I actually miss my simple  little flip phone.. They were smaller and fit so much better in my hand  and I never dropped it..

I can't tell you how many times I drop the phone I have now. A lot of times it's like, How in the heck did I just drop that thing?

    hehehe

I don't, it was a pain in the tuckus to type any sort of text out. Lol. But I mean I didn't mind it, and got used to it xD

That's not using gaming or tv or a phone as a baby sitter.. That's moderation and me time which is a good thing..

If cellphones were alcohol, we'd be talking about world wide alcoholism, kids included.

If a teen loses their phone or it breaks for some reason, they don't just lose their phone, they lose their mind and don't know what to do without  it.. That's scary.

I didn't get a phone until I was 18, but even then it was a flip phone and very basic. And I only used it, when I absolutely needed it.

Honestly, I feel if a child needs a phone then it should just be a phone.. A child doesn't need a phone with internet access.. They don't need an Iphone 15 1500 dollar cell phone or whatever they cost nowadays, probably 2000.00 by now..

They have light phones that are basically just for making  and receiving phone calls..  I keep hearing the excuses that , what if they are out somewhere and in trouble and need to make a call.. There is cell phone cell phone..

As far as them having Iphoes, I don't see it as any different than letting the tv or video games become the babysitter..

Our boys have to ask to get on the internet and they don't have accounts of any kind.. If they need an email made for some  reason, we have a joint family email just for that reason..

Our outlook is this.. We want our boys to be of legal age and old enough to put their own identities out there on their own.. We don't want our children already all over the internet regretting things they did or said on the internet, before they are moved out of the house.. Let alone  it's just not a safe place for kids to be wandering around.. The most childish adults in the world hang out and spam themselves all over the internet..

There are a lot of reasons really.. But these are what is spiking in my mind at the moment.. I could fill a page..

How ever someone else wants to raise their children is their concern and not mine or my husbands.. But we get a lot of flak from outsiders Because of how we want to raise our children..

My kids read books they eat dinner at the dinner table  they play outside and come in dirty all the time, they kiss their mom when they get home and before they leave every day.. We have family time and watch shows together..

I just wonder how many do those things if they do them at all without their heads slumped over in a phone actually not being in the room with their families other than just their body being there..

I feel really fortunate these days to be honest..

I did this as a kid, but I also had gaming time and stuff. Which was an hour alloted to me. Whether it be a computer game or a console game. But this was when things were like 32 bit. Lol. But I had family time, I ate at the kitchen table and did what I felt as normal stuff you do as a kid.

I liked "some" of it. But now I'm a vegetarian so, if I went back there'd be less to choose from.

I liked the Alfredo pizza. I don't remember a specific "vegetarian" pizza. (I am not Vegan.)

The last time I went to one is pre-pandemic. (This is in Florida.)

I tried being vegan, yeah I got really sick. Although all-natural ginger ale and rootbeer is good. But I will stick to my omnivore diet. Lol

The normal sexual content is fine when marked sensitive yeah. The violent sexual content is classified under what they "strictly prohibit" along with a bunch of other things I won't list to prevent normalization of non-consensual behavior.

I'm peeved such a policy is even needed (especially seeing the rest of that list...like whyyyyyyy would someone post that?!?!) but here we are.

Its the internet, as disgusting as it is. There is always gonna be that one depraved individual that puts it on there. That being said, the whole not putting that censor block on it, and just seeing it out right. That truly bugs me.

Even more baffling - it's against Twitter's content guidelines. Sexual whatnot in photos, all good. In video, no. Violence/abuse in any case - no.

I would think that would be the same elsewhere (I haven't checked Flickr's TOS in a minute, admittedly), but um...at least on Twitter, you shouldn't be seeing that at all.

Its okay as long as you put that censor filter thingy. So it people don't have to see it if they don't want to. If they are truly curious they will just temporarily turn off that censor thing. But most people on X formerly twitter don't do that stuff. They just post with no regard for anyone.

Actually, no, it was a thread where some clueless middle class suburban fad diet fans, knowing nothing about a foreign country than "cows are sacred there" seriously suggested shipping 11 million animals to the other side of the world to "prevent the cruelty of milk production", ignoring the fact that shipping 11 million animals half way round the world is a) impractical, b) excessively cruel, and c) wouldn't be that well received by people iin the target country who suddenly found 11 million foreign cows dumped in their fields.

