[Do you primarily use a human avatar?]

I'm normally human but feel most 'myself' as a tiny robot. I also enjoy being a feral animal, normally a cat or bunny, or a Dinkie cat. When I'm not in the mood to socialize or roleplay, I become a butterfly. The freedom to take on different forms is one of my favorite aspects of SL. Today I feel like being a hedgehog but could not find a realistic hedgehog avatar.

[Games to earn Lindens]

While I do play Virtual Fishing and Magic Fishing, I prefer rpg games like SL Mining and Alienum Evolution where you obtain resources to use in crafting in addition to fishing for lindens.

[Renting Land Options]

I usually pay between .53L and .66L per prim. Have had great experiences using both Riviera Rentals and Castle Arnstein.

[What do you buy most in store and on the marketplace? And what would you like to see most in the market?]

Furniture, houses, and landscaping items. I usually see something I like in MP, then visit the shop inworld if they have one. Even if I visit the shop I usually buy the item on MP. I most often puchase older items from ages ago, so don't have a favorite creator.

Thank you so much! What I ended up doing that worked for me was linking the transparent floor prim that I made to the house itself, now am able to rezz without any issues. Before that I had just placed the prim on top of the actual floor and made it transparent, but had to link it to the house to get it to work.

I placed a transparent prim on top of the floor of my mesh home, but every time I rezz something it sinks beneath the floor. Does anyone know what may be causing this issue?

Does prim count remain tied to each individual parcel when a group owns two adjacent parcels? (i.e., if each parcel allows 351 prims, can I place 400 prims on one parcel and the remaining on the other or does it need to be 351 on each?)

I am trying to add an alpha texture to a mesh body but the areas which are supposed to be transparent are black. The Alpha mode is greyed out. I am not sure what I am doing wrong. If someone could kindly point me in the direction of a tutorial for how to properly add alpha textures to mesh I would be most grateful! (I tried googling but did not find the information I needed)

 

[Laptop recommendation for SL]

I am open to getting a desktop. Do you have any suggestions? My last was an Asus Essentio, NVIDIA Gtx 760, 3 gig dedicated, i7,  2 TB hard drive. I was really hoping I could just buy the same computer as a replacement but things have changed so much since I bought my last pc that I have no idea which is comparable (I.e., What is the next step up from GTX 760, etc)

My pc died a few months ago, and I am currently looking to purchase a laptop that is able to run SL for long periods without overheating. I need to keep within a budget of $1k to 1300k. If anyone has any suggestions I would be most grateful! If you don't have specific make and model in mind, I would appreciate just knowing the basic components I should be looking for (processor, graphics card, memory, fan type, and any other pertinent information). My pc died last month and I am unable to login to my SL account to remove items from my land. I was going to sell the parcel but I only have access to an ancient mini iPad now  so will have to just abandon the land unfortunately. When I abandon my parcel, will the items be returned instantly to my inventory? 

[What are Second Life Families? What are your thoughts on them?]

Family communities have a lot of fun activities going on. October to December is especially enjoyable in those neighborhoods with all the holiday events. I used to rent a house every October just so I could go trick or treating and often stayed through Christmas. Much cozier than living in the sky alone lol

I once had a wonderful family in SL. I left due to my desire to engage in solitary activities but will always cherish my experiences with them. Many years later I tried to find a new family, but had several bad experiences. I do envy those who are able to make deep connections in SL but I know that due to my reclusive nature I'd never be able to maintain long term family bonds.

I have a vivid imagination and really enjoy roleplaying my own family members. I sometimes alternate between various ages. I also have many prim and animesh babies, and have even used alts as bots (both animal and human). What I did was had them wear a hud that gives needs like Cherubs Care, Life hud, etc. so I could take care of them.

If alts were not allowed but people still used them to fish, it would be unfair to people who use just their main to fish for this reason:

Most landowners will put around 2k into their buoy during multipliers.

This enables around 140 people to fish (14L per person)

If each person were to use 4 alts to fish, only 35 people would be able to fish at the buoy (56L per 4 alts)

So in effect, 100+ people would not be able to fish due to the use of alts. 

Those 100 people would then have to fish 9 buoys (four and a half hours of fishing) to earn the equivalent of what those using alts made in just 30 minutes at that one buoy.

It really isn’t any of your business and if that’s what triggering you in life then maybe you should put the keyboard down and go outside for a bit. People have alts, their alts have alts, they use their alts for all kinds of things. Leave them to it, your only creating more stress for yourself by worrying otherwise

I am not triggered by alts lol I have alts myself. Now that I know most landowners don't care if people use alts while fishing it totally changes my point of view,  since it is quite foolish for someone like me to fish with only one avatar if it is allowed to fish with more than one, since someone who fishes using four avatars simultaneously will be making 56L per buoy instead of 14L.

Thank you for sharing your own experiences! That is something I wondered about for ages. I always feel really guilty fishing because I didn't understand what the landowner was receiving from it, I am definitely going to start tipping then, as I fish so often and don't feel right about taking people's money without giving anything in return. Especially knowing some just do it for the company - my goodness! That makes me feel even worse lol. I will definitely try to be more friendly when I'm fishing now, knowing that. At least contribute in a small way even if I can't afford to tip huge amounts.
