  1. What do you mean by "greyed out". What exactly is greyed out? There are many areas where this can go grey.
  2. What is the error you get when you are doing the installation? Can you provide a screenshot? <<Google translate - ¿Cuál es el error que aparece al realizar la instalación? ¿Puede proporcionar una captura de pantalla? >>
  3. This happened to me with ExpressVPN as well. They default to LightWay UDP. I switched to OpenVPN UDP and all the problems went away. https://www.expressvpn.com/support/troubleshooting/vpn-always-disconnecting/#change-protocol
  4. I'm half asleep right now... Are you using the Linux, Windows or Mac version of Firestorm? If you are using Windows or Mac forget everything I posted before and down below. ZZZzzz... No, don't run FS in wine unless you like decreased performance. What you will be running is SLVoice.exe in wine. Everything else is native Linux code. Voice in Linux is all 32 bit code even in the 64 bit version of FS. Doesnt matter if the viewer is using Linux or Windows for voice. marissa@marissa-ROG-G703GXR-G703GXR:~/Downloads/Phoenix_Firestorm-Release_x86_64_6.4.21.64531/bin$ file SLVoice SLVoice: ELF 32-bit LSB executable, Intel 80386, version 1 (SYSV), dynamically linked, interpreter /lib/ld-linux.so.2, for GNU/Linux 2.6.8, not stripped marissa@marissa-ROG-G703GXR-G703GXR:~/Downloads/Phoenix_Firestorm-Release_x86_64_6.4.21.64531/bin/win32$ file SLVoice.exe SLVoice.exe: PE32 executable (GUI) Intel 80386 (stripped to external PDB), for MS Windows
  5. Vivox servers go down with the tides sometimes I think. My main could be out but my alt is fine and vice versa. There really isn't much you can do about it except to "hurry up and wait" It is best to use the Windows version with Wine. Linux SLVoice (Vivox 3.2) is over ten years old now and not supported. The 32 bit Windows binaries are included with the Firestorm download (Vivox 4.6). Just make sure Wine is installed and to activate it go to debug settings (ctrl alt shift S) and change FSLinuxEnableWin32VoiceProxy to TRUE and restart Firestorm.
  6. So... Does this mean there will be "skill" gachas in the future
  7. https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/29969/Intel-Graphics-Driver-for-Windows-15-33- That is the most current driver for a 3rd gen Intel CPU w/ integrated graphics. There are times though a laptop manufacturer may only want you to use the the driver they provide but you *should* be able to use this driver. So, use caution.
  8. A few months back in another thread (which I forgot which one) you gave an excellent explanation of what is going on with CPU vs GPU load in SL!
  9. You can try to force a higher version from the Intel website. What exact Intel CPU do you have? You can easily find that by going to Help > About SecondLife (or Firestorm). In reality though. Your friends are right. That CPU is 9 years old now. Time to either put it out to the great e-waste pile in the clouds or demote it to "light" work only. https://downloadcenter.intel.com/product/80939/Graphics
  10. If you give the viewer the right environment (example in photo is running ultra with long full shadows) where the GPU starts taking over is where you will see higher end equipment shining. See the 86% load on the cpu. CPU: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-9750H CPU @ 2.60GHz (2600 MHz) Memory: 64037 MB Concurrency: 12 OS Version: Linux 5.14.0-051400rc3-generic #202107252330 SMP Sun Jul 25 23:34:03 UTC 2021 x86_64 Graphics Card Vendor: NVIDIA Corporation Graphics Card: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080/PCIe/SSE2 Graphics Card Memory: 8192 MB OpenGL Version: 4.6.0 NVIDIA 470.57.02
  11. M*vies7.to shows pirated and/or unlicensed content and that is why your AV/Anti-malware is blocking it.
  12. I have about 115,000 items in my inventory. The cache clears with each reboot. I've never had an issue with slow loading unless there was a posted outage of such. Try clearing all of your cache and log back in.
  13. Did anyone make any firewall changes in your router and or cable modem? It looks like ports are being blocked. If all the above fails call your router or cable/dsl provider to set your computer in DMZ mode.
  14. It's in a not so user friendly place... Avatar > Preferences > Sound & Media > Media > "Manage Media Sites" (button) Hope this helps
  15. If you really think there is the possibility of malware then run it through an antivirus and antimalware programs. I use both bitdefender and malwarebytes on my Mac. That is the best way of checking for Mac malware.
  16. There is no such thing as having too much power. However power vs price is not linear. If you are looking for value do not look at the highest end machines. If you want the most possible fps SL can give in laptop Origin has some fabulous choices in the $5,000 usd range. https://www.originpc.com/gaming/laptops/new-eon17-x/
  17. With that computer your graphics settings should be at low or one above low. If you "must" stay at mid turn your max # of non avatar imposters to 4 or less. Mid defaults at 16. It wont look as pretty since only the closest 4 avatars will be rendered and the rest will be 2d. That will improve your fps a bit. I know you paid good hard earned cash for that computer but running SL on that is like having a Hyundai Accent pull a two ton trailer. It might work when your on a level surface but once the grade increases it will just halt (and probably die but your comp wont it will just sputter and freeze). Wish I had better news for you. You could also install Linux. It will have better SL performance than Windows. There will be a steep learning curve though to familiarize yourself with that OS.
  18. It can be resized but when making it small it cuts off the time and date by a bit. I'm sure that will fixed shortly You must do this in regedit though Open regedit Go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced create DWORD 32bit value and call it "TaskbarSi" Set value to 0, 1 or 2 (use hexadecimal) 0 = small taskbar 1 = Original size 2 = Large taskbar Reboot the system Hope this helps!
  19. Windows 11 is more like a service pack (with a lot of restrictions!) than a brand new OS.
  20. I've been using the insider preview on and off for about two weeks and SL runs perfectly with the regular viewer along with Firestorm.
  21. That sounds like your router is blocking the ports needed for SL. A lot of routers come with factory settings that are insanely security conscious and in doing so disable a lot of content that doesn't use common ports (web, email, ftp, ect). To correct this you can do one of two things. 1) Set the internal IP address of your SL computer to DMZ (DMZ places your computer outside the protection of the firewall but allows all ports to go to that computer). 2) Set up port forwarding so that the required ports needed for SL are forwarded to your SL computer. Off hand I do not know the range of ports needed for SL but you can get them from either live chat if you are premium or through a regular support ticket for basic accounts. Read you routers manual for instruction on how to set up the 2 solutions. Hope this helps
  22. With the global chip shortage going on right now this is a very bad time to be buying a computer. So if you see something that looks interesting, in your budget and available buy it. Next time you look it will be sold out. Best though would be to wait at least one year when computers will hopefully go back down to MSRP and actually be available to purchase. You wont find any deals right now even if it fell off the back of a truck. Everything is selling way over MSRP right now. Other than that. Look for something with a discrete GPU from Nvidia or AMD (no Intel graphics!). CPU wise Intel i5, i7, i9 (stay away from i3) or AMD Ryzen. At least 16 GB ram. Anything more than that is a bonus. Happy shopping!
  23. Don't make it "pratically no firewall". Put your comp in DMZ first then continue on if that doesn't work.
  24. When using a router ports can be restricted for securitry reasons. Setting your internal IP to the DMZ will take that IP address and expose it completely to the internet. See your routers instructions on how to set your comps internal ip (192.168.x.x or 10.x.x.x) address to the DMZ. More than likely this is your problem. It's an old techie rule to "Always blame the firewall" https://www.pcmag.com/encyclopedia/term/dmz YOLO means "You Only Live Once" which basically means "Damn the torpedoes! Full speed ahead!!!"