This sort of thing is actually common in "Animal Rights" nutjobs. Some years back, pig farmers in southern France cross bred large domestic pigs with Wild Boar, hoping to get a hybrid that TASTED like wild boar, but was larger and domesticated.

2 Out of 3 ain't bad, they got the taste, and the large size, but the things were mean as hell.

Then some animal rights nutters raided the farm and released the damn things into the wild.

They were aggressive, weight several hundred pounds each, and ate anything that couldn't get away in time, the French Authorities ended up having to place a bounty on the damn things, to encourage hunters to risk life and limb eradicating the things.

The "Animals are people too" crowd never stopped to think about the effects of releasing a species of 300+ lb, violently aggressive, omnivores into the eco system would have, or the danger posed to the public.

Then there were the PETA pillocks who raided a commercial Mink farm in England, and released large numbers of one of the most vicious small predators known to man into the country side, where they DEVASTATED the local wildlife, including many endangered species.

Country folk HATE suburban fad diet nutters telling them "what's best for  animals" as it's usually wrong.

Not gonna lie, I just hate extreme animal activists in general. The amount of crimes committed on farms, who don't fit the bill of being a factory farm. All to protest some farmer who basically lets the animals graze on an open pasture is absolutely insane.

Hm…I haven’t come across a fatpack by body where it just craps out items. I guess I’ve been lucky where the ones I get just have the item and a hud.

Yeah I wasn't saying that, I am talking about the way that they have done it since like 2013. Where they pack all sizes in a HUD or a package and you have to weed through and delete the stuff that is not for your body. The by body pack or the smart unpacker with body selection, is by far the best thing that SL creators invented in SL.

Oh yeah... so many items have gone unused because cleaning up the messy unpacking is just...

I noted what I prefer upthread but again: sell by single body works best because I only keep to one body. If I change to a new body because of updates or end of support for an old one - then I'll look at things again. But I rarely change from an old body to an even older one so in the few times I've done that over the years it's meant buying new outfits anyway.

It'd be interesting to see how many stick to just one body and how many people swap around regularly. I suspect most people stick to one body or the popularity of the different bodies would be closer together.

I have always stuck to one body and head. And even one look. I mean the people who constantly change all that, I don't know how they do that. I would get confused myself, especially if I had an entirely new look. I would be like. Who is this? This ain't me. Oh, yeah, I changed my look. That's why. So I stick with one look, one body, one head.

I usually go with the body pack, especially if it’s like 399-599. There’s been many times in the past when I’ve bought a single color and I just needed the same item but in a different color than the one I bought.

I usually end up deleting all of the bodies I don’t wear from a single pack.

I’m not too big on freebies, but I love a bargain. To me, spending a little more for all of the colors is a bargain.

Depends on what a store offers, if they offer you buy by body. Great, I am on that on flies on poop. If they offer a fatpack, with a smart unpacker by body. Awesome, less clutter in my inventory. If it's the old school way, where you click to unpack or it auto unpacks. I am totally fine with that, but dislike the fact I have to go through and clean and organize after massive shopping sprees.

What you're actually wearing is ALL the body sizes.  The HUD doesn't contain anything aside from the script that changes the body type.  In the case of this simple tank top, you're wearing 8 sizes.

Does this company start with an M? Lol. I think I know who you are talking about. And I honestly dislike that method.

I pretty much delete everything but the Maitreya and Reborn, which are the two bodies I wear most.. If for some reason one of my other bodies sparks me I'll just unpack that one..

I spent a lot of time last summer getting my inventory straightened out, So I understand what you mean by the clutter..  If the item is worth it I'm gonna get it, as long as I'm not jumping through hoops to get it.. The system it's using isn't really gonna matter to me that much if I really want it..

Plus I'm gonna test it on the bodies I'm wanting it for..if they are all in one folder it's just a matter of holding down the ctrl button and clicking all the ones I don't want and  hitting delete.. Then make a copy of the folder and put one in the Reborn directory and  take the other and put it in the Maitreya directory..

