The big difference I can see is that in EA games, et al, you pretty much NEED the loot boxes in order to stay competitive in their games. That or dedicate thousands of hours to grinding to get the same pay off. Since there's no competitive advantage to loot boxes here, I don't think its an equitable comparison. I don't much care for gachas. I've played a few where I don't really care what color I get. But many people enjoy them and I'll be sad to see them go.
