and it's actually more efficient a lot of the time because they have a good grasp of those people's skillsets and the best way to manage them. And yes, you probably do need to suck up to the vicar if you want to use the church hall on a regular basis, and no, the committee in charge of the village fete probably aren't interested in the lady who just moved in and her fancy new ideas.

We basically don't get to fix this unless we go back to the old policy of Lindens not interacting with residents, which I'm not sure anyone wants.

And if your thing in here is to diddle a cartoon kid, i dont care about that either.

Apart from the fact that, as multiple people have pointed out, the production of cartoon SA imagery is against the law in the US, we also have to factor in the Nazi bar problem.

Which is to say: if your platform is known to tolerate cartoon paedophila with, as its defenders like to insist, no 'real' victims as everyone involved is over 18, there is a risk that your platform becomes a magnet for people with those inclinations, and, before you know it, is being used to facilitate the circulation of RL CSAM. That is not a situation LL wants to find itself in, and it's equally unacceptable to most residents. I don't want people thinking I'm a paedo because I'm in SL. I get quite enough judgment on that score already, thanks.

  15. Sex-related HUD systems will broadcast to others in the vicinity wearing the same HUD that you are wearing it. They couldn't really operate otherwise. They may also involve other avatar attachments which would be visible in area search and by 'what is she wearing' scripts.

(This isn't to say that I didn't find the screenshots hinky, but on the other hand I haven't used every viewer out there, nor have I ever had God powers, so it's impossible for me to be certain that they're fake.)
