There's no wonder its hard....*coughs* Stand ten of us in a line and fire the same opening chatline and you get ten different responses. We all run subtly different parameters for chat. I do like wit, but I don't like "jokes". I don't like txt spk. I do like flattery if well meant. In the end I use my spider sense which works pretty good. I got a hit on the beach a couple of days ago. After a shaky start, the wit rolled in and I got a good vibe. We've chatted since but I haven't hooked up, because with my new house and inviting folks over, I just haven't had time. But this is quite rare. Whereas most girl avis I chat to, are accomplished chatters, and it just flows. The difference is remarkable. I reckon 90%+ of my regular hanging out buddies are girl avis. Not all are female in RL, but that makes no difference to me here.

All I will say is that if anyones profile is full of stuff I'm not into, then that would be the end. Whether that is rambling quotes or other lifestyle advice, or picks to sims I would never approach. I'm not a prude by the way, but I do read profiles. And how a guy looks matters. Not the mesh/not mesh thing, just the overall look. Hair, muscle size, shape, tats, and size of the obvious. But chat is very important, and that's why I go out hunting for decent chat. Its out there but can be elusive.

I can only imagine what it was like back in the day. But everything changed over time. Maybe this concern about style over substance mentioned earlier is simply that SL holds onto creativity and artistry. These are people who will relish building avis……..I'm in that group and more than anything it's what kept me here, and caused me to build three alts. The market for alt customisation has grown to meet demand, and why not? And the same thing applies to building other stuff, and terraforming. I just wish I had the skill...…... Those gamers who just want it all and want it now won't engage with SL at the same level, and if the data was available, might show a lesser retention rate. In the end you can make this a place to love, whatever your interests, but you have to want to make it work.
