  1. Not everyone has a computer that can handle too many particles that overload a Sim. And really, if there is a chronic problem like too many griefers and script kiddies then Second Life should take a look at it and come up with solutions. But we can agree to disagree. If people are paying to become members and are contributing to SL financially by buying products, supporting venues etc, there should be a reasonable expectation that their computer isn't going to be fried because of excessive particles on a parcel where they aren't supposed to be like a Linden parcel. Not a reasonable expectation that they should have known or they somehow deserve it. The area should be monitored and cleaned up.
  2. The few times that I have been teleported there, it has been griefers and trolls.
  3. The people at Ahern have been decent. Nelsonia on the other hand is a cesspool.
  4. And you are one of those people who see anyone with a different point of view as a do-gooder or a whiner whether they have a valid point or not. Not too dismissive but it's predictable on these threads. Save the name calling. I'm not particularly good. At least I'm not a sycophant who says whatever to stick with the status quo here. No matter what. C'mon. And you don't know me, just because I'm civil doesn't mean I'm a bleeding heart. It's just good business not to chase people away from SL. The numbers are dwindling and perhaps a less toxic atmosphere in areas would chase fewer people away.
  5. If it's unprovoked and you haven't done anything to the individual/individuals involved? Anyhow, I know how this thread is going, it's pretty obvious.
  6. Blame the victim. It's the computer's fault that it freezes up because of excessive particles. I know how this thread will go
  7. Harassment, pushing, bullying is not. And there is a TOS that addresses this. Pretty simplistic there.
  8. Have to agree to disagree on people not being able to comment. If this has been going on for years, then the issue isn't closed
  9. When I first started talking about this issue, I was talking about how it would be for a new user to be teleported in an area where there are script kiddies, griefers, trolls etc. And this area does attract quite a number of them. I have blocked and de rendered them and it's a long list. I know how to protect myself and will move freely in Second Life. If there is a chronic problem with this type of thing in a public area where anyone can be diverted and it's reported, the area should be looked at more closely. I don't need a newbie area but I do think that if this kind of thing is going on, for the sake of new users, it should be cleaned up.
  10. So I guess TOS is only there in name only and there is absolutely no reason to put this in writing whether or not there are children involved? Why bother with a TOS then? "6.1 You will not post or transmit prohibited Content, including any Content that is illegal, harassing or violates any person's rights. 11. Go ahead. If you ask for it, it's consensual. If not, it's unwelcome and it's harassment. Okay?
  12. Don't think so. If it's unprovoked and you are called something derogatory or accosted by a group of people, it's harassment. Plain and simple.
  13. I've noticed that there are an awful lot of bodies and no one is talking You see the teleport area and bodies are piling in. And I have stood around as an object of some type and no one notices because often times no one is really there....LOL
  14. And as for states of undress. Whether private or public I've never been expelled for being nude by mistake. If I insist on being nude in a general or moderate Sim then I can expect action on it then.
  15. Hate speech is still protected in the United States but many international internet companies have agreed to do something since laws do vary internationally. There may come a day when LL will have to do something about it. Personally I have de rendered individuals partaking in this kind of conduct. Since Second Life is international in scope, I really think it should be more pro-active on this issue. "Internet Main article: Online hate speech On May 31, 2016, Facebook, Google, Microsoft, and Twitter, jointly agreed to a European Union code of conduct obligating them to review "[the] majority of valid notifications for removal of illegal hate speech" posted on their services within 24 hours.[105] Prior to this in 2013, Facebook, with pressure from over 100 advocacy groups including the Everyday Sexism Project, agreed to change their hate speech policies after data released regarding content that promoted domestic and sexual violence against women led to the withdrawal of advertising by 15 large companies.[106][107] Many extremist organizations[which?] disseminate hate speech by publishing posts that act as prompts. Content analysis algorithms catch obvious hate speech but cannot pick up covert hate speech. Therefore, though an original post may technically adhere to hate speech policy, the ideas the post conveys prompts readers to use the comment section to spread overt hate speech. These sections are not monitored as heavily as main posts.[108]""
  16. Harassment in my mind is hate speech whether it be against women, minorities or those with different sexual preferences. Things go on at Safe Hub which aren't acceptable. It's in LL best interest to keep an eye on these places because there may come a day when they see a lawsuit because of the actions or words of a troll. Of course when you interact with different people you are going to disagree on things but hate speech and harassment are things that no one should be expected to tolerate anywhere, even SL.
  17. So it's the hapless person who gets diverted to Safe Hub or the resident without a home that has to alter their experience on Second Life in order to avoid this type of thing instead of there being some type of supervision or moderation on these Linden Parcels. They are supposed to be open to everyone and free to use by everyone not just the script kiddies. I'm an average resident and I can't even run simple scripts (dance hud) on these parcels and yet all this is going on unchecked.
  18. You came up with the best description for these places, especially if a new resident happens to be diverted to one. They are prey.
  19. Yes, the sharks prey on people who are diverted there when their usual spots are closed. Chum bucket is an excellent description.
  20. Actually I think it's a good thing that the forum didn't shut down. I think that people should be aware of this. I was teleported randomly into Safe Hub when the sim I usually go to was closed. It's only fair to know what to expect when you enter these Sims. At least you can protect yourself. Too bad something wasn't and isn't done about it.
  21. There are many Sims that give a little leeway on states of undress so I don't agree with your interpretation. I think "safe" implies free from pushing and overly obnoxious particles. Also, should imply freedom from harassment.
  22. This reply is a few years later and I'm surprised that the thread is open still. I have been diverted to "Safe Hub" on a number of occasions and it still attracts trolls, griefers, script kiddies and people that harass others on voice. You can only block them and/or report each incident with as much documentation as possible. Best not to engage them because you could be the one on the incident report. There are some Linden parcels that are almost deserted but without the voice option. Might be a blessing in disguise as there are some very angry, ugly people lurking around places like "Safe Hub".
  23. Whatever. Moderate and General zones free should be inclusive. Adult zones for over 18. I know that it isn't just a game but you would think that including a younger cohort would be an investment. Last post on this. You will be talking to air from now on.
  24. I didn't get that it was for taking money OUT when I was reading the announcement. It wasn't clear to me. Not everyone has time to go to these town hall meetings. I just put some money into my account to spend on products, venues etc. so I was concerned.
