For some reason, I thought I'd responded to this thread but apparently not.

My base look for my avatar has a lot of features that are reflective of my real self. Caucasian, quite short, mid-length blonde hair ombre sort of look, large boobs. hazel eyed as I am in SL. Don't wear much makeup - nor does Elora as of late, my appliers are "as is" out of the box usually.  However, I'm a lot older - she is a glorified version of of me when I was in my late 20's/early 30's - mostly in body shape. I'm on the low end of plus size petite or, zoftig as my people say.

Personality wise we are equal. I don't role play. Tried in the past when I first joined. I'm able to but really don't enjoy it so you get the real me completely when you are talking to me.

As for what I wear - that is the big difference. In RL I have no inclination to dress anywhere near the way I do in SL.  I'm a jeans, basic top and Birkenstock shoes kind of girl for both work and home (I'm lucky I don't have to dress up for the office). Black is my go to color of choice top to bottom most of the time. Some boho pieces but most are streamlined, classic and easy to mix/match. I love fashion from an artistic, historic and social point of view, and can throw together a great outfit for Elora but for myself have little desire to dress up. Same with hair, makeup, shoes and accessories.

I'm happy enough to let SL give me a way to experiment without having to commit to having a closet full of clothing I'll never cut the tags off of in RL 😋

^^^Yep. Black or dark blue Jean's with black trainers (sneakers) is me.

  2. So here's a story. Months ago I used to visit a wilderness sim. Often there was a guy just hanging around. We exchanged chat, and all was good. Then one day the conversation got much deeper, and adult.....

He was pushing for an exclusive relationship, and when I refused, he flipped, and got really nasty. His parting shot was that he would report me to LL for breaching terms and conditions. He freaked me out and I was so upset that I had to consult my Great Aunt Rhonda. 😊 who put my mind at rest. I've never seen him since that encounter.

Yesterday, I was at Muddy's. A guy with the same name, but with one 'x' instead of two, hit me up. "Shields Up". After a short conversation, in which he told me his RL situation and asked me if I was married with kids, I knew it was the same guy. I just tpd away. Does he really think I don't remember? What's wrong with these people?

For the avoidance of doubt, yes I'm married in RL with a daughter. 😛

I've had my LookAt targets disabled, both outgoing and incoming, for years. I'd almost forgotten it was a thing, though I do remember that seeing other people's crosshairs cluttering my screen was a bit distracting.

Gonna turn them both on now, just for a while, to see what I've been missing. 😁

Question about these though - how fine-tuned is it? Does the location of the crosshairs at some point on my body indicate the exact part of my body they're looking at, or does it merely indicate that they are looking at some random part of my avatar?

When they lock on, I see the crosshairs through my neck with the avi name above my head.

  4. ^^^ There's a crossover here into peeveland, where guys join groups which are predominantly female, then send out a greeting on group chat, presumably having scoped who's on line first. I've even had IMs occasionally from guys who have checked my profile from a group, then popped an IM. Having said that, this hunting style seems to be more considered and with less of an agenda. And never starts with hi.

On the subject of local, I'm guilty as charged. Not with intent, rather by neglect. I just forget it's there.

Have I told you recently what a really wonderful person you are, Sara?

    Thank you!

(ETA: A quick note on the genesis of the pic, which maybe underlines the serendipity/randomness of photo-taking. I have this really nice formal gown that I'd love to wear dancing. But I haven't found a really appropriate place to wear it. (And the guy I tasked with finding one has totally let me down this is why I don't trust men). Anyway, I thought, if I can't wear it dancing, at least I can take a nice pic of it. Except that as the picture evolved, the dress sort of receded into the background. But you have to admit, they are very nice spaghetti straps. Right?)

Scylla, I think your spirit is suppressing a sexy siren, who is bursting to get out. I also think, when reading Aunt Winnie's journal, that you are holding many of her genes. Her style and your style are uncannily similar. If Aunt Winnie was posting here, I would assume she was your alt. 9_9