Now if it's something like what Rowen was referring to with them not having a hud at all and putting each color for each body and having to unpack each body to get a zillion items  in my inventory for each body..  Those are the places that I don't even bother with anymore..  It's 2023, at least have a hud if they are selling a fatpack.. hehehe

I think I know the creator she is referring to.. Talk about time consuming and cluttering things up.. Omg! hehehe

Clutter drives me bonkers, but sitting there for 10-15 minutes deleting every body size minus Reborn is even worse. This is why I like the smart unpackers and even buy by body size. It allows me to either unpack just that body or click on the specific body I have and get it's contents and put on the outfit and go. xD

Almost always prefer single colours, or small packs with a good selection of colours. Very few purchases make it as fatpacks, paying for 12 colours and getting 15 when I'll only use 1 or 2 anyway feels a bit pointless - I'd rather buy those two colours individually instead. Not a fan of the concept of body-specific packs, even if I only use 1 body myself. Never bought any, and I don't anticipate I will.

The only reason why I buy fatpacks, is for the bonus colours or maybe even the special graphics on it.

If I really want it bad enough, it doesn't really matter to me.. If there is a fatpack, it's really gonna depend on how well the coloring is done.. Am I gonna be putting on a light show with these tops or are the colors gonna feel natural and not blinding..

Plus if there is a pattern pack in there and it looks like they are all from someones living room furniture in the 1970's, I'm gonna pass on that..

Really, it just comes down to the moment on what I'm gonna do.. It may be a single or it may be a fatpack..

As far as buying for each body, it's still gonna depend  on the moment and the quality of what I'm looking at.. If I have to sit there and think way too much about it while I'm there, I'll come to a point of where I just walk away.. If I wanted to think this hard I would have worked overtime this weekend.. hehehe

I just don't like clutter in my inventory, especially since for so long creators didn't have it separated in the unpacker by body or sold by body. So these new systems are amazing, and I finally don't have to take 10 to 15 minutes to go through deleting stuff after a shopping trip. Yeah I want to wear the clothes right away, not go through organize and liquidate clothes that weren't rigged for my body. This just makes it quick and simple.

Peeve: Some of the posters in this thread write, like they are the angels of the forums, never troll, never suck, never derail threads, never make cheesy jokes,  never do anything wrong, but the others..... yeah right.
Almost all regulars do their fair share here.
All Saints is later in the year. Right after Halloween.

I never said I was an angel, I enjoy a good troll here and there. But I don't character attack someone when I troll, I may make a stupid and crude joke about what they say. But I am not attacking them based on their opinion or what they said.

Doesn't happen that often really and when it comes down to it, if one is going to be opinionated and controversial, better be bringing some fire retardant underwear and have a thick skin.

    I do.

I mean I don't, as I have seen some posts where people are getting bullied and harrassed and that is not right. Nor should it be on these forums. This ain't 4chan this is the Second Life Forums.

It's the Lindens and their representatives shutting the threads down, not the residents. The ones getting butthurt and emotional are mostly the thread reporters even when they are not personally involved.

So we should just allow the volatile and toxic character attacks and not take responsibility for our own actions. Most posts that get closed are due to someone or a group of people getting volatile and toxic at another person. We are not the victims here, especially when you see character attacks and things going way off-topic. I mean they have community guidelines for a reason and if we don't follow them in a certain post, they are gonna shut it down.

    Agreed.

For example, let's posit that one theoretical poster merely cannot keep themself from always creating "RAGEPOSTS!1!!".  This may be "fun" and even "funny" for them, but..not only does it get old, get personal, get reported, but if everyone did it - not so much fun.

It's on US for responding and reacting to the "rageposts" but, what would you expect?

    Peeve: (Theoretical) Rageposting.

I mean I would expect people to get emotional, but an easy way to let a post like this become a fart in the wind, is just to ignore and realize the difference between a troll and legit post.

Possibly since brawls and off-topic posts result in a "Report-Fest", then Mods have to actually come check what nonsense is happening. If "babies" (like me!) didn't report butthurt posts, then we'd be fine. Just a theory.

Yeah but I have seen some people go for the metaphorical jugular in some of these posts, and it's like whoa calm down. Lol. It's not that they are necessarily taking away fun. They are trying to stop a bigger fight in progress. I enjoy a good troll here and there, but when it gets well volatile, I step out.
